Chapter 814 - 822 It’s Twelve O’clock
The first to hear the sound, as he was preparing to go to school and passed by Peter Gingery’s room doorway, was James Black. He remembered that when he entered the room, the first thing that came to his mind was, "This little miss from next door really knows how to stir things up."
Jane Sampson once again pretended not to hear James teasing her and glanced at the alarm clock on the bedhead cabinet.
She got excited all over again.
"James, it’s twelve o’clock! It’s twelve o’clock!"
This Valentine’s Day was especially significant and memorable for Jane Sampson, which was why she was so excited all evening.
It was her first Valentine’s Day, and also the first she had spent with James.
"Hmm," James nodded, just as he was about to speak about the gift, Jane beat him to it.
"James, I’ve prepared a gift for you! I’m going to give it to you now! Close your eyes, and don’t you dare peek until I say you can open them!" Jane jumped around and ran up to James, waving her hand in front of his eyes to urge him, "Hurry up and close your eyes!"
James raised an eyebrow and, as Jane wished, closed his eyes.
"Don’t peek now!" Jane reminded him again, unsure, and waved her hand in front of him again, "I’m testing you, guess how many fingers I’m holding up."
Without even thinking, James replied, "A fist."
Jane blinked, looked at James who clearly had his eyes closed, then at her own clenched fist, and felt frustrated.
"I guessed right." Once Jane fell silent, James knew he had guessed correctly. He didn’t fully understand the character of the girl in front of him, but he had mostly figured her out.
"Anyway, I didn’t say you could open your eyes, so you shouldn’t!" Jane grudgingly pulled her hand back and then constantly turned to check on James, taking over a minute before she went to the cloakroom to fetch the watch.
After she returned to James’s side, she thought for a moment and said, "You still can’t open them."
While speaking, she grabbed James’s right hand and personally put the watch on him.
Seeing how perfectly it fit his wrist, Jane couldn’t help but smugly smirk; she was clever, having adjusted it at the specialty counter using another watch from James’s home.
After fitting the watch on James, Jane decided to tease a bit and deliberately asked, "Guess what I got you?"
The moment he felt the cold touch on his wrist, James had already guessed what it was.
But, enjoying Jane’s good mood in teasing him, James unusually played along with her joke.
"If it’s a leaf painting, I’m definitely throwing it away," James said.
Although she knew James was teasing her, Jane still laughed heartily, very happy, and then lightly tapped on James’s eyelids, "You can open your eyes now!"
The next second, James’s eyelashes trembled lightly, and he slowly opened his eyes.
The first thing he saw wasn’t the item on his wrist but Jane’s radiantly smiling face.
She was laughing joyously, like a carefree child, her eyes sparkling with stars, clear, only for his face. Such a smiling face was captured by James and then kept in his heartland.
"Do you like it?" Jane sat in front of James, her face full of anticipation as she asked.
