Chapter 672 - 680: A Little Fun
"Really?" Bright Sampton sounded genuinely disappointed, "But I think what mom said makes sense. You and brother-in-law have been married for many years now, and you both are getting old. Aren’t you planning on having a child?"
"Hold on, Bright Sampton, I need to correct you there," Jane Sampson said emphatically, "I’m not old! James Black is old, I’m still young, like a pretty little fairy!"
"..." Bright Sampton coughed twice, thought about it, then asked, "Isn’t brother-in-law sitting across from you at this time?"
Bright Sampton figured that he wasn’t, right? Otherwise, where would Jane get the courage to call President Black old to his face?
!!!
Jane’s hand holding the mobile phone shook slightly!
Doomed! Completely doomed!
A moment of candor brings a lifetime of regret!
Jane sneakily, quietly lifted her eyes to glance at the man sitting across, and sure enough, James Black was staring at her, his expression...
His face dark as a debt collector’s.
Jane’s heart skipped a beat. Did she just refer to James Black by his full name as old?
Or did she not mention his name?
"Sis, my brother-in-law is sitting next to you, right?" As soon as Jane went silent, Bright guessed the situation over there.
"Yeah." Jane said with a tone of sheer sadness and despair, "Bright Sampton, did you do this on purpose to trap me?"
"How could I? I’m just urging you to give me a nephew," Bright replied with a chuckle, "Mom brainwashed me today, and I think she’s right. It’s time for you and brother-in-law to have a child. I’ve saved quite a bit of pocket money and already thought about what pretty little clothes to buy for my nephew."
"I’m not having one! I wouldn’t have a child with James Black even if he were the last man on earth!" Jane huffed with a petulant look on her face.
"Sis, I salute you as a true man." If Jane could say that in front of James, it seemed she was ready to meet her maker.
"He was still complaining about me being annoying yesterday! Said that with me being like this, any child I’d have would definitely be more troublesome!" Jane complained to Bright, "Troublesome? Am I that kind of person?"
"Monkey King of Sampton, you are," Bright roared with laughter over the phone, teasingly saying, "My dear sister, I wish you good fertility, hanging up now, bye."
Bright chuckled and hung up the phone. Jane listened to his well-wishing and huffed, as good fortune clearly had nothing to do with her, given James’s frowning face.
Next time Bright comes here, she’ll have to prepare a whole table of delicious food, and then let him watch as she eats!
Listening to the buzzing sound, Jane slowly put down the phone, resisting the urge to look at James’s face, pretending to eat the chicken wings in her bowl with great interest.
"Jane Sampson." James waited until Jane had finished the call and seeing that she wasn’t about to explain herself, his expression grew even darker.
After calling the woman across from him by her full name and waiting half a day, all he got from Jane was a muffled acknowledgment.
After a few seconds of silence, James spoke in a particularly serious tone, earnestly saying to Jane, "I think it’s good for children to be a little boisterous. When they’re young, it’s natural for them to be lively."
James picked up another half of the chicken wing from the vegetable plate with his chopsticks and placed it in Jane’s bowl. He then continued, looking at Jane who hadn’t lifted her head, "So, you misunderstood me. I didn’t mind you being lively, nor would I mind our child being boisterous."
