Chapter 715 - 723: Time to Set Off

~4 min read 621 words

After doing Jane Sampson’s makeup, and with Quincy Forest still not ready next door, the two good sisters grabbed their mobile phones and huddled together to play a quick round before getting busy again.

Quincy Forest had just picked up her phone, which happened to be on the WhatsApp screen, and she casually glanced at it. Seeing a new video posted in a group that sparked a lot of discussion, she curiously clicked to watch it.

A few seconds later, Quincy Forest tugged at Jane Sampson and said with a surprised look, "Little Jane, does this video look like it’s of the building near our hotel?"

Jane Sampson leaned over for a look, then rewound the video to check the building’s sign, and nodded emphatically, "It is! It’s a car trip of ten to 20 minutes from the hotel; I have to pass by this building when I come to the hotel."

Having traveled back and forth these past few days, Jane Sampson had become very familiar with the building.

"What happened there?" Jane Sampson asked with curiosity, "Why are so many people gathered around in the video?"

"The person who filmed this in the group said someone is threatening to jump off the building and has even hijacked a little child to jump with them. This is really sinful. If someone wants to jump, let them, but hijacking a child is like seeking a death companion, isn’t it? That’s just too much. No one can stop him if he wants to end his own life, but when it comes to harming others, that’s not allowed."

"Right, it’s even worse because it’s a child. Look at the child in the video, so terrified they’re not even struggling at all; you can tell they’re scared stiff," Jane Sampson said with a heartache as she watched the child dangling in the air. "When was this video filmed? Do we know the outcome?"

Quincy Forest scrolled through the chat history and then added her own question.

The answer came back quickly.

"The person filming says it’s happening right now. He’s on the scene and just witnessed it. It just happened, and even the police haven’t arrived yet," Quincy Forest relayed.

"Hopefully, the police get there quickly and manage to save the child soon," remarked Jane Sampson wistfully.

At this time, the door to the room was knocked, and Coco Edwards went to open it. A while later, James Carter entered slowly, leaning on a cane.

"Mr. Carter!" Jane Sampson looked up and greeted James Carter, "Wow, Mr. Carter, you’re looking a bit too dashing with today’s outfit!"

Perhaps to match Jane Sampson’s pure white evening dress, James Carter also wore a pure white formal dress that day, making him look even more lively and spirited at first glance.

"Oh? You’re looking quite stunning yourself today," James Carter said with a genuine and comfortable smile, although he was not sure if there was any insincerity in Jane Sampson’s compliment, his praise was sincerely meant.

"Time’s about right; we should head to the conference venue now. By the way, where’s your husband? Has he arrived?" James Carter glanced at his watch.

"He sent me a message half an hour ago saying he had already left. I’ve arranged to meet him in the waiting hall at the venue and then head into the event together," Jane Sampson quickly grabbed her mobile phone and put it in her purse. Once Coco Edwards had slightly lifted her skirt hem for her, she followed James Carter out of the hotel, got into his car, and rushed to the venue.

The hotel wasn’t far from the premiere’s venue, just a car ride of a little more than half an hour away.
