Chapter 692 - 700: One Person at Home
Looking back, it was a stroke of luck that Jane Sampson wasn’t staying at the hotel. Otherwise, the journalists and media that had been staking out the hotel would have exposed her entering and exiting with a man in no time.
The place she was staying at was a villa district a bit far from the city district. When the car stopped at the house doorway, the person in charge of James Black’s company branch office in Smytheton was already waiting. He handed over the car and villa key to James without a second glance and without asking any questions before leaving. James Black moved the luggage and opened the door first. Coco Edwards and Jane Sampson followed a couple of steps behind. Then, Coco turned to Jane, "After you go in, take a good rest. I’ll come to get you for makeup at 3 in the afternoon. We’ve got a last-minute job this afternoon. A host from the Capital Province Television Station will personally interview the movie’s leading actor and the theme song’s creative team. The interview is scheduled from 4 to 5:30 p.m., and there’s no dinner planned afterward, so you can arrange your own time."
"Scheduled earlier?" Jane Sampson was astonished, "Just yesterday, Charlotte Miller told me the interview would be in two days."
"Yes, it was moved up at the last minute because they were worried about not having enough editing time at the TV station, so they moved it up. The leading actors of the movie all arrived as well, so Director John Young and the TV station’s leader had a talk and decided to bring it forward." Coco went on, "I heard the host will be Charlotte Miller."
"Alright," Jane Sampson nodded. Coco Edwards was also supposed to help her confirm what to wear for the interview that evening, so she didn’t stay to chatter with Jane. Jane waved goodbye to Coco, then turned back around and realized that James Black had been waiting for her at the door for quite a while.
She and Coco had not been speaking softly, and James Black was not far from her, so Jane knew that James had heard everything Coco had said to her.
"You’ll be home alone this afternoon," Jane said cheerfully as she walked over and hooked her arm through James’s. She pushed things a bit by standing on her toes and patting James on the head, "Be good, okay~"
James swept a glance at Jane, who was struggling on her tiptoes, and snorted, "When the interview is over, come back for dinner."
"You’re cooking?" Jane asked skeptically, "Tomato beef noodles?"
"I’ll buy groceries; you can cook when you get back." With that, James carried the luggage straight up to the master bedroom on the third floor.
Since they had decided to stay here, someone had cleaned the house in advance. As the door opened, they found the room and bed neatly made, with the windows letting the sunlight shine directly onto the bed.
This villa’s location and orientation were among the best in the district. The master bedroom’s light, coupled with a patio window, was so bright that one couldn’t find a single flaw.
Jane Sampson deliberately followed behind James with heavy footsteps, watching him unpack the suitcase. She slowly moved closer to him, mumbling, "What vegetables do you feel like eating tonight?"
"Depends on what I can find at the supermarket," James responded while holding the evening dress Jane was to wear for her performance. He then instructed her, "If you’re not helping, then just stand over there; don’t get in the way."
Jane clasped her hands behind her back and took a step back, obliging. She then asked, "What are we having for lunch?"
"Someone will deliver it in a while," said James. "I ordered our meal before I got off the airplane. Don’t worry, you won’t go hungry."
Jane chuckled and sat on the bed, watching James busying himself. Actually, bringing James along didn’t feel like a burden at all.
