Chapter 940 - 948: The Stupid Brain Circuitry
Amber Edwards really thought too highly of herself, talking as if she could get anything, not expecting that the very next second, Coco Edwards would neatly put her in her place.
When Jane Sampson heard Amber say there’s nothing she couldn’t buy, she also wanted to ask where Amber had bought a fake hairpin to satisfy her craving. But upon further thought, Coco’s approach was a bit more direct.
So direct that Jane was even considering asking Rock Bell to give Coco a raise.
Amber stood there with a face dark as ink, and Jane didn’t continue to exchange weary glances with her.
After the start-up ceremony, Jane went to the makeup room to get her makeup done. Recently, Quincy Forest was busy preparing for her studio, so she didn’t capriciously run around anymore. Since the first episode, Jane’s character was a high-ranking concubine, which meant her makeup was the most intricate among the female leads.
Jane was still getting her makeup done inside, while Hibiscus Wood and the third female role, playing the close sisters of the female lead, had already started shooting outside. The makeup artist had finished Jane’s makeup and was now finalizing her hairstyle when Jane picked up her mobile phone and sent a WhatsAPP message to Nina Rice, who was too busy to reply right away.
It was only then that Jane remembered she hadn’t finished the review of the perfume "Dream River’s Summer" she had started writing. What really amazed her about "Dream River’s Summer" was the almost imperceptible fragrance in the base notes, the lightness of bamboo, with a hint of magnolia.
So comfortable that it inexplicably felt refreshing.
No wonder this perfume is named "Dream River’s Summer" – it truly suits the spring, autumn, and summer seasons.
Jane translated the sensation the base notes gave her into words, attached a picture, and finally posted it on twitter. Just as it showed that the post successfully went live, the makeup artist told Jane she was done. Jane didn’t have the chance to read the comments from her fans and handed her mobile phone to Coco and then left the dressing room.
By this time, the sun had already come out, and after a bout of rain, the weather in Capital Province wasn’t as hot anymore. Jane took her place and lifted her skirt hem to let her fair lower legs breath in the fresh air.
Mona Calm, dressed in a pink palace maid attire, walked up to Jane and sat down beside her. From her sleeve, she took out a lipstick and murmured to Jane, "Sister Jane, why do you think Amber specifically chose this lipstick as a gift for everyone? Is it a coincidence, or did she know that you recently promoted this lipstick on twitter and deliberately picked the same one?"
"I don’t know," Jane shrugged. "I’m not the roundworm in her belly, how would I know what she’s thinking?"
"Who can understand the thought process of an idiot?" Coco interjected with disdain. "Now that lipstick is being hyped by purchasing agents, and it’s far from cheap. Since Amber gave it to you, take it; don’t refuse freebies. If you don’t like the color, sell it on; you can make two or three hundred bucks easily."
"I liked it when I saw Sister Jane’s twitter post, but I couldn’t find it at the specialty counter," Mona confessed while twisting the lipstick in her hands, smiling shyly with a little embarrassment, "The price from purchasing agents was ridiculously high, so I’ve been hesitating to get it. I’ve seen many people try it on after getting the lipstick, but none of them looked as good as Sister Jane."
