Chapter 696 - 704: Thanks in Advance
Miss Forest’s styling ability is truly excellent. I’ve heard she went abroad to study, and her teacher is a famous stylist in the industry. Her skills in both clothing and makeup are counted among the top masters in the industry. Many people are queuing up just to have her teacher do their makeup. As the saying goes, ’a good student is better than their teacher,’ and it won’t be long before Miss Forest surpasses her."
Charlotte Miller said this and then followed it up with a low chuckle. "It’s great that Miss Forest is starting her styling studio. I’ll definitely come and support it next time."
Jane Sampson stood there, her gaze fixed on the characters displayed above the elevator, without any intention of engaging in further conversation with Charlotte Miller.
It wasn’t that she deliberately wanted to give her the cold shoulder, but Charlotte Miller’s flattery was just too blatant, and even Jane found it awkward to respond.
At this time of day, the building was very busy. Everyone had been waiting almost a minute before the elevator finally stopped on their floor. There were already quite a few people inside, so Jane thought for a moment, stepped back two paces, turned to the TV station personnel, and said, "You’re busy, you go ahead."
The TV station personnel, already in a hurry, felt even more grateful to Jane after hearing her say this.
"Alright, we won’t stand on ceremony with Miss Sampson then. Thank you in advance," one of the personnel said gratefully. In principle, they should have arrived at the interview venue earlier than the actors, but due to a small mishap and unfamiliarity with the hotel, they had made a futile trip and had delayed their time.
The personnel ushered a few colleagues in first and then turned to Charlotte Miller, who was still standing outside, to ask, "Charlotte Miller, do you want to come in, or wait for the next one? If you want to come in now, we can make room for you."
The elevator was already full, so considering the importance of the host, one of the inside personnel kindly offered.
"No need, I’m not in a hurry. You go ahead, I’ll wait for the next one," Charlotte Miller casually waved her hand.
As soon as the elevator door closed, only Charlotte Miller, Jane Sampson, and her assistant Coco Edwards were left standing outside. Charlotte Miller turned to look at Jane when Coco was helping Jane adjust her clothes and hair.
Charlotte Miller’s gaze landed on the necklace Jane was wearing around her neck and lingered for a few seconds, then it moved to her ears and remained for a few more seconds before shifting down to her wrists.
Suddenly, she asked, "The jewelry you’re wearing is quite nice. Which sponsor provided it?"
Jane was taken aback for a moment and was just about to speak when the elevator on the opposite side arrived. She opened her mouth, but her intended answer changed to, "The elevator is here. Let’s go in."
Once inside, Coco Edwards started talking to Jane. Jane, who was busy responding to Coco, completely forgot about the question Charlotte Miller had asked her earlier.
Jane Sampson and Charlotte Miller entered the Assembly Hall at the same time. The modest hall had been transformed into a temporary broadcast studio, and the personnel who had arrived early had already completed their handover with the hotel’s staff. Everything and everyone that needed to be in place was now set.
"Jane Sampson is here," John Young, who was standing near the doorway, called out as soon as he spotted Jane entering with the female host, prompting him to turn and inform James Carter.
"Brother Young, Mr. Carter," the first people Jane saw upon entering were these two old acquaintances. Since the other leading actors were already in position, John Young took Jane and James Carter on a quick introduction round, effectively serving as an acquaintance.
