Chapter 1032: Ten Thousand Streams of Sword-Light Strike Down
Boom boom boom!
The blue-flame giant strode through the heavens; each step was like a heavy strike upon a great drum called Heaven and Earth, and within a hundred li the void caved in, rippling and churning like water.
"Die!"
The Cang Kong Di Zi, cradling the massive pillar of flame, struck down once more. His aura was heavy as a mountain, swallowing everything in the four directions like a black hole — nothing could escape.
Boom!
The Blood-Robe Daoist and his flying sword shattered once again into fine powder; even the faintest spark of life in the tiniest fragments of flesh was snuffed out.
This scene brought the blue-flame giant — into which the Cang Kong Di Zi had transformed — no joy whatsoever; instead he grew ever more violent, cradling the massive pillar of flame and tearing through the void, smashing down at one place after another.
In less than ten breaths, the entire sky had been smashed to pieces by him; everywhere was pitted and scarred, countless spatial-fragment currents churned, forming a death-zone for living beings.
"Huff… huff…"
"Huff huff huff huff…"
In the end, the blue-flame giant, still cradling the massive pillar of flame, was panting and had no choice but to stop, the wild killing intent in his eyes dimming somewhat, a look of exhaustion showing through.
Gurgle gurgle~
The Blood River flowed through the shattered void, beginning to revive once more.
The fresh blood drove away the lingering remains of the Cang Yan family's divine fire — the Blue Flame Core-Fire — and spread its Blood River Sword Domain outward in all directions, once again controlling the flow of spiritual energy across thousands of li of heaven and earth.
"Is that all? Already tired?"
"Gentlemen, if this is all you have, then you are about to die."
Jiang Ding's figure appeared within the Blood River, and he said calmly.
The Di Zi's combined form — the blue-flame giant forged from dozens of kings working in unison — was far stronger than him; after all, he did not possess a Dao Zi foundation, and his strength had an upper limit.
The foundations of a thatched hut or a commoner's house, even if later reinforced, cannot bear the weight of a thousand-meter-tall tower.
This is why sects like the Great Sun Sword Pavilion and Dengxian Sect pour such frenzied resources into their Dao Zi; raising a single Dao Zi can bankrupt an entire massive immortal sect, forcing it to live off the savings of days gone by.
Even with such enormous expenditure, no immortal sect has ever thought it wasteful, or believed the Dao Zi's expenses should be trimmed.
This is the importance of foundation.
Dong Xue He Wang has his clear, hard limit of strength; it is not the case that swallowing up billions of living beings allows endless advancement — there is no such possibility.
However, although it is true that he cannot win.
But the Cang Kong Di Zi also cannot kill him!
"Huff… huff…"
The blue-flame giant stared coldly at the distant Blood-Robe Daoist, and did not continue the pursuit.
In that single short breath, he gulped down massive amounts of the world's spiritual energy pouring in from all four directions; like the ancient Kuafu Giant who chased the sun, he possessed inexhaustible stamina.
In an instant, the vast qi and blood he had expended began to recover rapidly — it was simply
a violation of the law of conservation of energy.
This blue-flame giant's qi and blood were like a mountain, his heat like the great furnace of the Dao itself.
He merely stood there, and the masculine force of his qi and blood drove away every spell and evil specter, suppressed the surging Blood River Sword Domain rushing toward him, turning it into wisps of blue flame that scattered, and he himself was not drowned in the blood-water.
"You really are a beast!"
Seeing this, Jiang Ding was also filled with admiration, and drew his long sword.
Clang!
A streak of blood-ice sword-light was born within the surging Blood River.
In an instant it blotted out the sky, and in the next instant condensed to a single point, freezing all things between heaven and earth; without any concealment, that star-like cold and deathly still sword-light sliced straight toward the blue-flame giant's brow — the place where the Cang Kong Di Zi's true body resided.
If he died here, the remaining kings would likewise find it hard to escape death.
"Kill!"
The Cang Kong Di Zi, cradling the massive pillar of flame, struck head-on; amid crisp cracking sounds, blood-ice splashed and froze the four directions.
He felt no joy; instead his heart trembled, and his body staggered forward a step as the massive pillar of flame smashed apart great swathes of space and the Blood River Domain, its might awe-inspiring.
The massive pillar of flame struck only empty air — what it had shattered was nothing but an afterimage!
Clang!
The next instant, the blue-flame giant's left shoulder ached with pain.
