Chapter 832 - 840 Disheveled

So, after she woke up, she didn’t even touch her purse, so, is she still at the guard team base?

James Black walked over and directly fished out the car key from inside, confirming that Jane Sampson was indeed still at the guard team base.

Then, not at home, she must have woken up from a nap alone and, feeling bored by herself in the dormitory, decided to take a walk.

Thinking this, James Black inexplicably breathed a sigh of relief.

When he stepped out again, he felt a bit lighter.

James Black circled around the dormitory area without finding Jane Sampson, until finally locating her on the basketball court.

Approaching the basketball court, James Black could see from a distance the woman in a knee-length skirt and white flat shoes, jumping around and laughing and chatting with the men next to her.

He didn’t even need to get closer to tell from her current expression that she was in a great mood.

"Jane Sampson," James Black called out in a deep voice to the unsuspecting person after getting closer.

However, amid the noisy crowd, his call to Jane Sampson was immediately drowned out by the boisterous sounds.

James Black watched as Jane Sampson and a few shirtless men played basketball and murmured among themselves, their foreheads almost touching.

James Black’s expression darkened rapidly, and he briskly walked over, forcefully pulling the unaware woman out from the center of the group.

"Hey, hey, hey! Who’s that? Who’s that?" Jane Sampson, being in the midst of an engaging conversation, was suddenly yanked away and puckered her lips unhappily.

The team members over there also called out "hey" three times and then looked back at Jane Sampson’s direction, and with one glance, they recognized the all-too-familiar stern-faced Chief.

"Good evening, Chief!"

"Good evening, Chief!"

The group quickly greeted James Black and scattered from their previous spectatorship, leaving behind only a group of sweat-drenched, shirtless men who had just finished playing basketball.

"Disorderly appearance! All listen up! 10 kilometers load-bearing! You can go for dinner only after you’re done," James Black yelled sternly, and then continued to drag Jane Sampson away from the basketball court.

With a bewildered look, Jane Sampson turned her head to glance at her equally clueless team members and softly called out to James Black, saying, "They were just playing basketball, in such hot weather. This is the guard team base, not somewhere else. Playing a game of basketball shirtless doesn’t seem too excessive, does it?"

"Are you pleading on their behalf?" James Black’s voice turned cold.

Jane Sampson’s heart skipped a beat, and she quickly shook her head saying repeatedly, "Disorderly appearance is unsightly and undermines morality! They deserve the punishment!"

Although she had no idea why James Black was suddenly upset, she knew that going along with him at this time couldn’t be wrong.

After Jane Sampson spoke, seeing that James Black was still looking at her, she gave an especially sheepish giggle.

"What were you whispering about just now?" James Black’s face lightened a little as he asked.

"We were talking about organizing a basketball game. The losing side will treat each member of the winning side to an ice cream," Jane blurted out. "You arrived right in the middle of the game."

Her tone was full of the disappointment of an interrupted event.

"Their win or loss, what does it have to do with you?" James Black snorted. "You don’t play."

"I was the referee! Whichever side lost would have also treated me," Jane Sampson said, getting excited and even shaking the hand that James Black was holding, "Right, this afternoon I also went to the shooting range. Peter Gingery taught me twice more, and I finally stopped missing the target. I got Peter so excited; he almost started running circles around the shooting range."
