Chapter 734 - 742: Definitely Going to Kill You
Jane Sampson and Coco Edwards were chatting at the doorway when James Black had already gone inside and sat in the living room, waiting for Jane Sampson.
"Come here," hearing Jane Sampson’s bounding footsteps, James Black, seated there, called out to her.
Flustered with her purse in hand, Jane Sampson responded, then hastened her steps and ran over, sitting obediently by James Black’s side, and began to speak, "Chief Black, what are your orders?"
Her words made James Black look at her deeply.
"Use my phone to call Peter Gingery. I have something to explain to him. Hold the phone to my ear for me," James Black instructed. "I remember my phone is in your purse."
"It’s here." Jane Sampson nodded, quickly retrieved James Black’s phone from her purse, and unlocked it in no time.
James Black just sat next to her and watched Jane Sampson skillfully open his phone, not even needing to search the phone book for Peter Gingery’s number. Her fingers moved nimbly and she quickly dialed eleven numbers before making the call.
She had memorized Peter Gingery’s phone number now?
Unaware that James Black was watching her, Jane Sampson waited for the call to connect, then held it to her own ear and greeted Peter Gingery on the line before saying, "Your brother has something to tell you, and, if you dare to be a blabbermouth, I’ll make sure you’re dead when I get back!"
After threatening Peter Gingery, Jane Sampson placed the phone by James Black’s ear, noticed him glancing at her, then quickly averted her gaze from his face, her eyes smartly scanning around the room.
James Black huffed lightly before speaking to Peter Gingery on the call.
"An accident happened yesterday afternoon; I injured my hand and underwent minor surgery last night. I’ve just been discharged from the hospital. I’ll delay my return to Capital Province by a week. Keep an eye on the guard team for now. And regarding my injury, don’t tell anyone, including grandfather and auntie," James Black said.
Upon hearing that James Black was injured, Peter Gingery was startled, "You had surgery? Is it serious? Why didn’t you tell me earlier last night? I could have taken today off and booked a flight ticket to come see you."
"It’s just a minor surgery, not serious. You don’t need to come over, and there’s no need to let anyone know about my injury," James Black continued, assigning many official matters regarding the guard team to Peter Gingery.
Despite Peter Gingery usually not seeming to take things seriously, James Black was very confident in entrusting him with responsibilities. Anything handed to Peter Gingery, he would make the utmost effort to complete.
After giving his instructions, James Black spoke with Peter Gingery for about five or six minutes. Jane Sampson, holding the phone, switched from her left to right hand, and her right hand back to her left, her head almost resting on his shoulder, evidently suffering from arm fatigue.
James Black noticed this and decided to hang up the phone after completing his explanation.
Yet, in the final second, he suddenly thought of something.
He asked, "Why did you threaten him just now?"
James Black’s question instantly jolted Jane Sampson, who had been on the verge of dozing off. Through the phone, she shouted fiercely at Peter Gingery, "If you dare speak a word, I’ll kill you! Seriously, I’ll kill you!"
"Damn it!" Peter Gingery growled on the line, "You and your husband both threaten me?"
Jane Sampson thought it over and concluded that Peter Gingery would ultimately choose to let her ’kill’ him rather than defy James Black.
So, for once in her life, Jane Sampson acted with rare quick-wittedness, swiftly cut off the phone call, and Peter Gingery’s voice came to an abrupt halt.
