Chapter 864 - 872: Ready
The road that had been walked just this morning, but this time, someone had to lead the way.
"Miss Sampson, the director mentioned that once Miss Sampson arrives and is ready, you can go straight in without waiting," said the receptionist after leading her to the doorway and briefing the personnel next to her. Having handed over Jane Sampson, she looked back several times at the always smiling Jane, reluctantly going down the building.
The receptionist, after going down, still mumbled in her heart that Jane Sampton was genuinely nice, not putting on any airs and always smiling kindly at everyone.
The person who received Jane Sampson was still that personnel from the morning, only this time, exhibiting even more respect than before.
"Miss Sampson, would you like to start the audition now?" asked the personnel with a smile.
"Yes," Jane Sampson nodded, "I am ready."
After saying this, the personnel then opened the door and led Jane Sampson inside.
Someone was auditioning inside, but upon seeing Jane Sampson, the director immediately made a pause gesture.
Though it was a bit unfair to the person auditioning, with such a VIP arriving, fairness was no longer applicable.
"Miss Sampson," James Chip stood up to greet her personally because, after all, Jane Sampson was the personal choice of the drama’s biggest investor. No matter how James prided himself on his integrity, he couldn’t afford to be dismissive towards someone he had just persuaded to return that morning.
"Director," Jane Sampson replied with a genuinely warm smile, "Thank you, Director Chip, for giving me this opportunity."
James Chip could not discern if there was any mockery in Jane Sampson’s words, but seeing her sincere smile, he did not dwell on it and instead, asked the auditioning actor behind Jane Sampson to leave before telling Jane, "Miss Sampson, if you are ready, you can begin the audition at any time. If you’d like to wait a moment, you can sit here and prepare. Whenever you feel ready, we can start."
James Chip smiled, "However, I am quite confident in Miss Sampson’s acting skills. I have seen your performances, and although not many, they are quite good. Moreover, Miss Sampson, you are highly regarded within our circle of directors."
"You flatter me," Jane Sampson said modestly. She was prepared to wait until the previous person had finished auditioning, but seeing that person asked to leave by the director, Jane said she could start immediately.
James Chip was professional, supporting Jane Sampson when needed, yet was stringent when necessary.
He did not disadvantage Jane Sampson, nor did he ease her audition; he directly chose a scene and gave Jane five minutes to prepare, then asked her to perform.
This was not particularly difficult, yet it definitely wasn’t simple either. Fortunately, Jane Sampson had prepared extensively, glanced at the script, memorized the lines, nodded to James Chip and others, and immediately began her performance.
The scene was lengthy, and Jane Sampson took just over seven minutes to complete her audition, observing the expressions on the faces of James Chip and others, Jane breathed a sigh of relief.
She performed normally, which meant, the role was almost certainly hers.
"Alright, we’ll have someone send the contract to your company later," James Chip said to Jane Sampson, waving and smiling, rarely praising her, "You are a great prospect."
