Chapter 972: Utilitarian Heart Cannot Be Without

Chen Siqi: "Then can you accept it?"

"The subconscious reaction is resistance, because I don't want to gain any benefits from this matter, but rationally, I know Sister Ziyan is right. So, even if it's hard to accept, I will force myself to accept it. This matter is already rotten enough. The rotten things that happened to me, I play them as a card at the right time, that is my ability."

Lu Yan He seemed to be explaining his thoughts to Chen Siqi, but in fact, he was also convincing himself.

"I'm not willing to accept that Chen Pinhe is really my father, but can I decide that? I can't be remade, I can only feel like I've eaten a fly. The only thing I can do is to pull it out quickly."

Chen Siqi: "……You disgusted me."

"Hmm." Lu Yan He smiled.

"Sister Ziyan has always been protecting you."

"Yes." Lu Yan He nodded. "To tell the truth, whether it's the United States or here in the country, it all depends on Sister Ziyan holding the fort, which gives me the opportunity to truly retaliate now."

"You want to retaliate against Zhang Yuezhen, what about Chen Pinhe?"

"Never see each other again."

Chen Siqi: "Just like now?"

"Just like now."

When the avalanche happened, Chen Pinhe's inner heart was actually very calm.

Like the eye of a storm.

Ever since Ma Zhongquan stopped answering his calls, Chen Pinhe knew that the worst thing was about to happen.

Star Entertainment's statement hung his name clearly on it.

No reason, no cause.

Only the identity of a "behind-the-scenes mastermind."

Once, Lu Yan He and Chen Pinhe's names were put together as representatives of Chinese filmmakers.

Later, Lu Yan He and Chen Pinhe's names were put together because they were at odds, formed a grudge because of "Doomsday," and became hostile.

Now, the truth is revealed. As early as ten years ago, Chen Pinhe had already started looking for people to suppress Lu Yan He. At that time, Lu Yan He was still unknown.

Chen Pinhe's executive agent, public relations manager, brand agent... everyone tried to contact him.

They needed to confirm the authenticity of the news before they could proceed with the next step.

In one day, from Ma Zhiyuan to Zhou Ping'an, from Zhou Ping'an to Ma Zhongquan, now, the drum-passing flower finally passed to Chen Pinhe's hands.

Why?

Everyone was asking why.

Ma Zhiyuan is Lu Yan He's competitor, Zhou Ping'an and Ma Zhongquan are the upper management of Lu Yan He's company at Star Entertainment. In any case, they have a practical relationship with Lu Yan He. What's going on with Chen Pinhe?

Why would he inexplicably go to suppress a small artist?

Even, one could say, a small artist who might not even have been known by Chen Pinhe at the time?

Everyone was asking why.

Chen Pinhe had no mind to answer why now.

Compared to the avalanche in front of him, what Chen Pinhe was more worried about was the fact that Zhang Yuezhen once wanted to kill Lu Yan He.

Chen Pinhe was roasted on the fire for two days, and he didn't stand up to make any response.

Lu Yan He didn't either.

"Friends" started filming in such a clamor and boiling.

No postponement, no leave.

Not affected by anything.

The crew of "Friends" was surrounded like an iron bucket.

Outside the studio, iron fences were put up directly to prevent media and others from approaching.

The management of the crew was even more strict than ever before.

But no one complained.

Everyone understood what had happened.

On the set of "Friends," Lu Yan He performed as relaxed and humorous as ever, laughing and talking with everyone.

However, an atmosphere of wanting to say something but stopping naturally permeated the air.

In the eyes of many people looking at Lu Yan He, there was confusion and curiosity.

Bai Jingnian, Zhan Yun, and others, however, none of them took the initiative to bring up this matter, let alone ask Lu Yan He about it, chatting about the script and other gossip tacitly.

By the end of November, several pieces of news came one after another.

He Yuan actually didn't take action against Feng Xiu and He Chunlai, but imprisoned them in a basement, arranged for people to watch them, and went to the UK himself.

The reason Chen Ziyan knew so much detail was because among the people He Yuan found locally, there was an undercover agent arranged by Chen Ziyan, who reported the latest news every day.

After Zhou Ping'an sued Ma Zhiyuan, he went abroad with his mother. Except for being detained for five days and paying a fine, Ma Zhiyuan didn't actually receive any very serious punishment.

