Chapter 751: You Can't Beat Me

~4 min read 663 words

Cain's face shifted slightly, but he quickly regained his composure. He let out a cold snort, his figure suddenly accelerating like a black flash of lightning as he charged toward Xiang Lian. The two clashed in an instant, fists and legs weaving together with bursts of explosive sound.

Every one of Cain's strikes carried a powerful dark force, as if trying to swallow Xiang Lian whole. Though Xiang Lian's strength was considerable, he was beginning to look strained under Cain's fierce assault. He kept retreating, searching for a chance to counter.

"Xiang Lian, give up. You can't beat me." Cain's voice echoed in Xiang Lian's ear, tinged with mockery.

Xiang Lian clenched his teeth, a surge of unyielding fighting spirit rising in his heart: "Cain, don't get too cocky—who wins and who loses is still anyone's guess!"

Just then, a scheme suddenly occurred to Xiang Lian. He deliberately exposed an opening, baiting Cain into throwing a heavy blow. Xiang Lian sidestepped, seized Cain's arm at the same moment, and yanked hard, pulling his body closer.

"You—" Cain hadn't expected Xiang Lian to pull that move, and for a moment was caught off guard.

Xiang Lian seized the chance and punched the hand holding the box. With a sharp "smack," the box slipped from Cain's grasp and dropped to the ground. A flash of delight crossed Xiang Lian's eyes; just as he reached to pick it up, he suddenly felt an overwhelming sense of danger rushing toward him.

Seeing this, a glint of vicious resolve flashed in Cain's eyes. He knew he had already lost the box, but he absolutely could not let Xiang Lian get the key. So he bit down hard, and a tremendous surge of dark power erupted from his entire body. A beam of dark light shot from his palm, streaking straight toward Xiang Lian.

"Xiang Lian, go die!" Cain roared, as if pouring all his fury into that single strike.

At that critical instant, Guo Yao's figure—like a lithe swallow—flew in from the other end of the ruins and planted herself in front of Xiang Lian. Her hands rapidly wove seals, and a dazzling light formed before her, blocking that beam of dark light.

"Boom!" A thunderous crash rang out as the light collided with the dark beam, erupting in a blinding flash. Guo Yao's face instantly went pale, a trickle of blood seeping from the corner of her lips. Yet she endured the pain, holding that line of defense with everything she had.

"Guo Yao!" Seeing this, a flash of horror and fury crossed Xiang Lian's eyes. He let out a furious roar, his body shooting forward like an arrow leaving the bowstring as he charged at Cain.

Seeing Xiang Lian's enraged state, a hint of fear crept into Cain's heart. He knew he had already lost his advantage, and continuing like this would only make things worse. So he turned to flee, hoping to escape before Xiang Lian caught up.

However, how could Xiang Lian give him that chance? He pushed himself to the limit, his speed reaching its peak, and quickly caught up with Cain. He grabbed Cain by the shoulder and slammed him hard onto the ground.

"Want to run? Not that easy!" Xiang Lian roared, his fists raining down on Cain like a storm. Every punch carried tremendous force, battering Cain until he spat blood and was utterly wretched.

Finally, through Xiang Lian's relentless effort, Cain was beaten into a senseless heap. Xiang Lian panted heavily, looked down at Cain sprawled on the ground, and a flash of satisfaction gleamed in his eyes. He turned, picked up the box from the ground, and opened it—inside lay a key radiating a black glow: the "Key of Darkness."

However, when Xiang Lian saw that the box held only a single key, his face instantly darkened. He jerked his head up, scanning his surroundings, as if searching the ruins for any trace of the "Key of Light."
