Chapter 830 - 838: Take It Down
But, Charlotte Miller still kept it from her agency.
Jane Sampson reflected for a moment. How had she offended Charlotte Miller to such an extent that Charlotte resorted to such underhanded tactics against her? The person on the phone was still sending voice messages to James Black, and James didn’t need to click anything; after one message played, the system would automatically play the next one.
"As for the newly emerged ’little fairy’ on twitter who always tells the truth, we haven’t found out who it is yet, because this twitter account has only just appeared. I just finished reading this message when you sent me yours,"
"I didn’t even need to ask you to know you would definitely want me to find out who this person is, so I’ve already started looking into it. However, it might take some time."
After James Black listened to all the voice messages, he replied to the other person, "Thanks. Once you find out, I’ll pay you directly."
"All good, all good. Who’s afraid? I’m certainly not worried about you, James Black, defaulting on your payment,"
James Black chuckled, then set his mobile phone next down next to him and turned to look at Jane Sampson.
"Heard it all?" James asked.
Jane Sampson nodded gently, then finally took her mobile phone down from her ear as the call had ended a long time ago.
"It’s Charlotte Miller again." Jane frowned. "She and I have no grievances. What reason does she have to do these things that harm others without benefiting herself? If we really have to talk about offending her, we got along fine when we were recording the show, right?"
"Sometimes, some people do bad things not because they need a reason. Or perhaps, jealousy is reason enough," James touched Jane’s head gently, "Maybe she’s jealous of you."
Just like it was said on twitter, Jane is one of the few in the industry who managed to rise so quickly to her current position in a very short time. In just about half a year, even some celebrities who have been second-tier for many years can’t compete with Jane’s current popularity.
Having said that, James again passed the lunch that Peter Gingery brought back to Jane, "Eat up, and then I’ll join you for a break before we return to the office."
Jane hummed in agreement, was just about to get up to fetch chopsticks from the kitchen, when James reached out again to push her back onto the sofa, "Sit down, I’ll get them for you."
Jane, thus, comfortably sat there and enjoyed James’s service.
As she ate, taking small bites, James didn’t speak but just sat next to her in silence, watching her intentionally eat slowly and not rushing her.
Glancing at James’s face a couple of times and seeing no signs of anger, Jane suddenly found it no longer amusing to eat slowly on purpose.
When her gaze shifted from him, by chance, she noticed something on James’s left hand. Looking closely, she realized it was the watch she had given him last night.
Jane, surprised, stopped eating and stood up to walk over to James, saying, "Your hand hasn’t healed yet, how can you wear a watch! Take it off right away!"
James reacted faster than Jane, quickly turning to dodge her hand that reached to help him remove the watch.
"Sit back down," James chided Jane, "finish your meal."
"I can’t eat anymore." Jane touched her belly and showed James, "I’m full." After saying that, she even belched in front of James.
Initially, Peter Gingery thought it was for James so he brought a lot of food, but Jane ate only half and couldn’t eat any further.