However, as Chen Qin said, his illegal behavior cut off his own path as an artist. He even tried to livestream again, but it was locked by the platform in less than two minutes.

Of course, he was still jumping around, such as opening small accounts, or borrowing the mouths of friends, constantly going crazy, creating new topics for this entertainment industry. Even later, because of some reason, he was caught again.

It's just that those had nothing to do with Lu Yan He.

Lu Yan He couldn't be bothered to pay attention.

He just paid attention to the movements of Zhang Yuezhen and He Yuan at all times.

In the North American awards season, several heavy nominations were announced.

"The Boat" sat firmly on the list of nominations for Best Foreign Language Film, without any unexpected upsets.

Lu Yan He also got a nomination for Best Supporting Actor, which was an unexpected joy.

When Luo Yuzhong, Wen Shengming, and Yu Mengling were promoting in North America, they were frequently asked about the things that happened to Lu Yan He recently. They uniformly refused to answer, saying that these needed to be asked to Lu Yan He personally, and they would not answer on his behalf.

In December, the latest season of "Friends" started airing.

The peak viewership of the first episode directly broke 4%, and by the last episode, the viewership steadily passed 2.6%.

The best start in history.

Screen Actors Guild Awards, Critics Choice Awards, British Academy Film Awards...

One nomination list after another was announced.

After finishing the filming of "Friends," Lu Yan He flew to the United States and returned to the public relations team of "The Boat."

The media surrounded them like sharks smelling blood.

Lu Yan He always said in a way that deflected the question: "I don't know how to respond. I shouldn't have to bear the responsibility of explaining the situation to everyone just because someone disappeared. I don't have this responsibility, and I don't want to face this kind of embarrassing pain."

His wording was interpreted in various ways.

At the end of December, suddenly, someone who was unwilling to reveal their identity broke the news through "Variety": Lu Yan He's mother once served as Chen Pinhe's assistant.

The connection between Lu Yan He and Chen Pinhe finally emerged.

At this time, someone finally thought of Lu Yan He's relatives.

They wanted to find Lu Yan He's relatives to find out the truth, but they couldn't find anyone.

Parents died, elders died, uncle died last year, leaving only an aunt and a cousin, who disappeared without a trace, not knowing where they went.

For a time, Lu Yan He's body was suddenly full of shadows and clouds.

Lu Yan He's past was once again dug up by the ubiquitous media.

This time, in addition to Lu Yan He's past, there was also the past of Lu Yan He's parents. Especially his mother's.

However, too much time had passed.

Except for some old people in this circle, almost no paper materials were left.

It wasn't until the Golden Globe Awards ceremony ended, and "The Boat" successfully won the award for Best Foreign Language Film, that no effective information was exposed.

Chen Pinhe had also disappeared for almost forty days.

No one found where he was, and no one contacted him.

Entering the new year.

The Xitu'er International Film Festival announced the first batch of films shortlisted for the main competition unit.

"The Original Father," starring Lu Yan He and directed by Huang Tianlin, was on the list.

"Prison Break" started filming in Thailand.

"Gold Rush: Ancient Legend" started the promotion for the Spring Festival file, and Li Zhibai and Yan Liang joined forces to run around.

Lu Yan He also appeared at the Yuming premiere ceremony of this movie.

At the end of January, the Oscar nomination list was announced.

"The Boat" successfully entered the nomination list for Best Foreign Language Film as wished, without any accidents like "Storm Calmer No. 1."

Wen Shengming also successfully got the nomination for Best Actor—although there was no hope of winning the award, winning two consecutive years of Oscar nominations was in itself a very remarkable achievement. Wen Shengming's popularity overseas was basically built up by the awards season of these two years.

In addition to Wen Shengming, Qin Shulan also received her second Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress for "Grandma's Legacy."

This year's Best Actress was a big year for competition, and finally "Grandma's Legacy" changed its strategy to impact the award, letting Qin Shulan change to report for Best Supporting Actress.

Now, she could be said to be the one with the highest voice for Best Supporting Actress this year.

And Lu Yan He didn't have a miracle—entering the nomination list.

However, unexpectedly, "The Notebook" actually received a nomination for Best Original Screenplay.

This was a work that had no performance throughout the awards season, and it landed on the Oscar nomination list.

Of course, no one felt it wasn't worthy.

