Chapter 700: A Massive Stone
Indeed, just as Li An was distracted, Lei Nuo suddenly unleashed a treacherous move. He feigned retreat, secretly gathering power as he stepped backward, ready to deliver a fatal strike against Li An.
Although Li An reacted swiftly, he was still a fraction too slow. His chest was struck heavily by Lei Nuo's fist, sending him flying backward into a massive stone.
"Cough..." Li An lay on the ground, coughing violently, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth. He felt dizzy and disoriented, as if the entire world were spinning.
"Li An!" Guo Yao cried out. She no longer cared for anything else; her form flashed forward as she rushed to Li An's side. She lifted him up, her eyes filled with worry and fury.
"I'm fine..." Li An forced a faint smile, but his face was unnaturally pale.
"You say you're fine! Look at yourself!" Guo Yao's voice trembled with tears. She glared at Lei Nuo in rage. "Lei Nuo, you've gone too far!"
Lei Nuo looked at the two, a cold sneer curling his lips. "Hmph, is this what you call love? How laughable. Li An, you will lose today—inevitably."
Saying this, Lei Nuo charged toward them again, his eyes filled only with slaughter and madness.
Li An took a deep breath, enduring the pain in his chest. He knew there was no longer room for hesitation. He summoned the power of his Void Core, preparing for his final counterattack.
"Guo Yao, step back," Li An said, his voice low and firm.
Though worried, Guo Yao understood that all she could do now was trust Li An. She nodded and stepped aside.
Li An rose to his feet. His eyes blazed with unnatural brightness, as if they could pierce through all illusions. He swept his hands, and countless thin lightning arrows materialized in the void, raining down like a storm upon Lei Nuo.
Lei Nuo was stunned. He had never expected Li An to possess such a powerful technique. He desperately gathered all his strength to block the lightning arrows—but there were too many. He could not stop them all.
"Boom! Boom! Boom!" The lightning arrows struck Lei Nuo's body repeatedly, exploding with each impact. His body was thrown backward again and again, his face twisted with terror and despair...
"No! This isn't possible!" Lei Nuo roared, his eyes blazing with resentment and fury.
But Li An did not cease his assault. He continued directing the lightning arrows, hammering Lei Nuo relentlessly. Finally, after one most violent barrage, Lei Nuo's body collapsed lifelessly to the ground, motionless.
Li An stared at the fallen Lei Nuo, his heart a tangle of emotions. He had never wished to reach this point—but now that it had come, there was no turning back. He dismissed the lightning arrows and walked to Guo Yao's side.
"Let's go," Li An said, his voice hoarse. He felt an unprecedented weariness.
Guo Yao nodded, supporting Li An as they walked together into the distance. Their figures faded slowly into the night, leaving behind only a ruined battlefield and the lifeless form of Lei Nuo.
Yet, just as they were about to vanish into the night, the Void Altar suddenly flared again with eerie light. This glow was brighter than before, as if it would illuminate the entire night sky.
"Li An, look!" Guo Yao cried out, pointing toward the Void Altar.
