Chapter 648 - 656: Just Friends
They had just seen each other two days ago, and even though they were wearing masks, Jane Sampson and Lotus still easily recognized each other.
Jane Sampson gave Lotus a slight nod as a greeting. The two weren’t on good terms and had barely exchanged two sentences, so Jane Sampson didn’t bother to be overly friendly.
"Did James Carter bring you back?" Lotus suddenly asked.
As a model, Lotus was a towering 178 cm, and with her high heels, she was over 180 cm tall. She looked down at Jane Sampson, who was in flat shoes, with a chortle in her question.
Jane Sampson looked down and didn’t answer; Lotus didn’t expect a reply but didn’t let the conversation drop either.
"Are you and James Carter together now?" That was Lotus’s second question. After asking, she scoffed, "Mandy Forest was so proud back then. And yet, the title of Mrs. Carter has nothing to do with her now. Hah, Mandy Forest and James Carter were so lovey-dovey, acting as if we could have their wedding candy at any moment. In the end, she got dumped by James Carter. The last to know about James Carter’s return to the country was from me."
"Mr. Carter and I are just friends," Jane Sampson said in a tone that was neither light nor heavy, just right to make her point. As she finished speaking, the elevator reached the 26th Floor, and she walked out straight-backed.
In this circle, no one should be underestimated.
Including Lotus.
Casual remarks, but every word was a provocation, a deliberate instigation.
If Jane Sampson really were James Carter’s girlfriend, hearing Lotus’s words would likely result in a quarrel with James Carter later on, and she would become an enemy to Mandy Forest from then on.
Which woman could stand to hear from someone else about her boyfriend’s romantic past, acting lovey-dovey with another woman as if they were about to get married?
Unless there’s no love.
Just like the friendship between Jane Sampson and James Carter. Because there was no love, she had no reaction after hearing it.
Before going back to her room, Jane Sampson knocked on Coco Edwards’s door, "I knew you hadn’t had dinner, so I got a meal for you."
Coco Edwards stood in the doorway, looking dazed. "How did you know I hadn’t had dinner?"
"I saw your Moments. You talked about it there," Jane Sampson said as she walked in and placed the stuff in her hand on Coco Edwards’s room table. "You said you wanted to lose weight and skip dinner, but I think skipping dinner is bad for your health. So, I got you a low-calorie dinner. Don’t worry about it; if you want to lose weight, you should exercise more and cut back on snacks, or eat less for lunch."
Jane Sampson patted Coco Edwards on the shoulder. Just then, her mobile phone rang in her pocket. Taking it out, she saw it was a call from James Black, waved goodbye to Coco Edwards, and returned to her own room next door.
Only after entering did Jane Sampson leisurely answer the call with a languid voice, "What’s up~?"
Hearing Jane Sampson’s "What’s up~", James Black’s eyebrows slightly arched, "Didn’t you tell me to miss you once before you boarded the plane?"
Jane Sampson sat up straighter, and in her heart, she exclaimed silently, "James Black, does missing me have anything to do with calling me?"
"Doesn’t missing you equal making a call to you?" James Black retorted with a snort, "Otherwise, what do you think counts as missing you?"
Not pleased!