It brought a pure romance movie back to the ranks of box office blockbusters. Just this achievement was enough for it to get any nomination.

The Oscars were never just about art.

"Pirates of the Caribbean" and "The Martian" could also allow the male lead to get an Oscar nomination for Best Actor, and "Batman" could even allow Heath Ledger to win.

This was something that international four major film festivals wouldn't even think about.

"This year's Oscars, they want to invite you to be the presenter for the Best Director award."

Chen Ziyan said to Lu Yan He.

"Me?"

"Yes." Chen Ziyan nodded. "The weight of the presenter for this award is quite heavy."

"I know, so I'm very shocked." Lu Yan He said. "After all, I'm only twenty-nine."

"Almost thirty, thirty stands." Chen Ziyan smiled.

"Do Americans also have the saying of thirty stands?"

"I don't know about that." Chen Ziyan said. "This is a good thing."

Lu Yan He said: "Hmm, what's there to hesitate about? Just take it."

"Good."

After Chen Ziyan finished the business, she smiled and said: "I also didn't expect Chen Pinhe to really disappear like this."

"Don't you know where he went?"

"The last time his whereabouts were found was in the UK." Chen Ziyan said. "But that was also a month ago."

"Then I guess he is with Zhang Yuezhen." Lu Yan He said. "Are Feng Xiu and He Chunlai still locked in that basement?"

"Yes." Chen Ziyan said. "They are provided with good food and drink. Except for not being able to go out and not being free, there is nothing else."

"They disappeared just like that, and no one even asked."

"In a foreign land, who cares about them?" Chen Ziyan said. "Only in the country, there are some conspiracy theorists who actually feel that you secretly killed them."

"Sick."

Chen Ziyan smiled.

"You should have seen it. Now there are some people saying that Chen Pinhe was also secretly killed by you."

"Do they think I can escape legal sanctions?"

"Conspiracy theories, anything can be thought of." Chen Ziyan shrugged. "Compared to this, what makes me care more is Hezhou. He has been missing for so long, but he hasn't gone abroad. There is no record of him going abroad. Where is he? We still can't find him."

"Didn't his school call the police?"

"He Yuan called the school and said his child had an accident and was in the hospital, needing to apply for repeating a grade and go back to study next year."

"Ah?" Lu Yan He showed a look of confusion. "Okay, then it seems it really was He Yuan who hid Hezhou in advance to protect his son. Our plan failed. We can't use Hezhou to make He Yuan stand up and accuse Zhang Yuezhen."

Chen Ziyan: "It doesn't matter. This matter of He Chunlai and Feng Xiu is enough to nail He Yuan. When He Yuan returns to the country, call the police immediately."

"Does Officer Qiu Ling know about this?" Lu Yan He knew that although Chen Ziyan had her own connections with the police, she was also in contact with Qiu Ling.

"I didn't tell her. If I told her such a thing, as a police officer, she couldn't cooperate with us to wait for the rabbit. She would definitely report to the relevant departments to rescue He Chunlai and Feng Xiu. I am not that righteous, but don't drag others into the water."

Lu Yan He nodded.

"That's good. I'm also afraid of affecting her."

"I am always unwilling not to send Zhang Yuezhen to prison." Chen Ziyan took a deep breath. "So, the more it is at this time, the less we can be anxious. If you are anxious, you can't eat hot tofu. You must be patient and wait for the rabbit."

"Good." Lu Yan He nodded. "We wait for the rabbit."

In early February, Spring Festival.

Lu Yan He did not appear in this year's Spring Festival Gala.

The director team did not invite him either.

Lu Yan He's situation this year is indeed not suitable for appearing in the Spring Festival Gala.

On the contrary, Li Zhibai and Yan Liang appeared.

They appeared as representatives of Spring Festival movies.

But they didn't perform any programs, just sat under the stage and cooperated with other movie parties to complete the opening show.

Some media asked them why they didn't perform programs at the Spring Festival Gala.

Li Zhibai said: "Wait until everyone is here, then we will perform for everyone. Everyone, wait a moment."

This naturally refers to Lu Yan He.

At that time, Lu Yan He and Chen Siqi were at her grandmother's house.

Making dumplings together.

He posted a "family photo" of them on social media for the first time.

——The snow is very heavy this year, but with family by my side, when the snow melts, spring will come. ===== CHAPTER 973 =====
