Chapter 73
"It's not that anyone dares to hit you; hitting people is uncivilized. The fact that everyone keeps their hands to themselves shows that there are still many civilized people, but haven't you realized that your way of speaking is always barbed and makes people uncomfortable?"
Lu Yan He spoke his mind bluntly.
A crack appeared on Lin Miaomiao's arrogant face.
She clenched her fists and gave Lu Yan He a deep look.
"You are the first person to say that to me."
"You're not a host, are you?" Lu Yan He asked.
His gaze seemed to see through all the truth, making Lin Miaomiao feel that no matter how she argued, it would be meaningless.
She deflated in frustration.
"No."
"I guessed as much. If you were a host, you would have been unemployed long ago," Lu Yan He quipped. "Then what do you do?"
"I... my relative works here, I'm just looking around." Lin Miaomiao glared at Lu Yan He. "Wait, tell me first, where exactly is my way of speaking uncomfortable?"
"Everywhere."
"Hey!"
"See?" Lu Yan He immediately spread his hands, wearing an expression that said, "See, am I deliberately looking for trouble?"
He felt that this expression of his was probably quite punchable too.
Sure enough, Lin Miaomiao looked furious.
"I'm leaving." She stood up and walked toward the door.
"Hey!" Lu Yan He called out to stop her.
Lin Miaomiao stopped and glared at him with rage.
"I know you don't have any malicious intent, and your barbed tone might not be sincere either," Lu Yan He said. "But others will have that feeling. If you care about what others think, find a way to change it. If you don't care, then pretend I didn't say anything."
Lin Miaomiao was silent for two seconds, snorted, and left.
About a minute later, Wang Lu suddenly arrived.
"Yan He, we're ready to start recording, let's head over."
"Okay."
Lu Yan He stood up, followed Wang Lu out of the dressing room, crossed the corridor, and walked into a large hall.
The hall had been set up; seven or eight machines were arranged in a semicircle, facing a sofa area in the middle.
Clearly, that was where the artists were supposed to go.
There wasn't a single person there yet.
Ever since walking into this hall, Lu Yan He had noticed a camera pointed at him.
After all, he didn't have much experience like this, lacking the "camera-blindness" of artists who were used to being filmed.
Lu Yan He asked Wang Lu, "Should I just go over there and sit down?"
Wang Lu hadn't answered yet.
Suddenly, someone behind him pushed him aside.
"Move aside, you're blocking the way, how are we supposed to get in?" a fatty complained impatiently.
When he saw Lu Yan He turn around, he was stunned.
"Oh, it's Lu Yan He. I thought you were some staff member." Seeing Lu Yan He, the fatty switched to a smiling face.
Behind him was a young man with pink-dyed hair, wearing a gold necklace, his pants sagging, hands in his pockets, looking disdainful.
This was the currently very popular singer, Lu Yi Wang.
Lu Yan He smiled slightly at them and noncommittally stepped aside.
"Lu Yi, get to know Lu Yan He." The fatty said to Lu Yan He, "I'm Chen Ji, Lu Yi Wang's agent. Hello, hello."
As he spoke, he reached out his hand to shake Lu Yan He's.
Lu Yan He didn't really want to shake hands with this two-faced fatty.
"Why are you bothering with him? An idol who's been washed up for who knows how long." Lu Yi Wang looked at his agent impatiently, not even sparing a glance for Lu Yan He.
Lu Yan He: "..."
Wang Lu, standing to the side, blushed, feeling somewhat angry.
How could this person be so arrogant?! His way of speaking was so annoying!
Chen Ji gave Lu Yan He an apologetic smile and said, "Sorry, he's in a bad mood, he didn't mean it."
"No wonder people say internet celebrities have low character; it seems the reputation is well-deserved."
Chen Ziliang's voice suddenly rang out.
He had arrived too.
He was followed by seven or eight people: assistants, a personal makeup artist, a cameraman, and so on.
Lu Yi Wang looked furious, glaring at him, "The fuck did you say?!"
"Did I say you? You're overreacting." Chen Ziliang didn't take Lu Yi Wang seriously at all, walked straight over, sat on the sofa, and crossed his arms over his chest. "Director, how many more people haven't arrived? Hurry up and call them over so we can start recording. Otherwise, how long is this going to take?"
Hou Jun took a deep breath, his expression unchanged, and turned to his assistant, "Go and urge them."
Lu Yan He, wary of getting caught in the crossfire, said nothing and went straight to sit at the far end of the sofa.
With the three of them seated, a three-legged standoff emerged.
On the semicircular sofa, Chen Ziliang sat in the middle, Lu Yan He on the far left, and Lu Yi Wang on the far right.
The air pressure was very low.
After a while, Liu Zhilan appeared gracefully.
"Hi there!" She greeted them enthusiastically as soon as she entered.
Chen Ziliang was the first to stand up, flashing a bright smile at Liu Zhilan.
"Long time no see, Sister Lan."
"Oh my, you're getting more and more handsome," Liu Zhilan said.
Lu Yi Wang was the second to go and greet Liu Zhilan.
"Hello Sister Lan, I'm Lu Yi Wang, I really like your songs." Lu Yi Wang was relatively polite in front of Liu Zhilan, lacking the hostility he had shown toward Lu Yan He and Chen Ziliang earlier.
Lu Yan He stepped up last and took the initiative to introduce himself: "Hello, I'm Lu Yan He."
Liu Zhilan immediately smiled and said, "Wow, I'm so lucky for today's recording, having three big handsome guys recording together."
Once she arrived, the atmosphere on set finally eased up, no longer so tense.
Liu Zhilan sat down next to Chen Ziliang and immediately took the initiative to start a conversation.
"Ziliang, are you holding a concert in the second half of the year?"
"I'm preparing for it. How did you know, Sister Lan?"
"I heard the news," Liu Zhilan said. "I wanted to invite you to be a guest at my concert, but then someone told me you probably wouldn't have time because you'd have your own tour then."
Chen Ziliang: "When is Sister Lan's concert? If I have time, I'll definitely go."
"That's great, I'll send you the time later," Liu Zhilan smiled gently. "Lu Yi Wang and Yan He, this is my first time meeting both of you, but I've seen your videos online before. It's really great to have the chance to get to know you this time."
Lu Yan He felt a slight sense of relief in his heart.
This recording atmosphere was what he had imagined.
The initial tension had left him somewhat disillusioned—were artists in the entertainment industry all ticking time bombs? Fortunately, regardless of everything else, during the official recording process, everything was normal.
He would just focus on his singing part, and after the show was recorded, he could go back.
Lu Yan He didn't even realize that his earlier thought about how this show might help him become famous had already been largely dismissed.
These people didn't seem very reliable.
