Chapter 1249 - 1257: The Anxious Rabbit
His phone number had previously been saved in Jane Sampson’s contacts as "husband."
Nowadays, that word "husband" wouldn’t find that number anymore.
Jane Sampson’s expression when she just now denied deleting it didn’t seem like she was lying.
If it wasn’t deleted, then the contact name must have been changed.
James Black was quite curious about the new nickname Jane Sampson had given his number.
So this time, James Black searched directly using the mobile number in the contacts.
A few seconds later, he found it.
Three words.
— Old rascal.
James Black burst into a rueful laugh.
"Well-done, Jane Sampson, you got style," James Black didn’t know whether to laugh or to be angry.
"You better get down here!" Jane Sampson, enraged, stamped her foot, "Even a cornered rabbit will bite, you old rascal, provoke me again, and I... I’ll bite you to death!"
James Black lowered his gaze and stared at Jane Sampson, whose face was so red it almost seemed as if blood was about to squeeze out of it. It took him a good few seconds to belatedly realize what Jane was blushing about.
Furious, Jane Sampson breathed heavily as she spoke, and now realizing just how unfortunately perfect their position was, James Black could even feel her breath precisely hitting that spot.
James Black’s body stiffened, and after a few seconds, he finally got off the sofa. As soon as Jane gained her freedom, she kicked him in the leg and, with a flushed face, quickly ran upstairs with a thumping sound.
A few seconds later, an intense bang of a slammed door echoed from upstairs.
The Aunt, who was cooking in the kitchen, ran out in shock, looking alarmed, "What happened? What happened?"
"It’s nothing, probably the wind too strong; it must have accidentally closed the upstairs room door," James Black casually sat down and explained.
The Aunt said, "Oh," then went back to the kitchen, mumbling to herself as she continued to work.
James Black then rubbed his temples, thinking, Jane Sampson must have been really angry just now, right?
So, how should he coax her this time?
James Black somewhat regretted the decision, feeling that he had purchased the milk tea too early.
His gaze swept over the tabletop—furious and storming upstairs, yet still managing to take the milk tea along; indeed, it was very much Jane Sampson’s style.
Thinking about the cup of milk tea, James Black went upstairs and tried knocking on the door, calling through to Jane Sampson, "Come out and get your mobile phone."
But after waiting a good few seconds, there was no peep from inside.
James Black twisted the doorknob, unsurprised to find it locked.
Not even wanting the phone, it seemed she was truly fuming.
James Black stood in the doorway and raised an eyebrow, "I’ll leave your phone at the door."
After saying that and waiting for another two minutes without seeing Jane Sampson open the door, James Black was surprised.
He didn’t manage to lure her out?
Standing at the door a while longer and still no sign of her, James Black went back downstairs.
He sat on the sofa, but his eyes remained fixed on the upper floor, keeping track of any movement upstairs, waiting to see how long Jane Sampson could hold off before coming out to get her mobile phone.
But this time, he truly underestimated Jane Sampson; she showed no intention of coming out at all.
James Black’s expression grew more serious. He thought it over, picked up the car key from the table and hastily left.
When Old Master Black came in with the Great General, he saw James Black about to leave and promptly frowned, "You rarely get two days off to spend with your wife, and you’re already heading out again? How old are you, and yet you still act so impatiently?"
"Going out to buy some stuff, I’ll be right back," James Black dropped the words and drove off.
