Chapter 796 - 804: Seems Wonderful
"Brother Sampton, what wind blew you from paradise haven to my place? Just a few days ago, I was thinking about how unbearably hot it was and considered visiting you for two days," Old Master Black said as he approached Grandpa Sampton and playfully punched him on the shoulder. "Let’s go inside."
"Grandpa," Jane Sampton called out sweetly from behind.
"Ah, I see, I see. And there’s Bright Sampton, that youngster; I haven’t seen him in some time," Old Master Black said with a grin wide enough to stick his tongue through, gesturing at Bright Sampton, who had just stepped out of the driver’s seat. "The lad is becoming more handsome by the day, almost catching up to my younger days."
Bright Sampton twitched the corner of his mouth. Old Master Black had always maintained an image of a stubborn old imp, with a particularly serious disposition in Bright’s mind. Hearing Old Master Black joke so cheerfully all of a sudden nearly gave him indigestion.
Old Master Black exchanged a few words with each person, but deliberately ignored James Black until everyone had entered the house and sat down. It was then, while holding the tea leaves Alexander Forest had given to Old Master Black, that he seemed to finally notice James Black.
After taking the tea leaves, he verbalized many praises about how sensible Alexander was.
After extolling Alexander, Old Master Black glanced at James Black’s arm and then turned to ask Jane Sampton, "Has this young fellow been solely under your care these past few days? He used to be so fierce towards you; didn’t you think of seizing this chance to let him fend for himself?"
Jane Sampton almost spat out her tea.
"Grandpa, that idea now sounds quite brilliant," Jane Sampton said, nodding earnestly.
She also noticed James Black, who was brewing tea with his right hand, glance at her. Jane Sampton curved her brows and eyes into a sweet smile towards James Black, pretending not to understand the meaning behind his look.
Having just come indoors, the Great General wagged his tail leisurely as he entered. Hearing the lively chatter in the living room, he paused in the doorway for a few seconds. Then, suddenly hearing Jane Sampton’s voice, he barked crazily and dashed from the doorway into the room.
Because he was running too fast, he couldn’t stop in time and directly slammed his head against James Black’s legs. Dazed, the Great General spun around, and without seeing the person blocking his path clearly, he showed an aggressive face and barked.
After barking, upon realizing it was James Black, he quickly put on a smiling face, wagging his tail and feigning stupidity. Seeing that James Black ignored him, he quickly maneuvered around James and continued running towards Jane Sampton, leaping into her arms, his tail wagging as if it would reach heaven.
"Oh my, Great General, I brought the candies for you this time! I’ll give them to you later. I kept them specially for you, they’re as big as your face," Jane Sampton said while continuously petting the Great General’s head.
Hearing Jane Sampton mention the ’specially kept for you,’ James Black’s lips slightly curled.
Truly, she speaks with humans as with humans, with dogs as with dogs.
It’s obviously because she crushed it by sitting on it with her butt.
Birds of a feather flock together; what kind of dog likes what kind of person.
Silly.
Watching the interaction between Jane Sampton and the Great General, Bright Sampton sat on the side and, for some reason, a sentence popped into his mind.
Everyone in my sister’s husband’s family, even the dogs, likes my sister a lot. My sister is truly charming and cute.
Self-admiring and brainwashing as it may sound, it really matched the scene before him.
