Chapter 1217 - 1225: Do You Know

Jane Sampson was utterly confounded by James Black’s statement.

What was this about a villain’s face and a good person? What was he trying to say?

Seeing Jane blink her eyes foolishly and stare at him, James Black simply lifted his hand and flicked the back of Jane’s head, "What I mean is, keep your distance from Rachel Miller, anyone from Crystal Element Group is no good."

"Are you discriminating against their occupation?" Jane finally felt something was off, "Did someone from Crystal Element offend you?"

James Black couldn’t be bothered to explain and simply repeated his warning, "Just remember what I said, there’s no need to ask so many questions."

With a nod, Jane acknowledged with an "oh."

"Aside from a few days which remain for you to film in King Town, in the past, you were compliant. Once you get back to Capital Province, I’ll reward you," James Black coaxed Jane like one would a child, only to receive an eye roll in response.

Brooke Black’s associates had obtained the CCTV footage by that afternoon. Once the man arrived, Jane deliberately asked him in front of James Black, "Did Crystal Element give you a hard time when you went to get the footage?"

"Not at all," the man answered truthfully.

Jane provocatively glanced at James Black, "See? People from Crystal Element are rather nice."

The man hadn’t expected Jane to suddenly make such a remark, and the rest of his intended words got stuck in his throat.

Because he had bought the video with money, and since nobody would have an issue with money, naturally, the person he dealt with didn’t give him a hard time.

James Black didn’t engage Jane in a verbal sparring match, instead, he opened Jane’s computer again.

In the morning, nothing useful could be gleaned from the existing videos on Jane’s computer, so James Black hoped to find something in the remaining footage.

"Why does Commander Black want videos from so many days?" The man next to him asked curiously after glancing at the computer.

"Because Charles Young said that person had a Northland accent, so they aren’t a local from King Town. If a local came to King Town, they would have to stay in a hotel. Someone who could easily afford to pay such a sum of money would first choose a better hotel to stay at. King Town has only two good hotels, one is where our film crew is staying, and the other is Crystal Element. If this person set the meeting location at Crystal Element, it’s very likely because they are already staying at Crystal Element and are familiar with it."

Jane spoke at length on behalf of James Black, who didn’t bother to explain himself.

After she finished, the man next to her seemed to have an epiphany.

James Black, however, looked at Jane with surprise.

"You knew?" he paused the video playback to ask Jane, "I never told you anything, but you seem to know it all."

Jane shrugged her shoulders, somewhat pleased with herself, her tail nearly swishing heavenward, "I just know."

How boring could life get after her marriage to James Black in her past life?

Jane had read every single book from James Black’s study collection, without missing any. During those times when she was the only one at home, the only thing Jane could do was accompany herself with books.

Or perhaps play a game.

Among them were some books on professional psychological analysis, which Jane had almost finished reading.

Because of that, and since James Black’s study had a diverse range of books, Jane’s interest in reading had persisted to the present, and she read indiscriminately, whatever book was available.
