Chapter 956 - 964 How Serious
Coco Edwards paid special attention to the term "little demon" and turned to glance at Jane Sampson.
"It’s nothing," James Black said dismissively, ready to move past the subject, "Next time I see Alexander Forest, I’ll deal with him. He’s just utterly boring all day long."
"Alexander Forest is quite wronged," Jane tapped her head, "It’s my fault for drinking too much that day and forgetting about it. When I saw Alexander Forest at the clubhouse, I asked him about the text message. Alexander said it wasn’t from him; he’s not that bored. I thought about telling you right then, but drinking leads to trouble. If you hadn’t mentioned it today, I would have completely forgotten about this incident."
Jane continued, "Alexander Forest said he loves to tease, but he wouldn’t send a message that could affect a friend’s marriage. I also think that although Alexander sometimes likes to joke, he probably isn’t the kind of person to cross the line."
"The most important thing," Jane went on, "is that with Alexander’s character, if it really was him, the day we blocked him, he would’ve immediately used his phone to call us and righteously ask you why you blocked his new number."
That was something Alexander Forest would do.
Being blocked and staying silent just wasn’t in Alexander’s nature.
Actually, James had already guessed it wasn’t Alexander, but he feared that explaining it to Jane over the phone wouldn’t be clear enough and she might become displeased. With her being far away, he wouldn’t be able to soothe her.
So he had laid the blame on Alexander, but he hadn’t expected Jane to be so perceptive at this moment, nor had he expected that Jane had asked Alexander about that text message when she was at the clubhouse that day.
"Read it to me. Don’t tell me it’s another message asking you to guess who it’s from?" Jane huffed, "Read it, read it."
"There’s nothing worth reading. I’ll have someone check who owns this number," James replied in a muted voice.
"..." At this point, if Jane Sampson couldn’t guess that the messages James received today were even more flirtatious than the last one, then her IQ would be in the negatives.
Very angry.
Extremely angry.
Jane, upset, sat thumping the back of the sofa, "James, there are serious consequences when I’m angry."
"How serious?" James asked with a low chuckle.
"So serious that I’m scared myself," Jane said coyly, "I’m warning you seriously, if you don’t read it, I will actually get angry. And if I get angry, I’ll stop talking to you, I’ll block you!"
Over there, Peter Gingery was sitting right next to James. There were no other sounds in the room. As long as Peter leaned in quietly towards James, he could make an effort to listen and hear what James and Jane were discussing on the phone.
Upon hearing that Jane wanted to listen to the content of the text message, Peter couldn’t help but be amused.
Then, without fear, he raised his voice to the phone and said, "Mr. Black, hello. Although I’m sad you blocked me once, it’s okay, I won’t get angry. Mr. Black, you must have finished dinner by now, right? After training the whole day, you must be very tired, right? I truly have deep sympathy for Mr. Black. So, Mr. Black, you must take good care of yourself! The weather is dry recently, remember to drink more water, Mr. Black!"
After speaking, Peter darted out of the room and closed the door behind him.
Jane, on the other end of the phone, heard everything loud and clear, and her heart was indeed churning with acidity.
