Chapter 847 - 855 Which Day Doesn’t Look Good
"You make such good points, I find myself at a loss for words." Jane Sampson was rendered speechless by James Black’s comments, and before she knew it, she had accepted the hairpin and put it to use.
Her long hair was simply tied back with a single jade hairpin, giving her an appearance of greatly enhanced gentleness and grace.
However, considering the role she was auditioning for today, Jane Sampson still put some careful thought into her eye makeup, to make herself look gentle yet with an underlying decisiveness and sternness.
The female supporting role in the script was exactly that sort of character.
James Black waited until Jane Sampson was ready before they left the building together. His team member had just arrived downstairs to wait for him. He watched as Jane Sampson got into Coco Edwards’ car before he instructed his subordinate to drive away.
"Our sister-in-law looks really beautiful today," said the team member who was driving, unable to resist praising Jane Sampson after starting the car, "Chief really has an eye for picking a wife."
James Black’s gaze involuntarily followed the car Jane was in, and he slightly curved the corners of his mouth.
"When has she ever not looked good?" James Black retorted to his driver, his tone unable to conceal a sense of pride.
The driving team member broke into a sweat, having never seen someone so openly boast about his own wife. Their Chief was probably the first in the world to do so.
However, after giving it some thought, the team member smiled, nodded, and thought to himself indeed, when had their sister-in-law ever not looked good?
Jane Sampson was unaware of this little interlude from James Black. She got in Coco Edwards’ car, and they headed to the audition site.
Coco Edwards was a steady driver. Naturally, she couldn’t help but bring up yesterday’s incident on the internet with Jane.
"That ’Honest Little Fairy’ on Twitter deleted her own tweet, and now there’s a group of people bashing her online for shamelessly clout chasing. We should try to keep a low profile today; if reporters spot us, they are sure to harp on about it endlessly," Coco Edwards said, oblivious to the true extent of Jane Sampson’s family background.
But since Rock Bell had instructed Jane Sampson to avoid the media these past days, Coco Edwards would do just that.
Jane Sampson responded in a low voice, acknowledging that she understood.
An hour later, the car arrived downstairs. Jane Sampson was early, so there were no reporters at the doorway yet. Just to be cautious, Coco Edwards took Jane through the back door.
"Sister Bell mentioned that this drama’s director has high standards for actors, but I think you’ll have no problem, little Jane," said Coco Edwards as she led Jane directly to the great hall for the audition, adding, "A lot of people are vying for the role you’re auditioning for. Look over there, both are currently so-called new leading ladies, one aiming for the female lead and the other for the female supporting role."
Jane Sampson looked over in that direction and nodded. She had been mentally prepared, knowing that it wouldn’t be easy to land the role.
"Miss Sampson," a film crew personnel approached Jane as soon as they saw her and greeted her, "Sister Bell had already spoken to me earlier. When the audition ahead of you is over, you can go in."
"Do I need makeup?" Coco Edwards turned to ask the personnel.
"No need, our director said you can just go straight up for the audition, there’s no need to go through makeup. There are too many people coming to audition, and it would be a bit of a time waster," the personnel said with a smile, "Actually, the director and producer have a sharp eye, they can tell at a glance whether an actor is a fit for this drama or not."
