Chapter 636: The Heavy Smell of Gunpowder
Just then, Li An suddenly noticed a tiny gap in the encirclement. Though the gap was small, it was enough for him. He drew a deep breath, then lunged violently toward that gap.
His speed was blindingly fast, like a bolt of lightning streaking across the night sky. He broke through the encirclement and fled the dangerous place with Guo Yao.
However, their escape did not end the battle. Members of the mysterious organization swarmed after them, attempting to surround the two of them once again.
Li An gripped tightly the blade in his hand, which flickered with a cold gleam, his gaze like a torch as he scanned his surroundings. Guo Yao pressed close to his side, her form-fitting combat suit tracing out graceful curves, a bewitching figure tempered with a toughness not to be underestimated. A steadfast light shone in her eyes—trust in Li An without conditions, and fearlessness toward the coming battle.
"They're coming." Li An's low voice rose in the silence, breaking the quiet between them.
The moment the words fell, a burst of hurried footsteps closed in from every direction, accompanied by the crisp clatter of metal on metal. The members of the mysterious organization, like phantoms in the night, swiftly surrounded the two. They wore uniform black combat suits, fierce masks covering their faces, and an assortment of weapons in their hands that reflected a cold, harsh light. The air was permeated with density of gunpowder.
Guo Yao tightened her grip on the long whip in her hand, a flash of vicious resolve crossing her eyes: "It seems tonight is destined to be a sleepless night."
