Chapter 79

~6 min read 1,068 words

"Which great detective could notify the police that they'd found the bomb before I even mentioned I'd set one?"

"I went to such great lengths to pull off this earth-shattering case, yet in his eyes, it might just be a joke."

"If he had come to that afternoon tea party back then, I might not have even been able to steal the explosives."

Teiji Moriya sneered at Conan, "Only a silly kid like you would be fooled; help me unlock the password to the explosives warehouse."

Conan couldn't help but raise his hand to cover his chest.

Damn it, so frustrating.

"` 」However, things aren't over yet." Teiji Moriya chuckled coldly.

"Lord Akaso, I've set one final puzzle, though I don't know if you can solve it this time."

Akaso Kaze's bedroom door opened silently.

A small figure slipped inside.

"Akaso Kaze, Akaso-san?"

Ai Haibara called out in a low voice twice.

The person on the bed didn't respond, sleeping soundly.

Ai Haibara secretly climbed onto the bed and burrowed into his warm embrace.

She pulled Akaso Kaze's arm over to hold herself.

How wonderful; at least for this moment, he belonged solely to her.

Akaso Kaze suddenly moved, his large hand tightening.

It happened to pinch Ai Haibara.

She was so nervous that her whole body stiffened.

Yet there was no movement behind her.

It seemed Akaso Kaze's movement was merely unconscious.

But Ai Haibara, with her back to Akaso Kaze, couldn't see the slight curl of his lips as he revealed a smug smile.

Trying to drug a mage who possesses the Eye of Space? How could that be possible?

He could guess Ai Haibara's thoughts; she definitely didn't want him to go on a date with Ran.

Of course the date couldn't be canceled; I still have to take things a step further tonight.

As for Ai Haibara...

You delivered yourself to my door, so don't blame me for being impolite.

His hand began to move slightly.

Inspector Megure frowned, looking at the pitch-black sky.

"The amount of explosives seized is only a quarter of the total stolen, based on the batch stolen a few days ago."

"So, three-quarters of the gunpowder is still unaccounted for?" Kogoro Mouri said.

"Damn it, we really aren't as good as Akaso-san; we interrogated them for hours and got nothing. We might as well just call him and ask."

Inspector Megure took out his phone.

At the same time, Conan was frowning and thinking in the exhibition hall.

Teiji Moriya is truly a pervert to want to blow up so many buildings for such an inexplicable reason.

But where are the remaining explosives?

Judging by what he said, they are all set up in one place.

Where exactly would Teiji Moriya set them up?

Looking at the architectural drawings in the exhibition hall, Conan was suddenly stunned.

There is only one building that would require so much explosive power to destroy.

Oh no, it seems Ran is on a date with Akaso Kaze there today!

Damn it, Akaso Kaze, if you harm Ran, I will never forgive you.

No, I have to hurry and tell Inspector Megure to send people to defuse the bombs.

Conan trotted all the way and found Inspector Megure.

"Inspector Megure, hurry, hurry, hurry and go..."

"Beika City Hall?" Inspector Megure was nodding repeatedly while holding the phone.

"What, you'll handle the bomb defusal? That's great. Don't worry, I'll evacuate the crowd immediately."

Hanging up the phone, Inspector Megure let out a long breath.

"Evacuate everyone in Beika City Hall immediately; except for Akaso-san, evacuate everyone."

"Yes." Officer Shiratori turned to make arrangements.

"Conan, is something the matter?" Inspector Megure finally had time to ask.

"I... it's nothing."

Conan was speechless.

What could I possibly have to say?

The answer I finally thought of was snatched away by someone else.

And Akaso Kaze even took on the job of defusing the bombs.

He can even defuse bombs? How come I've never heard him mention it?

"Haha, haha, how is that possible? There's only one minute left until ten o'clock."

Teiji Moriya looked at his watch and said happily.

"How could anyone defuse my bombs in such a short time?"

"The first round of explosions will block the hall's entrances and emergency exits; the real excitement is yet to come."

Hearing this, everyone couldn't help but worry.

At this moment, Akaso Kaze was taking the elevator with Ran.

While holding Ran's slender waist, he used his prediction magic and Hand of Thought to collect the bombs into his soul space.

One, two, three...

It's been a long time since I've picked up things like this.

I used to pick up money, but now I've upgraded to picking up bombs.

The souls in the space hid far away; they didn't dare to get close.

If so many bombs were to explode, they would likely be scattered to the winds.

Actually, they were overthinking it.

Akaso Kaze's soul space is completely different from the real world.

Once the bombs entered the space, the timers stopped instantly.

The bombs were all buried at the base of the skyscraper; by the time Akaso Kaze and Ran reached the fifth floor, all the bombs were already in the space.

As soon as they stepped out of the elevator, several police officers bowed and scraped.

"Lord Akaso, we leave this to you."

"Go ahead." Akaso Kaze waved his hand.

Several police officers hurriedly ran into the elevator.

"Akaso-san, what's wrong with them?" Ran Mouri asked curiously.

"Nothing, I rented out the whole building to celebrate our hundredth day of knowing each other."

"Ah, really?" Ran was stunned.

Akaso Kaze thought to himself, in such a chaotic timeline, if I say it's true, then it's true.

They arrived at the most luxurious cinema hall and sat in the couple's seats together.

Akaso Kaze used his prediction magic to pick a film that would move Ran the most and also had a bit of spice.

Then he used his Hand of Thought to start the playback.

The surroundings were empty, and Ran was a bit reserved at first.

But soon, she was immersed in the moving plot.

— Author's Notes —

PS: I had a fever of 39 degrees last night and it only went down four hours after taking fever medicine; it's only 37 degrees now, so I'm rushing to write a chapter.
