Chapter 65: Was Your Physics Class Taught by a Biology Teacher?

~6 min read 1,185 words

Seeing the jade flute in the red-robed woman's hand, Zhu Qingyan's pale face flushed red—with rage.

"Yuan Wenrui!" Zhu Qingyan spat through clenched teeth.

"Indeed, he is your former fiancé from back then," the red-robed woman nodded with a smile.

"He's not my fiancé!" Zhu Qingyan snarled. "Yuan County Magistrate never approved of him—it was my father who took pity on him and took him in!"

"Yet he repaid kindness with betrayal, falsely accusing my father of embezzling treasury silver, pinning that black crime on him, driving my father to his death in injustice—I'd gladly eat his flesh and drink his blood!"

The red-robed woman waved a hand. "Those are past matters. Now, Lord Yuan is Magistrate of Changping Prefecture, overseeing all affairs of the prefecture—even the King grants him a measure of respect."

"If you were to marry him and fulfill the betrothal from thirty years ago, it would be a fine match. Then perhaps even I'd have to curry favor with you."

"He can dream!" Zhu Qingyan's eyes burned red. "He knows I've become a vengeful ghost with a hundred years of cultivation—how dare he come after me?"

The red-robed woman smiled sweetly, reminding her, "Sister, don't forget about our King."

Zhu Qingyan fell silent, suddenly sobered, and stared at the red-robed woman. "You're one of the Two Consorts of the Golden Wind Old Devil?"

"You may call me Consort Yu," the red-robed woman chuckled.

Zhu Qingyan stared coldly at the woman. Though she rarely left her courtyard, the Golden Wind Divine Sect had preached in Xiuyue County for nearly twenty years—she knew the names of the Golden Wind Divine King and his two Consorts, Yun and Yu.

"If I refuse to go, what can you do?" Zhu Qingyan said coldly.

"Why make your sister suffer?" Consort Yu laughed softly, covering her mouth, her voice delicate—but her gaze toward Zhu Qingyan was icy and merciless. "The King ordered: if you refuse, I'm to bind you, force-feed you a lust potion, and deliver you to Lord Yuan's bed."

Zhu Qingyan raised her hand. Instantly, endless cold qi surged through the courtyard, condensing into droplets of water that blanketed the grounds.

"No wonder you became a ghost by drowning—you've mastered water control," Consort Yu lifted a hand, and the water droplets surrounding her vanished entirely.

"I forgot to remind you, sister—I have this ability too," Consort Yu winked at Zhu Qingyan. "You don't think the Yun and Yu Consorts only know how to perform cloud-and-rain rites, do you?"

"Of course, I'm quite skilled in cloud-and-rain rites too—I'll teach you sometime," Consort Yu stepped closer to Zhu Qingyan. "Sister, come with me!"

Zhu Qingyan's face flushed, but she gritted her teeth. "You can dream!"

As she spoke, Zhu Qingyan waved her hand. Countless water droplets surged toward Consort Yu, each radiating chilling cold, as if ready to freeze flesh solid.

But Consort Yu leapt forward, instantly crossing several zhang, piercing the water curtain, appearing before Zhu Qingyan, and reaching out to grab her.

Zhu Qingyan leapt backward, evading the claw—but Consort Yu's fingertips suddenly extended three inches of qi-blades, piercing through her protective ghost qi and slicing three gashes into her robe.

Zhu Qingyan kicked upward from beneath her skirt, momentarily halting Consort Yu, then spun and retreated, fingers flicking rapidly—each water droplet shot out like a bullet, piercing the water curtain straight at Consort Yu.

This time, the water bullets infused with magic power had real destructive force. Consort Yu didn't block them directly; she swept her hand aside, leapt back, dodging the barrage, then stomped the ground and charged again toward Zhu Qingyan.

The two clashed, closing and separating in rapid succession.

Zhu Qingyan tried desperately to keep distance; Consort Yu relentlessly pressed in.

Consort Yu's magic power was already superior to Zhu Qingyan's, and Zhu Qingyan seemed injured—her strength faltered often—so Consort Yu drove her back step by step, leaving her just a few paces from the main hall.

But Zhu Qingyan clearly didn't want to damage the hall's furnishings; she leapt upward, aiming for the roof.

Consort Yu's lips curled into a smile; she subtly formed a hand seal.

The next instant, Zhu Qingyan let out a muffled groan, her body stiffened, and she grabbed the eave to avoid falling—then flipped onto the roof, gasping heavily.

"Sister Qingyan, the King's divine seal isn't something you can easily withstand. You know you can't beat me—why waste your strength in this desperate struggle?" Consort Yu looked up at Zhu Qingyan.

Zhu Qingyan's face was cold, expressionless—but her determined eyes clearly declared her resolve.

"Stubborn fool!" Consort Yu snorted, leaping to pursue.

But as she rose, a clear, young male voice echoed from behind the hall: "Thunder follows lightning; heaven and earth are its eyes. The eight directions' righteous qi—lightning flashes!"

A majestic aura surged forth, followed by flashes of purple light and the roar of thunder!

As Consort Yu summoned magic power to shield herself, one of her earrings suddenly detached, flying straight toward the sudden purple lightning.

"Boom!"

The golden-threaded glass pendant instantly melted into a blob; the palm thunder was nullified—but Consort Yu's upward momentum was shattered, forcing her to drop back down.

The next instant, another fierce, violent aura erupted—flames erupted around the front courtyard, mixed with howling winds, surging like walls toward her and the sedan bearers and maids behind her.

The four bearers and two maids gasped in terror, all summoning magic power to strike the wind and fire—but it was like mud sinking into the sea, utterly ineffective.

Consort Yu was stunned and furious. "Who dares attack the Golden Wind Divine Sect?!"

The only answer was another flash of purple lightning, swift and sudden.

Consort Yu swept her hand, forming a water shield that instantly solidified to meet the purple lightning—but the lightning pierced through the shield's core, shattering it instantly, scattering her magic power in fragments.

Consort Yu's pupils contracted; her second earring detached automatically, flying to meet the palm thunder.

"Boom!"

"Using water to block lightning? Was your physics class taught by a biology teacher?" A mocking voice echoed beside her—then a net of fire descended upon her.

Consort Yu shrieked; boundless water vapor surged together, fused with magic power into mist, shielding her entire body.

"Sssss—"

Water and fire mingled; the Fire Shield Method dissolved into wisps of smoke.

Though Consort Yu's protective mist had also been significantly eroded, she ultimately avoided being engulfed by the net. She leapt backward, scanning with her spiritual sense—and finally saw her enemy's true face.

A man in a blue cotton robe, wearing a red mask, now blew wind and fire through pursed lips, completely surrounding her bearers and maids.

A young man in green robes had his index and middle fingers pointed at her—but his face bore a look of embarrassment.

Beside him stood a girl holding a feather fan, with a white fox perched on her shoulder, guarding the youth as she watched Consort Yu with wary caution.

Then Consort Yu heard the young man sigh. "Alright, my physics class was taught by a biology teacher too."
