Chapter 1077

~5 min read 952 words

"Tap tap!" A girl wearing a hat ran through the heavy rain in a hurry, and finally had to hide in front of a bookstore to wipe off the rainwater.

"Ah, if I had known, I would have brought an umbrella!"

The girl looked at the endless heavy rain with distress and muttered a word, when her gaze suddenly fell on Akaso Kaze.

At first, she didn't pay attention, but when Akaso Kaze got closer, she whispered, "Lord Akaso?"

"Hmm?"

Akaso Kaze stopped and looked at the girl in confusion.

She was a black-haired girl with slanted bangs and an orange hair clip.

She was of high school age, and her cute, youthful face carried quite a bit of spirit. Even though she was drenched like a drowned rat by the heavy rain, she didn't look disheveled at all.

High school girls these days were really full of energy.

"It's Lord Akaso, right?" The girl asked uncertainly. After seeing Akaso Kaze's appearance clearly, she said happily, "Just like Ran said, you're really handsome!"

"Uh," Akaso Kaze's heart felt like it had been hammered, "Who are you?"

"I'm Wada Hina, a second-year student at Haido High School," the girl smiled happily, "I'm Ran-maru's strongest rival!"

"Ran… maru?"

Akaso Kaze's smile stiffened.

Although she was a cute girl, she seemed a bit strange…

"Are you talking about Mouri Ran?"

"Yeah, we often meet in the semifinals of the karate tournament. Although I always lose to her, sooner or later I will surpass Ran-maru!" The girl clenched her fist confidently.

"So that's how it is. In that case, you are also a very impressive karate competitor."

"Of course."

"But why would Ran mention me to you?" Akaso Kaze looked the girl over again, "And what the heck is Ran-maru?"

"Because Mouri Ran and Mori Ranmaru sound very similar," the girl blushed and smiled embarrassedly, "Calling her that feels like I'm about to defeat Nobunaga's confidant."

"Huh?" Akaso Kaze was speechless.

"It's such a coincidence," the girl said with a grave expression, "I was originally planning to ask you for help these past few days. During the summer training camp, I saw a UFO, but the others in the karate club and my friends didn't believe me. If I hired a senior to find the alien that came to Earth, would that prove I really saw a UFO?"

"A UFO?" Akaso Kaze widened his eyes, "I think… it would be better to ask Ran's father about this kind of thing, right?"

"I don't have much money, so I'm a bit embarrassed to go to Ran's father," the girl stared at Akaso Kaze and said, "Aren't you able to do divination?"

"What does divination have to do with UFOs?" Akaso Kaze said speechlessly, "Where do you live? I'll send you back first; it's easy to catch a cold like this."

"My house is just past this street," the girl replied, and said unwillingly, "Sir, I really did see a UFO, right there at Haido Park."

"Maybe you saw something else. Were there any other witnesses?" Akaso Kaze opened his umbrella and took the girl away.

"There weren't many people in the park at that time. It seems it was because an elementary school teacher had been pushed down the stairs there before."

"What about photos? And, if it was a training camp, were you the only one?"

"T—to defeat Ran, I was overtraining during that period, so I wasn't with the others. I was jogging alone."

The girl said distressfully.

"Because I was running, I didn't bring my phone. But I really did see a UFO, and it flew over from our high school."

"Could it be that your high school made some kind of balloon or something?" Akaso Kaze continued to ask…

"That's impossible. That day, only our karate club was using the gymnasium, and there was no one else anywhere else," the girl said, gesturing with her hands, "And that UFO was a long, thin, cylindrical shape."

"Alright, I'll go take a look at Haido Park when I have time. Let's stop here for today; I still have work to do."

"Hmm! Thank you, Lord Akaso!"

Akaso Kaze sent the girl to the bottom of an apartment building and, feeling helpless, gave a somewhat vague answer.

Watching the girl's happy expression, Akaso Kaze shook his head and walked into the rain alone with his umbrella.

Whether there were aliens in this world or not, he didn't know. The only thing he knew was that this kind of thing couldn't just be something an ordinary high school girl could encounter so easily.

The UFO craze in Japan had never subsided, and there were even specialized UFO magazines that made money off of various true-or-false intelligence. Even Okino Yoko was recently filming a drama about tracking aliens.

Come to think of it, even if Wada Hina really did see a UFO, where was he supposed to find an alien? The only thing he could do was investigate clearly what it was that flew over at that time.

The rain didn't stop until the afternoon, drizzling down, and the gloomy sky made his mood particularly bad.

Akaso Kaze didn't have time to return to the agency, so after finishing his commission, he found a nearby ramen shop.

Eating a full bowl of bone broth ramen, Akaso Kaze's thoughts drifted to Sonoko and her group.

It had already been a week, and today seemed to be the day the girl band was holding their memorial concert.

Sonoko had also taken Ran and the others to show their support and, by the way, to soak in the atmosphere of the scene.

"I'll go take a look later," Akaso Kaze thought.
