Chapter 607: The Struggle for Vermouth

~4 min read 791 words

In the headset, Jodie asked: "Shuichi, what do you plan to do next? It's very dangerous to go on like this; should we send that woman back?"

"It's useless; staying in one position will only be more dangerous." Akai Shuichi said coldly: "Proceed according to the original plan."

Szz.

Just then, a sharp screech of brakes suddenly came from ahead.

Akai Shuichi's expression tightened, and he asked over the walkie-talkie: "What's going on?"

"Damn it, a truck ahead has overturned, causing a pile-up, blocking the road! We must change routes!"

The FBI agent clearing the way replied.

At a time like this, no one would take the accident as a coincidence.

Akai Shuichi glanced at the rearview mirror a few times and connected to another FBI agent's walkie-talkie.

"Watch my rear-left direction; that black sedan, the license plate number is..."

As he was speaking, with a boom, a serious car accident also occurred behind them.

And the people in the two cars that collided not only weren't injured, but were able to jump out of the cars immediately and open fire with guns!

The FBI behind hurriedly engaged in battle.

Soon, similar things happened two more times; Akai Shuichi was forced to turn into a road with little traffic, relying on his own excellent driving skills to weave through the narrow road, leaving the Black Organization's vehicles tracking him behind.

Half an hour later, a certain pedestrian commercial street.

Accompanied by the screeching of tires...

Two of the FBI agents were escorting Vermouth, running wildly through the commercial street.

Akai Shuichi and the others ran about a hundred meters inside, and the entrance to the commercial street made a few more creaking sounds.

Five or six cars stopped, and a group of men in black got out one after another, assigned their tasks, and chased toward the commercial street.

Inside the street, Akai Shuichi glanced at the men in black chasing behind him, furrowed his brows, and asked Camel beside him: "How much longer until the police reinforcements arrive?"

"Two more minutes," Camel replied, "They said they would wait for us outside the alley on the west side of this commercial street."

"Hmm, that's good." Akai Shuichi narrowed his eyes, "Next, I'll attract the opponent's attention; you find a way to shake them off and leave with Vermouth."

"Alright, Akai."

Camel nodded, then hesitated, "But, isn't that very dangerous for you?"

"Don't worry, I have it under control."

While Akai Shuichi was speaking, he ran in a zigzag pattern.

Suddenly, a soft "pop" sound came from his ear.

Akai Shuichi's pupils shrank, and he turned his head to glance at the ground behind him.

Smoke and dust were rising there, and a bullet hole was clearly visible.

He immediately took a handgun out from inside his clothes.

His gaze swept over the surrounding buildings, spotted a figure leaning out of a window, and fired a shot without hesitation.

Accompanied by the gunshot, a bullet hit the wall beside the window, and that figure shrank back.

Inside the street, the surrounding crowd heard the gunshot and all screamed in panic, hiding away.

Behind Akai Shuichi, Camel and the others stopped one after another and turned to look at Akai Shuichi.

"Akai, what's wrong? What happened?"

"It seems an old friend is waiting for me here."

Akai Shuichi narrowed his eyes, his gaze carefully observing his surroundings, his body moving constantly in an irregular pattern:

"Don't worry about me; leave here with Vermouth immediately, now!"

In the middle of the commercial street, in the restroom of a building.

Chianti leaned against the wall, holding a sniper rifle, and carefully glanced out the window.

Then, pressing her headset, she spoke somewhat depressedly:

"He actually dodged it! I really didn't expect this guy to be so vigilant; I thought I could solve him with one shot."

Gin's cold snort came from the walkie-talkie: "It's normal that you didn't hit him. If that guy were really that easy to kill, he wouldn't be called the 'Silver Bullet'."

As Gin was speaking, Korn, hiding in another building, spoke up: "Gin, how about we surround and kill this traitor now?"

"No."

Gin shook his head.

"There are too many sheep getting in the way here, and the police are on their way. If he hides in some shop, it will be very difficult for us to storm in within a short time."

"Our main task now is to snatch Vermouth back from the FBI."

Hearing this, Calvados immediately agreed over the walkie-talkie: "That's right, rescuing Vermouth is what's important. Gin, Akai Shuichi and his subordinates are separated now; his subordinates have taken Vermouth away, which is the perfect opportunity for us to rescue her..." ===== CHAPTER 609 =====
