Chapter 845 - 853: Be a Little Nicer to Her

James Black didn’t know if it was an illusion, but he always felt that Jane Sampson, especially tonight, was particularly clinging to him.

Even as she slept, her hands instinctively held tight to him, her entire person unconsciously burrowing into his embrace. Seeing her restless sleep, James Black’s right hand gently patted her back and only then did Jane Sampson’s eyebrows gradually smooth out, and she slept much more peacefully.

James Black waited until Jane Sampson had fallen deeply asleep, then went to the guest room next door to call Bright Sampton.

Bright Sampton sighed softly as he spoke. Marrying James Black and being sold to James Black were two entirely different matters.

One meant that her family and her status were still intact, that the Sampton family still retained a little bit of affection for her.

The latter, however, signified that she was merely a sacrifice, an item that had been given away in a transaction.

And the person who traded her as a commodity was her father, the one she thought might still have some father-daughter affection for her.

The many years of hope and thoughts came crashing down in the moment that stark truth was revealed.

Not just for Jane Sampson, even Bright Sampton himself was incredibly shocked. He truly hadn’t expected that his father would trade Jane Sampson to the Black family, to James Black, in such a manner.

Bright Sampton couldn’t even bear to imagine, under such circumstances, if Jane Sampson married into the Black family and they weren’t good people, then how much esteem would a person who was traded as an item receive from her husband’s family?

If the Black family didn’t all love Jane Sampson, then facing even a slightly bad family, Jane Sampson’s situation as a forced bride could be so bad that she might not even be able to stand up for herself against mistreatment.

"Brother-in-law, please treat my sister a bit better. Mom and dad always say that Julie Sampton has it tough, but from what I see, the one who’s had the hardest time in our family is my sister, and she’s the one I ache for the most. If one day you don’t want to be good to her anymore, or you don’t want her, don’t bully her. Brother-in-law, then just tell me directly. I, Bright Sampton, will definitely come to your house personally to take her back, rather than let her continue to stay there and annoy you. I, Bright Sampton, may not be much of a somebody, but I am certainly more than capable of taking care of my sister,"

he said, his voice becoming choked up, "Brother-in-law, I’m begging you, don’t hurt her, not even a little bit. If you can’t do that, then give my sister back to me, I’ll take care of her, I’ll protect her."

Bright Sampton pleaded in a low voice, wishing he could take Jane Sampson into his care and protect her right then.
