Chapter 676: Watch Me!
As they ventured deeper into the forest, the surrounding air seemed to grow even heavier, making even breathing difficult. Just then, a flurry of urgent footsteps shattered the silence, and several swift, mysterious creatures darted out from the thicket, charging straight at them.
"Careful!" Li An shouted, drawing the longsword at his waist and bracing for battle.
The creatures had bizarre forms and blinding attack speed, seeming to teleport to any spot in an instant. Li An and Guo Yao fought with all their might, but it wasn't long before they felt overwhelmed.
"These ten guys are so damn hard to shake!" Guo Yao panted, slashing with the short blade in her hand as she spoke.
Just then, a flash of silver light streaked past, and Silver Moon appeared before them. It widened its eyes, gave Li An a playful look, as if to say, "Watch me!"
Silver Moon weaved nimbly among the creatures, using its familiarity with the forest to quickly find their weak points. It leapt and let out sharp cries, guiding Li An and Guo Yao's attacks.
Li An seized the moment and, with ruthless precision, swung his sword at one creature's neck. Blood sprayed, and the beast dropped at the sound. The others, seeing this, showed looks of terror, and their assault faltered.
"Nice one!" Guo Yao cheered excitedly, looking at Li An with a gleam of admiration in her eyes.
Li An gave a faint smile, but did not let his guard down. He knew the real battle had only just begun.
The surrounding trees trembled, as if shaken by the fight. The leaves rustled, as if whispering the forest's ancient legends.
Just as they thought they could press on, a massive barrier suddenly appeared before them. It radiated a dazzling light, as if it could cut off everything.
"What is this?" Guo Yao asked in astonishment; she had never seen such a powerful barrier.
Li An stared at the barrier, his brows tightly knit. He tried to use his strength to break through it, but the moment he made contact, he was sent flying back by a powerful rebound.
"Damn it!" Li An roared in fury, feeling his dignity challenged.
Guo Yao rushed forward to help Li An up, her eyes full of worry. "Are you alright?" she asked with concern.
Li An shook his head, his gaze falling once more on the barrier. He noticed some strange symbols on it, glimmering faintly, as if whispering some ancient secret.
"These symbols... I feel like I've seen them somewhere before." Li An muttered to himself, as flashes of scenes from his explorations of ancient ruins flickered through his mind.
"Do you remember these symbols?" Guo Yao asked, a gleam of hope in her eyes.
Li An nodded, but his expression was still grave. "These symbols represent an ancient sealing art. To break through this barrier, we must first unravel their secret."
Hearing this, Guo Yao couldn't help but feel a surge of worry. She knew this would be an even harder challenge.
Li An and Guo Yao sat before the barrier and began studying the strange symbols carefully. Silver Moon also came over, eyeing the mysterious marks with its curious gaze.
"These symbols look like some kind of ancient script, but not quite the kind we're familiar with," Li An said, frowning.
Guo Yao nodded. As she looked at the symbols, a strange, inexplicable sense of familiarity welled up inside her. But she knew that feeling alone wouldn't help them solve the puzzle..
