Chapter 785 - 793: Permanent Preservation
Jane Sampson, who was originally counting, burst into laughter upon hearing James Black’s question.
"I’m making dried flowers." Jane Sampson said with a gentle smile, "This is the first time I’ve received flowers, and also the first time you’ve sent me flowers; it’s too meaningful, so I must make a few into dried flowers to preserve them forever."
If it wasn’t for the fact that 999 flowers, even if all were turned into dried flowers, wouldn’t fit anywhere, Jane Sampson would have liked to preserve all of them as dried flowers.
It was just a coincidence that as soon as Jane Sampson finished answering James Black’s question, her mobile phone rang right on cue.
Seeing that the call was from Grandpa Sampton, Jane Sampson immediately picked up.
"Are you up from your lunch break at this time? Grandpa didn’t disturb you, did he?" As soon as Jane Sampson picked up the phone, Grandpa Sampton asked with concern, and upon hearing that Jane had not taken a lunch break today, he grew worried, "Weren’t you recently off work over there? If you have time, why not take a nap? Is it very hard and busy taking care of James Black? If it’s difficult, find a temporary caregiver to help, it’s not good if you wear yourself out."
"Taking care of him isn’t hard. He’s not that kind of particularly spoiled person. One who’s too proud to show weakness; he wouldn’t call me for help unless it’s absolutely necessary." Speaking with Grandpa Sampton, Jane Sampson didn’t hold back her true nature at all; as soon as she began to speak, whatever was on her mind came out of her mouth—apparently forgetting that the very person she was calling proud at this moment was right next to her, listening to her talk on the phone.
"That’s right, James Black is a child with a steady nature; he doesn’t make people worry. By the way, how is his recovery from the injury going?" Grandpa Sampton asked.
"From what I can see so far, it’s alright. I’ll know more after the reexamination at the hospital tomorrow." Jane Sampson replied halfway before realizing something and let out a "huh," "Grandpa, how did you know about James Black’s injury?"
She and James Black had not yet told the grandparents.
Previously, Jane had discussed with James Black that they would tell the family’s seniors after returning to the Capital Province.
"There’s a doctor in the hospital who is my teammate’s grandson. Back when you and James Black got married, he attended your wedding with his grandpa. He recognized you guys at the hospital and mentioned it to my teammate later, and that’s how I found out. You kids have all learned to report the good and not the bad," Grandpa Sampton said helplessly.
"Isn’t it because we don’t want you to worry? James Black and I never intended to keep it a secret from you guys for long. We’ll be back in the Capital Province in a few days, and then we’ll tell you." Jane Sampson cooed, "Grandpa, don’t worry, James Black is doing just fine."
"Alright, let me know the day you guys are coming back, and I’ll call you and Grandma. Then, your grandma and I will come over, and we’ll bring you some free-range chicken and eggs to nourish you both." Grandpa Sampton said, and after finishing, he suddenly remembered to ask, "If you’re not napping, what are you busy with? Are you causing trouble for James Black?"
"I swear, I’m not," Jane Sampson replied with utmost seriousness.
Having said that, Jane Sampson couldn’t help but giggle mischievously, "Grandpa, hang up the phone, let’s start a WhatsAPP video call, and I’ll show you the roses that James Black sent me! 999 roses, they were so heavy it took me a lot of effort to hold them."
Grandpa Sampton thought he must have heard wrong upon hearing this.
James Black sent flowers to Jane Sampson?
And 999 roses at that?
Since when did James Black start playing the romantic?
Now, Grandpa Sampton was truly curious. He hung up the phone and immediately called Granny Sampton over, then sent a WhatsAPP video call to Jane Sampson.
