Chapter 255
Two police officers immediately stood beside Noboru Kawakami.
Noboru Kawakami's expression changed, and he gave a dry laugh.
"Inspector Megure, who is on the other end of the phone? How can you slander me out of thin air? I only talked to Mr. Takai on the phone when he jumped off the building; how could I be the murderer?"
"If he insists on saying I'm the murderer, where's the evidence? Show me the evidence!"
Oh?
This guy actually refuses to admit his guilt?
Akaso Kaze was observing the situation inside the building with his Space Eye and sneered upon hearing this.
He said calmly over the phone: "Inspector Megure, the criminal wants evidence? The evidence is inside the deceased's mobile phone."
"Press the recording playback button, and you will hear the murderer's voice recorded by the deceased when he was grabbing the curtains at the last moment. In there, there is ironclad evidence of Mr. Kawakami's own confession."
Inspector Megure took the phone from the police officer and pressed the call recording playback button.
The conversation between Takai and Noboru Kawakami before his death was played, and everyone heard it clearly.
After the evidence was played, the expression of everyone around toward Noboru Kawakami changed.
"Mr. Noboru Kawakami, Mr. Takai made it very clear before he died: the murderer is you!"
Inspector Megure said coldly: "In addition, you also confessed on the phone. Next, we just need to do a voiceprint identification, and this will be ironclad evidence. Do you still want to quibble?"
Listening to Inspector Megure's words, Noboru Kawakami's expression changed, and beads of sweat covered his forehead.
He knelt down on the ground in despair, his expression slightly ferocious as he said: "Damn it! I really didn't expect that Takai, that guy, would play me before he died! This bastard, he deserved to die!"
Hearing his words, Chika Shimoda and Toya Nakamachi both let out an "ah."
Chika Shimoda asked in disbelief: "Mr. Kawakami, was it really you who killed Mr. Takai?"
"Yes." Noboru Kawakami nodded.
"I knew the phone signal in Takai's house wasn't very good, and that when Takai answered the phone in the bedroom, he would jump directly from the window to the balcony, so I moved the position of his bedroom bed and deliberately called him, saying the phone signal was bad."
"As a result, that guy fell for it just as I planned, mistaking the window he fell from for the window to the balcony, and fell to his death."
"Then the reason you killed Mr. Takai was indeed because of Senior Hiraya, right?" Toya Nakamachi asked.
"Yes!" Noboru Kawakami's voice was low.
"The reason Hiraya died was because the pressure Takai put on her was too great! And now that Hiraya is dead, Takai gets a promotion—I just couldn't swallow that!"
Noboru Kawakami quickly confessed his murder method and motive clearly.
Just as he finished speaking, the door to Takai's bedroom suddenly opened.
Conan and Heiji Hattori walked out together.
Heiji Hattori said with a smile:
"Inspector Megure, we've almost finished setting up Mr. Takai's bedroom. Once Officer Takagi buys the wine, we can start... hmm?!"
Heiji Hattori didn't finish his sentence. After seeing the situation in the living room, he was instantly dumbfounded.
Why are everyone's expressions so strange, as if they were looking at two clowns?
And, isn't that person kneeling on the ground the murderer, Noboru Kawakami?
What is he doing kneeling on the ground?
Could it be?
Conan and Heiji Hattori both felt an ominous premonition in their hearts.
Inspector Megure laughed, returned the phone to Jodie,
walked to Heiji Hattori's side, and reached out to pat his shoulder.
"Student Heiji, Conan, thank you for your trouble! But there's no need to work anymore. Just a moment ago, Lord Akaso already caught the murderer, announced the ironclad evidence, and the murderer has already confessed."
Hearing Inspector Megure's words, Conan and Heiji Hattori felt as if they had been struck by lightning.
A mouthful of blood surged to their throats, and they almost spat it out.
Such a familiar feeling.
How is it like this again?
We just got ready, and we haven't even said a word of our deduction; how did Akaso Kaze get ahead of us again?
Conan wished he could slap himself.
If I had known, why didn't I just say it directly?
Why bother with a case recreation?
Am I crazy?
Conan and Heiji Hattori were on the verge of tears, their eyes looking at each other with shared misery, like two jilted lovers abandoned by a scumbag.
Jodie took the phone, said "uh-huh" twice, looked at Inspector Megure, and said: "Inspector Megure, now that the murderer has been caught, we'll take our leave. Akaso-san is waiting for us at the cafe across the street!"
"Hmm, go ahead." Inspector Megure agreed generously. "I'll send someone to find you tomorrow to fill out a statement."
He was already happy enough that the case was solved so easily; there was no need to stop people from eating over a small matter.
"Is it certain that this case is completely clear? Do you really not need our help?"
Heiji Hattori was still unwilling to give up.
Inspector Megure pointed at Heiji Hattori and Conan unhappily.
"Hey, you two, leave immediately. The case is solved; why are you two Gods of Death still staying here? Do you want to kill someone else?"
A few minutes later, Conan and Heiji Hattori, looking dumbfounded and frustrated, followed Jodie downstairs and walked toward the cafe.
Seeing this scene, Akaso Kaze smiled slightly and called the waiter over.
"Bring me another coffee."
The waiter looked at the coffee on the table.
Akaso Kaze smiled. "This one is for someone else; she doesn't like it too hot."
The waiter nodded and returned to the back kitchen.
Akai Shuichi Akai heard his subordinate's report, his face turning livid.
Hmph, Onmyoji, it seems you really did make an appointment with Jodie. I want to see what kind of tricks you two are up to.
He put some potion into a new coffee cup, handed the waiter something else, and muttered a few words in a low voice.
The waiter served the coffee, then casually steadied the table, sticking the object under it.
Akaso Kaze raised an eyebrow.
A wiretap?
What on earth is that guy Akai Shuichi Akai doing?
Jodie and the two others quickly arrived at the cafe.
Seeing Akaso Kaze, Heiji Hattori was alright, but Conan's eyes were almost spitting fire.
Akaso Kaze curled his lips and pushed the two cups of coffee over.
"You've been busy all night, you must be tired. Drink some coffee to moisten your throats first."
Conan said angrily: "No need, I'm full just seeing you."
He was too lazy to pretend and said to Jodie: "Teacher Jodie, I don't get along with this guy. If he's here, I won't eat this meal."
Jodie pretended to look at Akaso Kaze in a dilemma.
"Akaso-san, why don't we go back and eat."
"Sure." Akaso Kaze was exactly as he wished, stepping forward to embrace Jodie, his fingers resting on her exposed slender waist.
Conan and Heiji Hattori were very envious seeing this.
The two of them left the cafe while showing off their affection, leaving behind two single dogs who had just been dealt a blow.
"What do you have to eat in your shop?"
"Waiter?"
Seeing Akaso Kaze leave without drinking the coffee, the waiter was a bit confused. It was only after Conan called twice that he came to his senses.
"Burgers, cola, pizza... we have them all."
"Then bring two burgers. Heiji, this is Tokyo, so I'll treat you..."
Conan said while reaching into his pocket.
"Huh?" Conan's movements suddenly stiffened, and he looked at Heiji Hattori. "I think I left my wallet at home!"
"Ha? What did you say?" Heiji Hattori pouted. "Seriously, then let me do it!"
