Chapter 1242: 1243: Guilty Conscience?
Capítulo 1242: Chapter 1243: Guilty Conscience?
Taking a look around the large living room, he didn’t see Qin Feimo’s figure, so he couldn’t help but ask his wife.
“He just went upstairs. What’s up?”
“I was planning to ask him if there’s an appropriate position in the company, so he can arrange one for Jinglei.” Holding a cane, Qin Guozhong walked down and sat in front of the sofa.
“He’s gone upstairs to sleep. It’s better if you don’t bring it up for now.”
“Why?” Qin Guozhong asked his wife, confused.
Zhuang Yanyan sighed, “It’s all because of that Ma Qianqian situation. Feimo’s attitude towards Jinglei isn’t like before, and Jinglei seems aware of this, so she apparently doesn’t want Feimo to step in.”
Upon hearing this, Qin Guozhong furrowed his brow and sighed lightly.
It seems I must find a way for them to marry soon. Otherwise, with my grandson’s attitude, let alone developing feelings, he’ll just drift further away from Jinglei…
No, I need to come up with a good plan!
…
As night gradually deepened.
Feng Jinglei, unable to sleep, glanced at the time and found it was already eleven thirty.
She got up, went to the bathroom, and came out still feeling sleepless.
Since her mother passed away, her sleep hasn’t been good; many times she had to rely on sleeping pills to help her rest.
Knowing she had a company interview tomorrow, and that she shouldn’t stay up too late, she decided to take half a sleeping pill to make herself fall asleep.
She opened the bedside drawer, took out the sleeping pills, and realized she was out of water, so she went downstairs to the kitchen.
Having lived here for three years, Feng Jinglei was well-acquainted with the layout of the house.
Because it was late at night, the corridor and the ground floor living room were shrouded in darkness. Using the moonlight from outside, Feng Jinglei didn’t turn on the lights and directly went downstairs.
After entering the kitchen, she then turned on the light, poured a glass of plain boiled water, and was about to return upstairs.
She was just at the stairwell corner, not yet to the second floor, when suddenly she heard steady and efficient footsteps in the quiet corridor.
She paused, recognizing it wasn’t the footsteps of Grandpa Qin or Grandma Qin.
It was Qin Feimo, did he stay here overnight?
Raising her head, gazing at the corner on the second floor, feeling the footsteps getting closer, Feng Jinglei suddenly felt a bit of panic, instinctively turning to run downstairs, hiding herself in the moonlight beside the staircase.
The person descending was indeed Qin Feimo, who came down because he was thirsty, intending to pour a glass of water.
However, just as he stepped out, he suddenly paused, his brow slightly knitting.
“Who’s there?”
Pressing against the wall beside the staircase, Feng Jinglei’s heart suddenly raced, not even knowing why she was hiding.
“Come out!” In the dark, his voice was elegantly low and husky, exceptionally pleasant and appealing.
Feng Jinglei took a deep breath, intending to step out, raising her head, the man’s imposing figure casting her completely in shadow against the moonlight.
Though his silhouette blocked the moonlight, entirely enveloping her frail figure, Qin Feimo still recognized her at a glance, now furrowing his brows slightly.
“Feeling guilty like a thief?”
His voice devoid of warmth, held a hint of sarcasm, instantly piercing Feng Jinglei’s heart.
She stepped out; beneath the dusky moonlight, her delicate face exuded an indistinct beauty, yet when she spoke, her voice matched his coldness.
“Qin Young Master is overthinking, Grandpa and Grandma treat me well, there’s nothing I need to steal here.”
Qin Feimo suddenly curled his lips in a mocking smile, revealing a sneer, “Grandpa and Grandma? Skipping the ‘Qin,’ you really have no shame.”
