Chapter 996: A Postscript That Is Indeed a Postscript on Finishing the Story
A Postscript That Is Indeed a Postscript on Finishing the Story
1.
It ended earlier than I imagined, yet later than I imagined.
Why my feelings are so contradictory, I cannot clearly explain.
In short, finishing it at this moment was truly something I had not expected.
During this period, I was reassigned to carry out a special inspection task.
Basically, I had no rest.
Coincidentally, by this weekend, the work had reached a pause.
Starting from Friday night, I sensed that the story had reached its concluding part.
This weekend, I was basically writing the entire time.
Especially on Sunday night, from seven o'clock in the evening, I wrote straight through until dawn.
Finally, I brought it to the place where it should end, according to my initial idea.
I had originally divided it into four chapters, planning to release them over four days.
But the moment I finished writing, I abandoned that idea.
I released it all in one go.
Since it was written in one continuous breath, it ought to be read in one continuous breath.
2.
There will be a few extra chapters later, but those will truly be extras; there will be no more daily updates, and I do not know when they will be released.
It entirely depends on my mood.
The main storyline, the main text content, has now truly come to an end.
In this long marathon of writing alone, I nearly thought I would finish with a terrible ending, starting strong but fading weakly.
But thanks to this sudden surge of feeling over the past few days, it carried me sprinting forward, allowing me to finish this ending with full passion.
So, yes, just as the title says, this is a genuine postscript on finishing the story.
3.
I like this story, and this group of people, very much.
I know that you do too.
Because of this book, I achieved my first novel in life to break ten thousand in average subscriptions.
And because of this book, I, who was already quite natural, have become even more natural.
I said before that writing novels is not primarily for the purpose of making money for me.
More importantly, it is about liking it.
But being able to like something while also earning (a lot of) money can hardly be called a bad thing.
The only bad thing is probably that after I finished writing, my surging passion could not be shared with anyone.
I could only walk out of my apartment at dawn, pace furiously for three large laps within the enclosed courtyard.
I even happily jumped a couple of times.
I hope the duty officer watching the monitors does not think I am a lunatic.
4.
I mentioned it before, but never in detail.
This novel was once published under another pen name; back then, I wrote up to 100,000 words, applied for a contract, and was rejected.
After thinking it over, I republished it under the pen name Song Liuchun.
Thanks to the small number of Readers accumulated from "I Became the Scandalous Female Lead Overnight," its data improved slightly, and then a lucky editor picked it up for contracting; even so, the initial subscription was only a little over three hundred.
Going from three hundred to ten thousand subscriptions is something I would never have dared to imagine, yet it happened.
I am an author who does not much like being "guided" (this does not mean I am unwilling to listen to opinions); what I mean is, I do not like being required by someone using a certain standard to write in a specific way.
Fortunately, the lucky editor is not that kind of editor either.
From the failure of the first round of trial promotion, to revival, to the second round of trial promotion having mediocre results, he never once told me how I should write.
He would tell me the current state of the data; I would ask him what he suggested I do in that situation; he would tell me his suggestion; and I would tell him what I wanted to do.
"Pick a Day to Become Famous" was like this during its new book period, and other communications were the same.
In fact, I rarely chatted with him about anything else.
Most of the time, he would poke me once a month to tell me when I would be featured on the recommendation list; I would reply with one sentence: "Received, thank you."
That was all.
Some time ago, I sent him the opening of my new book.
He said it was acceptable and writable, but also pointed out issues from a market perspective and the points to pay attention to next; it was very concise, just four or five sentences, including a screenshot of an example.
Those were common faults of mine.
I knew it myself, but unless someone pointed it out, I always wondered, "Is it perhaps still okay?"
I made some changes.
I gained confidence.
Looking back now, "Pick a Day to Become Famous" being picked up by him was truly good fortune.
4.
The new book was originally planned for release in summer.
As a result, the completion of this book was several months later than I estimated.
If you look at the completion time I announced earlier, you will know the situation.
Fortunately, although the completion time arrived later than expected, it was not too late.
It is just that the new book has been delayed until now.
As for the new book, its title is Salted Fish Reborn.
This time, it is not transmigration, but rebirth.
I do not yet know in what direction the story will develop.
However, it is still a story beginning with a Gao Zhongsheng.
Will you like it?
What kind of results will it achieve?
I do not know.
But it does not matter; I will find out once I start writing.
I hope you will return by then.
P. S. Once my cold clears up and the special project ends, I will find a time to livestream singing for you all at a KTV, how about that? Hahaha. (End of Chapter)
