Chapter 546: Tearing Off the Fig Leaf (Second update!)

Linyu sat in the media section, listening to Wen Yang's speech on stage while sending messages to Chen Siqi.

Her fingertips flew across the phone keyboard.

—The preliminary selection list for this year's Blue Ribbon Awards was not chosen by the preliminary judging committee; the list chosen by the committee was rejected by the organizing committee.

—At the same time, the Blue Ribbon organizing committee also announced that due to suspected unfair selection, they will never again invite Li Xiaolu, You Hao, and Fang Jinsong, the three members of the preliminary judging committee, to participate in any Blue Ribbon activities.

On stage, Wen Yang said: "Therefore, to ensure the fairness and objectivity of this year's Blue Ribbon Awards, and at the same time not delay the final judging, we invited five hundred public judges to select this year's nomination list. The five hundred public judges come from front-line staff in various industries related to film and television. With their consent, the list will be released shortly."

Linyu took a deep breath.

The surrounding discussions of disbelief were deafening.

How shocking this news was could be seen from the situation on the scene.

This is the first time a top-tier domestic film and television award has included ordinary staff and audience members in the judging system.

Even if there was a reason for it.

Linyu believed that Wen Yang would hold a special press conference for this matter, and there must be other things to announce.

Sure enough, the next second, Wen Yang continued: "Starting from this year's Blue Ribbon Awards, every subsequent preliminary judging will adopt a voting mechanism of five hundred public judges to select the nomination list."

Inside the venue, the sounds of people talking and discussing were so lively they could almost lift the roof off.

A reporter asked: "We received news that during the submission stage of this year's Blue Ribbon Awards, the organizing committee proposed modifications to some submissions, which has never happened before. May I ask why this situation occurred?"

Wen Yang said: "Are you talking about those who applied for Best Supporting Actor/Actress, and we suggested changing it to Best Actor/Actress? That did indeed happen. Our original intention was very simple: to let the supporting actor awards truly belong to supporting actors. We know that many applicants meet the requirements for supporting actor awards because as long as it's not the first billing, it can actually be considered a supporting role. But in reality, we have watched the works, and we all know that among the non-first-billing roles, there are many leads whose brilliance is no less than the leads. Compared to them, supporting actors need such an award more to gain our attention. Letting the brilliance of supporting actors be discovered is the original intention behind our suggestion for modification."

"The Blue Ribbon has taken a big step this time."

"No wonder this year's nomination list... turned out like this."

"Directly announcing that the list previously selected by the preliminary judging is unfair, tsk tsk, this makes it difficult for the Golden Tripod Awards."

"They didn't even want the fig leaf; they tore it right off."

"Fang Jinsong posted on his social media that he was slandered."

"Boring. If he has the ability, he should say it on a public platform. Putting on this posture is just to save face for himself. Wen Yang dared to name names directly at the press conference, so he must have mastered the evidence."

"Every year before, these people would sneak in some private goods, and today they got pecked in the eye by an eagle."

"I've been sick of them for a long time."

Lu Qingzhen and her girlfriends were sitting together having afternoon tea, and naturally, they talked about this explosive news.

Lu Qingzhen's girlfriends also work in this industry or related fields.

They often share information with each other.

Lu Qingzhen asked: "It seems this newly appointed Wen Yang of the Blue Ribbon is a bit ruthless, acting so decisively and not giving anyone face."

"Generally speaking, such things are indeed not exposed directly. Even if they are discovered, they are handled privately. Chinese people still prefer not to air dirty laundry in public. But Wen Yang is said to be a hardliner. It's gossip, I can't guarantee it's true, but they say he initially just wanted the three of them to withdraw from the judging panel and re-vote, but that night, someone from the organizing committee came to lobby him. Not just people from the organizing committee, but many others came to work on Wen Yang, hoping he would turn a blind eye, and Wen Yang just... flipped the table."

"This man is pretty awesome, ruthless enough."

"What is Wen Yang afraid of? Look at his resume; there must be someone backing him, otherwise, how could he play in so many circles?"

"The Blue Ribbon has changed. I don't know what will happen next."

"I'm more curious about how the Golden Tripod Awards will handle this."

