Chapter 977 - 985: Who Pushed Me?

~4 min read 633 words

"Let me change the way I’m asking this," Henry Bright said. "Who is the female lead? Step forward."

Jane Sampson saw the man opposite her growing increasingly impatient, surmised that the criminal might be provoked by the lack of response, so she focused on thinking of a way to stall the murderer.

The police shouldn’t be slow in their mountain climb; if she could just delay a while longer, when the police arrived, it would be better for everyone to scatter and run. However, Jane hadn’t expected that, just when she was deep in thought, suddenly, with a forceful push, she was thrust outward. Caught off guard, she tumbled out, landing right at the feet of the gun-wielding murderer.

"Who pushed me!" Jane yelled furiously at the group from the ground!

Henry Bright didn’t care whether the beautiful woman at his feet had been pushed or had come out on her own. He grabbed her up from the ground and took a look at the face of this female actress.

"You’re very beautiful, and your costume looks great. You’re the female lead, right? Still hiding within them, thinking I couldn’t find you? There, you ended up coming out anyway," Henry, holding the gun to Jane’s head, said with a chuckle. "I saw you in the crowd just now, and I guessed that the female lead was probably you. Who else here is as pretty as you?"

After speaking, Henry shouted at the remaining people, "The rest of you, get lost."

At Henry’s words, many people took to their heels and ran.

Hibiscus Wood glanced at the hostage Jane Sampson, clenched her teeth, and then followed her assistant along with the crowd.

Coco Edwards and a few film crew members, including Director James Chip, still stood there. Coco was crying, yet she dared not shout Jane Sampson’s name.

"What? You aren’t leaving? Planning to eat a bullet if you don’t?" Henry threatened. "Don’t stay here and get in my way!"

With so many people around, Henry was also wary of someone unafraid of death who might try to attack him.

Now that he had a hostage, it was enough. As long as he held the hostage, he and his younger brother could escape the Capital Province and fly far away.

"Director James, Coco, you go first," Jane Sampson called out to Director James Chip and Coco Edwards. She was cautious not to shout "Director" too loud, fearing that Henry might find a director more useful than a female lead and decide to switch hostages on the spot.

Seeing Henry’s fierce look, Director James finally nodded, and pulling the crying Coco, who was gritting her teeth, they left.

"Director, who really pushed my little Jane out? It’s too much," Coco wept as they walked on. "If the murderer had chosen my little Jane, we wouldn’t have a word to say, but our little Jane was pushed out. I hate that person so much!"

"If anything happens to little Jane, I’ll fight that person to the death!" Coco said, crying even harder. In her heart, she thought about rushing back to the place where little Jane’s husband was hiding to tell him little Jane had been taken hostage.

"I don’t know; I was focused on the murderer at that time, I wasn’t paying attention to anything else," Director James said, scratching his head. Then he asked his assistants, "Did you see who it was? In my crew, we wouldn’t employ such a person."

"We didn’t see, because we were all watching that criminal. Where do we have the energy to be distracted and watch others?" several assistants also shook their heads, clenching their teeth. "How could there be such a ruthless person who would push someone out like that? Isn’t that heart a bit too dark?"
