Chapter 2168 - 2176: Between Life and Work
"He’s used to it; now it’s not even the hottest season. For him, this temperature is nothing." Jane Sampson had seen James Black stand under the sun during the hottest summer in Capital Province for an entire day, only moving for his three meals.
"Of course, he’s crazy about me, being with me makes him happy," Jane added shamelessly.
"Say that again when your Father Black comes back," Coco Edwards egged Jane Sampson on, "see if he’ll admit it."
"He’s shy, let’s not tease him." Jane waved her hand with a grin, and the three girls burst into laughter together.
Later, when Jane Sampson lay in James Black’s arms and asked him, James naturally replied with one sentence.
"You’re quite the dreamer."
Jane Sampson realized that she wasn’t the only one being tough, James was not backing down either.
When James Black left, the other actors who had a good relationship with Jane gathered around to join in the fun.
With James Black’s overwhelming presence gone, everyone dared to approach Jane Sampson, and those not on lunch break quickly gathered around, asking her questions about her recent activities.
No one had any ill intentions, so Jane Sampson spoke candidly, sharing what she could and staying silent when necessary, without hiding anything that didn’t need to be hidden.
Upon seeing the scars on Jane Sampson’s arm, everyone gasped audibly, the sound was evident from afar.
The injury on Jane Sampson’s arm couldn’t be hidden within the crew; the makeup artist knew, and anyone close enough could notice. When they asked if she was injured, Jane Sampson openly told them about her arm injury.
Everyone, upon realizing, deduced that one of the scarred arm photos released by the police back then was indeed of Jane Sampson. Seeing it now, everyone empathized with her pain.
"Sister Jane, did you see a doctor for that? When will the scars on your arm heal?" Stella Carter’s voice suddenly came from behind, "I was curious before about why the director asked me for piano-playing close-ups. Turns out, Sister Jane, your arm can’t be in HD lens shots."
Everyone had been talking and hadn’t noticed when Stella Carter had joined them. It wasn’t until she suddenly raised her voice in surprise that they realized she was there.
"Yes." Jane nodded, lifting her gaze to Stella Carter, not quite understanding the point of her comment.
"Sister Jane, what can you do? You’re an actor. Can these scars be removed?" Stella asked with a concerned look, "Otherwise, it would impact you quite a lot."
"What’s there to fear? Isn’t that why there’s a stand-in like you? At worst, any close-up shots of arms can use you. This way, as long as little Jane has scenes to shoot, you don’t have to worry about unemployment." Coco Edwards, hearing Stella Carter’s voice, felt uneasy all over and retorted immediately.
Coco Edwards and Harry Little Money returned earlier than Jane Sampson, so they knew a bit more about the crew’s dynamics than Jane.
Coco Edwards truly disliked Stella Carter and, hearing her pretend to stab Jane Sampson’s heart, couldn’t suppress her irritation and snapped back.
