Chapter 917 - 925: The Scholar
She took some antipyretics from the medicine box in the house, and the next morning, other than getting a pimple on her chin, she had no issues.
Jane remembered the cake that Yvette Quick had sent her but hadn’t gotten the chance to eat. The next morning, she saw it in the trash can at home, and Aunt Nanny said that Julie Sampton had thrown it away, claiming it didn’t taste good.
A few days later, when Yvette Quick asked Jane how the specially ordered cake was, Jane, fearing Yvette’s wild nature would lead her to go to the Sampton Family home and physically attack Julie, lied to Yvette, saying it was delicious.
Now, more than ten years later, hearing Yvette suggest going shopping, the first thing Jane thought of were the fragrances of all the snacks at the night market that day.
"Sure, when you’re free," Jane said with squinting eyes and a smile, "It’s just a pity that night market was later demolished, and it has now turned into a business district."
"City South’s night market isn’t the only one, Old Temple Street has been around longer, and it’s never going to be torn down," Yvette laughed. "Next time I’ll take you there."
"Sure, and look, I can cook now. When I get a chance, I’ll cook at home and invite you over," Jane began to brag. "Just tell me what you want to eat, and I can learn it. I’ve had great learning skills from when I was young."
"Little Jane isn’t kidding about that; her culinary skills are this good." Peter Gingery gave Jane a thumbs up as he praised her.
"Well then, I’m in for a treat," Yvette truly became excited. "Before I returned internationally, I accepted a job at Capital Province University, so I will be living in Capital Province for good now. Just a phone call from you when you cook at home, and I’ll be right over."
"Who would have thought, the wild sister from before is now about to be a role model," Peter remarked thoughtfully. "It’s really worrying. Yvette, will you end up teaching your students to fight?"
"I’ve been reformed for many years now. I am now a lady scholar, scholar, do you understand? Just like a bookworm," Yvette howled mournfully, "I have finally made it through."
Yvette and Thomas Lancaster were the highest educated in the private room; she was a few years older than Jane, who had graduated from university many years ago, and Yvette had just finished her studies.
A lady doctor, and super top student, too.
However, before going abroad, Yvette was the kind who dared to submit blank papers in monthly tests.
But it was precisely because the Quick family felt they could no longer manage Yvette, that they sent her to the foreign boarding military school for students, then entrusted Yvette to her aunt’s family internationally.
After having a few drinks, Thomas mentioned that Old Watson was waiting downstairs, so he called everyone to head downstairs to listen to Old Watson sing, and then the group left the private room and went downstairs.
The first floor of the clubhouse was filled with booths, with a stage at the front. Usually, two or three bands fixed by the clubhouse performed songs there.
Nowadays, Old Watson worked as a forensic doctor in City South, quite far from Capital Province. Usually having no affairs, he seldom returned to Capital Province, but as soon as he did this time, his addiction to singing surged again.
As soon as the group arrived at the clubhouse, Old Watson sent a message to James Black and went up on stage, greeted his old friends, and then discussed with the band what song to sing.
When Jane and her friends came downstairs, Old Watson was taking the electric guitar from the musician’s hand to tune it. From his high position on stage, as soon as he saw several of his friends downstairs, he raised his hand and waved to them.
