Chapter 670 - 678: No Need to Correct

~4 min read 633 words

When it came time to order, Jane Sampson first asked James Black what he wanted to eat.

"So, it’s these four dishes and one soup, then?" Jane Sampson’s finger tapped on the few dishes they had already chosen to show James Black and she waited for him to nod before calling the waiter over to collect the menu. She then quickly circled the grilled lamb skewers on it and wrote a small "4" beside it.

"Waiter, we’ve finished ordering." Jane Sampson’s hands swiftly handed the menu back to the young waiter, "The food can be served now."

After saying this, Jane Sampson didn’t forget to add one more thing, "Make it quick, haha."

Her smiling face all but had "I’m starving to death" written in big letters across it.

The delivery guy was so charmed by Jane Sampson’s smile that his face turned red, "Alright... I..."

James Black’s large hand covered Jane Sampson’s face and turned her back towards the waiter.

Jane Sampson shook her head to fling off James Black’s hand and kept smiling at the delivery guy.

"Let me verify the order with you," the waiter finally managed to regain his composure, and then he remembered what he was supposed to be doing, "One big plate chicken, right?"

"Yes! No need to check! Just bring it! I circled it clearly on the menu, no need to check, even if you get it wrong, I won’t blame you." Jane Sampson repeatedly shook her head at the waiter, all the while emphatically winking at him.

Unfortunately, the waiter was too embarrassed by her earlier laughter to dare to look at Jane Sampson and completely missed her hints.

He very dutifully continued to read back Jane Sampson’s ordered menu.

"One sour soup fish, one garlic greens, one sizzling beef, one winter melon soup, right, and one grilled lamb skewers, four skewers, right?"

Jane Sampson covered her ears and slowly turned her head away from the little brother who was earnestly reciting the menu, closing her eyes, she hummed affirmatively without daring to look at James Black’s expression or make any eye contact with him.

As long as James Black wasn’t deaf, he must have heard everything word for word.

Such an overly diligent waiter.

Bad review, no excuses.

After all the calculations, I didn’t expect this restaurant’s waiter to be so conscientious about confirming orders with customers.

"Add one fruit yogurt," James Black said, his voice tinged with a hint of laughter, though it was faint, making it hard to detect any particular emotion.

"Okay, please wait a moment," the waiter nodded and took the menu with him.

It was only then that James Black looked towards the woman sitting opposite, still covering her ears and twisting her head as if she was very seriously admiring the restaurant’s decor.

Fooling herself but deceiving no one.

James Black poured Jane Sampson a cup of the shop’s special pepper tea and placed it in front of her. His fingertips lightly touched the back of her hand that was covering her ears, "Okay, I’m not blind, I’ve known since you hastily checked off the menu with a pen."

Jane Sampson finally took her hands down and then raised two fingers towards James Black and bent them, "Just two skewers! I ordered four skewers, two for you, two for me, I just had a craving. Eating two won’t give me acne, at worst I’ll just drink more honey water when I get home! Plus, you made me honey lemon water today, that offsets it too."

"Mm," James Black saw that Jane Sampson was somewhat sensible, aware of the need to rein herself in, as well as feeling a bit scared and guilty, so he didn’t push the issue and simply responded affirmatively, which was as good as agreeing.
