Chapter 1057: Searching for the Missing Girl
"W-what is it?" Akaso Kaze touched his cheek. "The test results should be out by now, right?"
Another female forensic pathologist came to her senses and hurriedly flashed a kind smile at Akaso Kaze: "They're out. Judging by the residue in the stomach, that girl's last dinner was potatoes, cucumber, carrots, lettuce, seaweed, rice, and a little curry powder and meat. We don't know the type of meat yet, but the glycogen level is three times that of beef."
"Three times?"
"We're not sure if it's horse meat."
"Would anyone eat horse meat?"
"Also," the female pathologist handed a report to Akaso Kaze, "the blood analysis shows that the red blood cells were completely destroyed, and it was the red blood cells of the entire body."
"So it wasn't just simple hypothermia," Mikoto added. "Akaso-sama, your deduction was correct. She must have frozen to death in an environment below minus 20 degrees Celsius, which means there's a high possibility it was a refrigerated transport truck."
"And there's more," the female pathologist picked up another document and said, "The crystals on the victim's hair are indeed salt. Because there are many impurities, it should be seawater, but the composition table isn't out yet."
Akaso Kaze glanced slightly at the report in his hand, feeling a bit unaccustomed to everyone's intense gazes.
Only Mikoto was acting normal; when she wasn't smiling, she still had that cold face, faintly carrying a hint of exhaustion.
"Can you really find out so much detail just from gastric juice? That's amazing," Akaso Kaze continued to look at the report and sighed. "It almost reconstructed an entire dinner. But apart from the unknown type of meat, everything else is very normal."
"The seaweed and rice are very likely a seaweed rice ball, and also... Ah, it's still a bit of a stretch." The female pathologist and a few other members of the autopsy team began to look dispirited.
"It's already very good," Akaso Kaze smiled. "There are no useless clues. As long as we figure out the composition of the crystals, we can roughly know the location where the girl appeared before she was murdered. Everyone has been a huge help."
Only after coming into contact with the specific situation did he realize how difficult forensic work is. It was truly great to have a group of professional forensic pathologists helping.
Once the approximate location of the murder is found through the salt crystals, the dinner ingredients will be the final basis.
After the meeting, the forensic pathologists went back to their own work, and Mikoto hurriedly ran out of the office to catch up with Akaso Kaze.
"Akaso-sama, can you really find Matsukura Hana?"
"Of course I can. Having clues means we are getting closer and closer to the truth," Akaso Kaze stopped in his tracks. "Even if it's just for that girl's final wish, I will find Matsukura Hana."
Mikoto followed Akaso Kaze out of the medical examiner's office building, all the way to the car Akaso Kaze had parked on the side of the road.
"If everything is true, did the murdered girl and Matsukura Hana already have thoughts of suicide?"
"Possibly, but it still needs to be confirmed," Akaso Kaze paused slightly. "Judging by the paper found in her stomach, at least she genuinely wanted to save someone. We can't just ignore it."
"I think so too," Mikoto bit her lip and asked inadvertently, "What is the reason you chose to become a consultant for the Metropolitan Police Department?"
Akaso Kaze smiled. "To seek the truth, and also because I hope I can do something—for the dead, and for the living."
Mikoto looked at him, her eyes shining.
"Have you found her yet?"
It was the next day that the information on the murdered girl was found; a casual bar was located through the girl's necklace pendant, as it happened to be a small gift the shop gave to girls.
The girl seemed to be a hostess hired by this bar.
When Akaso Kaze arrived at the scene, Officer Mouri happened to be there too.
"MIKE? What's her real name?"
"I don't know. She was hired by the previous manager," the bartender responded to Akaso Kaze reluctantly. "She would come to work whenever she felt like it, and leave once she got her pay."
"That's how it is," Mouri said helplessly. "I heard from other girls that she was always writing things in a notebook, filled with things like 'I want to die,' 'What happens after I die,' and so on. It can be confirmed that the suicide note was written by her."
"Anything else?"
"A cyber cafe club she lived near, the name registered was the pseudonym 'Calico Cat'; all that's known is that she often bought cup noodles, and when she left, she would look at a picture of the white night."
Mouri sighed with a headache.
"There's no matching missing person report right now. I don't know if she has any family."
"What about that website?" Akaso Kaze looked at the chatting and laughing bar hostesses; the passing of one person didn't seem to have any impact here.
"Ah, right," Mouri suddenly remembered. "Yesterday, when we were preparing to investigate, we found that the suicide website had suddenly shut down. However, we have already found the website administrator and their address. Would you like to go take a look together, Akaso-sama?"
"It takes too much time. Just tell me directly when there's news. I still have to go to the Medical Examiner's Office next." ===== CHAPTER 1059 =====
