Chapter 689: Crisis Strikes Again

Li An and Lei Nuo seized the opportunity to launch a counterattack against Carlos. They knew this was a good chance to defeat him. Li An swung the sword in his hand, every strike carrying fierce sword Qi. And Lei Nuo, drawing on the powerful strength from another world, posed a tremendous threat to Carlos.

Seeing this, Carlos's face turned ashen. He had not expected that the appearance of this mysterious woman would bring him such great trouble. After the battle dragged on for a while, Carlos finally could hold out no longer. He was split through the shoulder by one of Li An's sword strikes, blood spraying everywhere. He let out a scream and collapsed to the ground. Seeing this, the members of those dark forces also fled in disarray.

Li An and his two companions had finally won. They looked at Carlos sprawled on the ground and the enemies fleeing in panic, and all breathed a sigh of relief. They knew that although this battle had been grueling, they had finally pulled through.

However, just at that moment, the Void Core suddenly began to stir again. That backlash force, as if triggered by something, surged out once more. Li An and his two companions' faces changed drastically; they knew a new crisis had come.

"What do we do? That force is too powerful, we simply can't resist it!" Guo Yao said anxiously.

Li An furrowed his brow tightly, also thinking of a countermeasure. He knew that if they could not quickly come up with a way to withstand that backlash force, they would all perish here.

Just at that moment, the mysterious woman suddenly spoke: "Perhaps, I can give it a try."

Li An and his two companions all froze for a moment; they did not know what method this woman could possibly have to withstand that backlash force. But at this point there was no other option, they could only try a desperate remedy.

They saw that woman walk slowly up to the Void Core, close her eyes, and take a deep breath. Then she began to play the jade flute in her hand. The melody was melodious and pleasant, as if it could pierce through the distracting thoughts in people's hearts. As the flute sounded, that backlash force actually began to gradually subside.

That woman smiled slightly: "You're welcome. I only did what I ought to do."

"Miss, what is your name? How might we repay you?" Guo Yao also spoke up to ask.

That woman gently shook her head: "A name is nothing more than a code, you need not mind it. As for repayment, I would much rather you remember today's experience, cherish your own lives, and not give up so easily."
