Chapter 117: Hermes

~5 min read 921 words

Everything has ended.

Hermes’ will, suspended high in the sky, stirred slightly, his gaze sweeping across the entire planet.

He found the earth scarred and ruined; all survivors combined numbered less than ten million.

Hermes gazed at them with gentle eyes, watching them stare bewildered at this newborn world.

“Let me give Itachi one final gift.”

The next moment, all survivors were teleported together to a haven Hermes had carefully chosen for them.

Then, everyone witnessed a miracle.

Golden mist suddenly rose from heaven and earth—fragrance from the [Golden Wheat Field], each wisp saturated with the taste of sunlight.

Adults, moved to tears, walked to the wheat field; it would ensure they never starved again.

And the children, blessed by heaven, ran joyfully toward the grasslands; Tina, gazing at the [Sugar Crystal Grass] beneath her feet, its chimes ringing clearly, plucked a fragment—it shattered on her tongue into sweet nectar.

Watching the children’s joyful faces, Hermes smiled faintly and moved again.

The distant stream became the [Milk-Honey River], winding like a ribbon, its banks lined with the endless [Chocolate Rock Mountains], their peaks crowned with eternal [Vanilla Snowcaps].

When the wind, scented with cinnamon, blew through, the mountain shed fine snowfall of sugar dust.

Hermes permanently rewrote the laws of this haven.

“Though it still falls short of the Food Fantasy world’s Food Earth, where every delicacy contains the miraculous power of Food Cells.”

“But eating here still strengthens body and spirit.”

“Run happily here, under my blessing, and live joyfully with your companions!”

Hermes’ whisper lingered in the ears of all survivors.

Gazing at this paradise-like new world, every heart looked reverently to the sky, praying and giving thanks.

He did nothing further to this world.

Hermes’ will departed cleanly and decisively.

He opened the chat group; all members now seemed highly excited.

Chen Nan: “@Hermes, this new world is even better than I ever imagined.”

Chen Nan: “I know my abilities are too weak to repay Itachi.”

Chen Nan: “But if Itachi ever need anything, I will give everything I have!”

Hermes: “No need. As fellow countrymen, Itachi know this was something I always wanted to change.”

Chen Nan: “Still, Itachi truly gave every good soul in this world a paradise like Eden.”

Luo Qianqiu: “@Hermes, Itachi’ve done exactly what I wanted to do—but couldn’t.”

Luo Qianqiu: “Or rather, Itachi did it even better than I imagined!”

Luo Qianqiu: “I cursed those devilish humans and turned them into Qiuqiu people—why didn’t I think of doing it this way?”

Zhang Zhiwei: “@Luo Qianqiu, Boss, according to the group’s introduction, Itachi’re aware of the plot of my world, right?”

Luo Qianqiu: “Oh, I almost forgot about Itachi.”

Luo Qianqiu: “But I recall your world has Non-Submissive Gods, right?”

Luo Qianqiu: “This must be another mixed worldview!”

Hermes: “Judging by appearances, it is—though I don’t know how many worldviews are mixed.”

Returning from his satisfaction, Hermes watched Zhang Zhiwei’s message with interest.

Usually,

such mixed worldviews are far more interesting than single-world ones.

I wonder what surprises this world might offer him?

Zhang Zhiwei: “In my world, apart from a few immortals and awakened beings hiding in the Youjie, I, the Tian Shi of the Tian Shi Fu, am regarded alongside Albus Dumbledore, head of Hogwarts, as one of the two supreme leaders of the cultivation world.”

Zhang Zhiwei: “As for Godslayers, there are currently three in the entire world.”

Zhang Zhiwei: “The Ming Emperor Chongzhen, the Queen of Shadowland, Skadi, and Lady Aisha.”

Luo Qianqiu: “No way! Emperor Chongzhen didn’t hang himself in the southeast—he became a Godslayer?”

Luo Qianqiu: “And Skadi—she really killed a god in ancient times and lived on ever since?”

Luo Qianqiu: “And Lady Aisha… hmm.”

“There’s always a surprise.”

Watching Zhang Zhiwei’s depiction of the world’s state, Hermes nodded; it was indeed a fascinating world.

He found it intriguing, especially those flashy abilities.

But he still hadn’t had time to study the ability [Yellow Millet One Dream] he traded from Kage.

So he’d study this world later, when he had time.

He glanced at the Star Crown Court and saw the world developing steadily; Ruan Mei and Screw Gumu had caused no major incidents.

Hermes nodded slightly; if so, he’d allocate some resources to them first.

Trust isn’t built overnight.

Start with preliminary cooperation, then observe the results.

“Buer!”

Hermes called out, thinking for a moment.

Soon, Buer—like a personification of nature—appeared before him.

It was clear Buer’s progress had been astonishing; as the Star Crown Court grew stronger,

Buer, as the World Tree’s avatar, had gained ever greater weight in this world.

“Our Lord of Tianli has finally found time to see me.”

Having seen Hermes after years of relentless overtime, Buer gazed at him with weary, deep eyes.

“Itachi’ve worked hard, Buer. Once the Star Crown Court makes its ultimate leap into a Great Universe, Itachi won’t be so overwhelmed.”

Hermes looked at his trusted right hand and instinctively ruffled her hair.

“Lord Tianli, I’m no longer a child.”

Buer pouted.

Hermes smiled, unconcerned, then changed the subject: “By the way, how are Naxida and Little Larvitar?”

“Naxida is unchanged—she’ll need at least a few centuries to reach adulthood.”

“But Little Larvitar has already evolved into a Sableye.”

Buer’s expression softened as she spoke of the two: “Little Sableye now helps me handle a lot of work.”

“Sigh—I adopted Little Larvitar, yet I never properly cared for her.”

Hearing this, Hermes sighed, a tinge of guilt in his voice: “This is my failure.”
