Ancient Immortal cultivation system:

During the mortal stage, there are four realms.

First realm: refining essence into Qi; second realm: refining Qi into Soul; third realm: refining Soul to return to Emptiness; fourth realm: refining Emptiness to merge with Dao.

Among these, the "Emptiness" in returning to Emptiness refers to Grand Emptiness.

What is Grand Emptiness?

Grand Emptiness has no form; it is the fundamental substance of Qi. Its gathering and dispersal are merely transient forms of change.

The essence and Qi of Grand Emptiness flow and fill the space between Heaven and Earth.

Grand Emptiness is the primordial Qi.

In the third stage of the Ancient Immortal system, one must first forge an indestructible Primordial Spirit, then locate the primordial Qi of the universe and Heaven and Earth, and merge the Primordial Spirit with it.

This is what is called refining Soul to return to Emptiness.

If one acts out of goodwill but opposes Heaven's Dao's evolution, the heavenly tribulation grows fiercer, and the cultivator's survival becomes uncertain.

Solitary cultivators, unaware of the cultivation thresholds and lacking elder guidance, often rely on magic treasures or cultivation base to resist the tribulation, and rarely one in a hundred survives—nine out of ten die.

If one barely survives the heavenly tribulation, then the Immortal Dao cultivation begins.
