Just then, a dark demon worm suddenly lunged at Guo Yao. Its speed was blindingly fast, like a bolt of black lightning.

"Guo Yao!" Li An shouted, his eyes filled with worry.

But Li An reacted even faster. Quick of eye and hand, he pulled Guo Yao into his arms in one swift motion, then stomped the dark demon worm to death underfoot.

A faint blush rose on Guo Yao's cheeks. She looked up at Li An, her eyes brimming with admiration and gratitude. In that moment, she felt as though she were gazing upon the mightiest hero in her heart.

"Thank you, Li An." Guo Yao's voice trembled slightly, her heart overflowing with sweetness and happiness.

Li An gave a faint smile, gently patted Guo Yao on the back, then plunged back into the battle.