A streak of blood-ice sword-light, carrying power compressed to the extreme, sliced from his chest to his left shoulder; the sword-edge tore through the blue flame, tore through the indestructible space of ten thousand zhang, and then tore through a treasure-body comparable to fifth-tier divine metal, severing a great chunk of flesh and blood carrying the Blue Flame into withered ash, the wound deep enough to reveal bone.
"Roar!"
The blue-flame giant let out a pained low growl.
His aura flared throughout his whole body; flesh and flame flowed like water, and the wound on his left shoulder rapidly healed — but on closer inspection, within that wound there still existed a thin, curved line of blood, threading through the wound like a suture.
This was unmistakably wisp after wisp of Blood River sword-intent, clinging to the blue-flame giant's flesh and blood like a bone-deep ulcer.
This was not any great threat.
If he had ten breaths of respite to sit cross-legged and meditate, the qi and blood within his body would flow and expel these wisps of Blood River sword-intent.
However, there was no such opportunity now!
"You must keep attacking, Cang Kong."
"Don't you dare stop."
Jiang Ding smiled and struck another sword; the sword-light outshone the Milky Way, and heaven and earth grew bright with fresh blood.
Clang!
This sword was born of the interplay of real and illusion.
The Cang Kong Di Zi clearly saw that this sword was illusory, and that the true sword lurked somewhere unknown, ready to strike out suddenly; therefore he stationed most of his power within his body to respond to whatever might come.
Boom!
Yet when the sword and the massive pillar of flame truly clashed, thunder exploded
The explosion roared and thundered.
"Not good!"
The Blue Flame Giant's expression went wild with shock, channeling all of his reactive strength into both arms.
But it was already too late.
A massive force came crashing in, and in the span of a single breath, it sent the Blue Flame Giant—who had not yet fully unleashed his power—flying with a vicious slash, tumbling through the sky like a ball, utterly wretched.
Cang Kong's Imperial Son only felt a searing, burning pain in his arms.
He lowered his head to look—his two mountain-like arms were now a mangled mess of flesh and blood, fresh blood dripping down, covered all over with countless densely packed sword scars. Though they were recovering at tremendous speed, countless fine blood-line scars had appeared between the flesh and blood, impossible to dispel.
Within these blood-line scars was contained an extremely high concentration of Blood River sword intent.
This Blood River sword intent carried the will of madness, slaughter, and bloodlust, frantically destroying the surrounding flesh, blood, and vitality.
Cang Kong's Imperial Son had no choice but to mobilize the Blue Blaze Earth Core Fire between his meridians and the power of his qi and blood to block and seal it, preventing these extremely dangerous strands of Blood River sword intent from causing greater destruction.
It wasn't that he didn't want to dispel them completely—it was that—
Clang!
The long, drawn-out sound of a sword cry once again rang out across heaven and earth.
That surging wave of the Blood River in the horizon came crashing once again, condensing into a single thin line, and cleaved down in a sudden killing strike.
"Roar!"
Cang Kong's Imperial Son dared not hold back any longer. With a wild roar, he charged forward to kill, taking the initiative to rush at the Blood Robe Daoist.
This time, the giant pillar of flame slammed into the Blood Robe Daoist's skull, blasting his entire body into a pulp of flesh and blood, while at the same time a streak of blood-colored sword light slashed across the flame giant's waist, carving out a tiny wound in a flash before vanishing.
Clang!
Several dozen kilometers away, the Blood Robe Daoist revived once again, drew his sword, and struck down yet another blow.
Boom!
Boom, boom!
This stretch of heaven and earth was utterly shattered, thrown into a boiling frenzy!
The earth caved in into an abyss, rivers were severed, volcanoes erupted without cease—countless living beings perished.
The Blue Flame Giant and the Blood Robe Daoist fought with insane frenzy, battling to the point of madness.
The situation looked one-sided—the Blue Flame Giant was beating the Blood Robe Daoit down, his giant pillars of flame bearing the might to destroy heaven and extinguish earth. A graze meant death, a touch meant annihilation; flesh and blood were burned to ash, and again and again the Blood Robe Daoist was smashed into dust.
Yet the Blood Robe Daoist could always revive, time and time again.
Every time his own Dharma body turned to ash, he would leave behind a tiny wound on the Blue Flame Giant.
These wounds kept accumulating, kept accumulating. After an unknown span of frantic battle, they gradually began to spread across the Blue Flame Giant's entire body—twisting streaks of blood like totems, looking incomparably terrifying.