"To be honest, the works shortlisted for the Blue Ribbon this time are indeed convincing."

"For an award, it's inevitable to have missed gems. The key is whether the shortlisted works can convince the public. Don't let those who should be shortlisted not be, and those who shouldn't be on the list."

"Haven't you heard that some people are already calling on insiders not to attend this year's Blue Ribbon Film Festival?"

"Ah? How can they call for that? Can they not go even if they are nominated?"

"It is said that some people have already agreed not to go."

"Then they probably didn't have any hope of winning an award anyway."

"We don't know what those people in the entertainment industry are thinking, but I don't believe anyone with a hope of winning would not go."

Lu Qingzhen listened to everyone's discussion, and after it ended, she sent some messages to Chen Ziyan.

Landing.

Hundreds of unread messages appeared on the phone.

Chen Ziyan checked the messages immediately.

The plane was still taxiing.

Chen Ziyan turned to Lu Yan He and said: "Sure enough, things have blown up."

Lu Yan He was also looking at the messages on his phone.

During the long flight, too many things had happened in the world.

The Blue Ribbon Awards had become the most explosive thing in the entertainment industry.

Fortunately, this time the matter had nothing to do with Lu Yan He; he just needed to eat melon peacefully. However, with such a big move by the Blue Ribbon, affecting the entire entertainment industry, it couldn't be said to have nothing to do with him.

After a while, Chen Ziyan said: "If this matter continues to ferment, it is very likely that some people will be dug out."

"Hmm?" Lu Yan He didn't understand.

Chen Ziyan said: "You have to know, the three major domestic awards cannot be truly completely clean."

Relationships, favors, interest exchanges... actually, everyone knows that no award selection can completely eliminate these phenomena, but as long as it is not exposed and there is no solid evidence, every year when the results come out, some people shout about shady dealings, but in the end, only one or two truly become scandals. In most cases, the public still recognizes their value in the end.

And once it is dug out that someone's award was really obtained through these means, it will truly become a major international scandal.

"After Wen Yang's press conference, Jiang Mingzheng started being scolded, and some people started attacking Jiang Mingzheng, saying that his Best Actor award at the Honghe Awards was obtained through shady means," Chen Ziyan said. "Jiang Mingzheng is now being scolded on the hot search."

"Everyone agrees with the way the Blue Ribbon determined the nomination list this year, right?"

"Yes, compared to a dozen professional judges, especially those who violated fairness and were publicly named, everyone naturally trusts the list selected by five hundred people more," Chen Ziyan said. "At this time, if there was a nomination list determined at the beginning, and the two were compared, the drama that was taken off the list would be embarrassed."

"Even if they were taken off, it doesn't mean they were really engaging in these back-door deals, right? It's also possible they were just purely not liked by these five hundred public judges?"

"Yes, so I hope this matter can be resolved properly. My mood is strange and contradictory. On one hand, I hope to use this matter to clean out some pests in the industry, and on the other hand, I worry that the matter will be too big and eventually affect the operation of the entire industry," Chen Ziyan said. "After all, in the past environment, no production company, platform, or crew could say they didn't engage in public relations at all; it just depends on the extent."

Lu Yan He understood what Chen Ziyan meant.

To put it bluntly, in the past environment, no one was clean.

Because the clean ones couldn't survive.

Lu Yan He suddenly thought of something and asked: "Sister Ziyan, there's no problem with my nominations and awards, right?"

"No, don't worry," Chen Ziyan said. "At your age, even if you haven't won an award, I don't intend to operate for you."

"Don't, please never operate for me in the future either," Lu Yan He said. "Really, as you said, once you operate, it becomes a stain on your life."

Chen Ziyan: "When I truly feel that one day it is necessary to operate, it must be when leaving a stain on your life is better than the situation where you are about to be eliminated by the entertainment industry."

Lu Yan He laughed.

"Fortunately, I have already won one award, so I don't have to worry."

"People are really like this. Once you have won a major award, your mindset is completely different from someone who hasn't," Chen Ziyan said. "Looking at you now, I really don't know what heights you will reach in the future." ===== CHAPTER 547 =====
