Chapter 723 - 731: Not Tired of Standing
"It’s okay, we didn’t come here to drink water," Quincy Forest waved her hand. "As long as we don’t disturb the patient’s rest, we’ll leave now and come back tomorrow."
"Little Jane, should I stay with you instead?" Coco Edwards asked.
"Take Jane Sampson back with you," James Black suddenly spoke to Coco Edwards.
"No," Jane Sampson shook her head and looked towards James Black, "I want to stay with you for a short while longer."
Jane Sampson’s voice was very soft, her eyes red from crying all night, looking quite pitiable.
The words of refusal turned around in James Black’s mouth but ultimately he didn’t have the heart to say them.
Although she hadn’t known Jane Sampson for a long time, Coco Edwards really felt like she understood Jane quite well.
As soon as Jane Sampson said that, she knew what Jane meant.
"Then I’ll head back first and call me later," Coco Edwards tactfully followed the others out of the ward.
"Then Mr. Black, we’ll be heading back as well," the two visiting police officers said following suit.
"Mm, keep an eye on the media for me, don’t let a single bit of my information leak out. Also, stay vigilant here at the hospital; I don’t want a word about my wife’s situation to get out," James Black said in a somewhat stern tone.
"Don’t worry, we understand," the police officers hurriedly nodded in assurance. After the incident of the hostage jumping and committing suicide spread on Moments and WhatsApp, many media reporters said they wanted to interview the hero who saved the person.
But they were all blocked by the police.
Just joking, this is a defender, and not just any ordinary defender, but one known by the big shots from Capital Province. Could it be that easy for these people to get an interview just because they said so?
Fortunately, the incident happened at the top of the building, so no one captured the footage of James Black saving the person. The onlookers at the time only knew the child was saved but didn’t know who had saved the child.
As for the doctors at the hospital, they were all from within the workplace system, which made managing their perspective even easier.
Once everyone left, the once bustling ward quieted down abruptly.
It was only then that the nurse spoke to Jane Sampson about the precautions for taking care of the patient. She had barely started speaking when James Black in the bed interrupted her.
"Just get me a caregiver," James Black said.
The nurse was taken aback for a moment, then nodded, "That works, caregivers have plenty of experience and really do know how to take care of patients."
After saying that, the nurse added, "But it might not be so quick to find a good caregiver. Tomorrow morning, I should be able to arrange for one for you."
"That’s fine," James Black murmured in approval. After the nurse closed the door to the ward and left, he called out to Jane Sampson, who had been standing there with her head down all this time, "Aren’t you tired of standing?"
Only then did Jane Sampson sit down on a chair next to her, still looking sullen and unhappy.
After hesitating for half a day, Jane Sampson finally asked, "Do you think I won’t be able to take good care of you?"
"No," James Black realized that his earlier haste in cutting off the nurse to request a caregiver might have led Jane Sampson to misunderstand that he found her clumsy.
"Taking care of someone is tiring work, and you don’t need to do it," James Black explained.
"How can it be tiring work?" Jane Sampson lifted her head to look at James Black earnestly, "When I’m sick, you take care of me, when you’re hurt, I take care of you, it’s only right!"
James Black curved the corner of his mouth into a low smile, without saying anything.
Watching Jane Sampson pouting while seated there, James Black then asked her, "You’ve dreamed of performing on stage with your Mr. Carter, and finally an opportunity came, and you worked so hard for it, aren’t you regretting saying you won’t go?"
