Chapter 83 - 083 | Terrax, The Drake
Reyansh stored all the corpses into his inventory before moving forward. His mana levels had fallen below fifty percent, prompting him to take his Katana out for the moment while his mana recovered.
As he sprinted ahead, he felt mana entering his body in gushes through the net of mana he made in his body during cultivation.
’Would you like to take it slow, boss?’ Lyrielle asked, sensing his depleted mana level.
’Nah, I’ll recover,’ Reyansh denied immediately.
’Mana Potions then?’ she questioned.
’Haven’t drank them till now, I don’t want to think about it unless it’s life and death situation,’ he replied as he rushed forward.
’And he is willing to put in an extra effort. Is that why you chose him, AAKASHA?’ Lyrielle thought internally, folding her hands.
’He is literally turning out to be the best channel owner a Streamborne could ask for,’ a small smile formed on the Lyrielle’s cute face, though no one could see it except maybe an entity responsible for bringing them together.
Moving forward, Reyansh sensed two monsters slithering in the tunnels above. He stood a step behind the opening, letting the monsters come out.
Just as the first monster came out, he jumped, reaching the height of the monster’s neck. He swung his sword in a wide arc, cleaving its neck in one sweep.
He created a fire slab below and used it as a step, turning to side as second monster emerged. He stabbed the monster on its weak point, ending its life.
Both monsters, Ironfang, fell down, their body lifeless. He stored their bodies and moved forward.
He kept his eyes and ears open, moving forward as he felt his mana reserves returning to normal slowly.
"I have a question, do you guys have any suggestions for a good mount? Something that is suitable for land, water, air and any other environment," he questioned.
’Boss! What about that cool car waiting outside?’ Lyrielle asked, surprised at his question.
’That’s for Vanya, I am using it till she goes back to school. The whole reason for buying that car and employing Amit was because of her comfort.’ He explained.
[Daoist_kun: Of course, a dragon.]
[Fiery_Redina: Qulin]
[Ellise: Ice griffins looks amazing and rides better too.]
[Anonimus_Assassin: Shadow crow for complete stealth.]
[The Blazing Sandra: That’s entirely upto you, the type of mount depends on your preferences.]
[Storm_Knight: Your requirements are quite broad to be honest. Nothing comes to the head at the moment.]
[Ramon_Night: Morph Beast]
[Raisena_Forge: Rocbird could be an option.]
[Red Falcon: I was about to suggest the same @Ramon_Night, though they are a bit difficult to acquire.]
While Reyansh was reading the comments, he sensed two monsters in the vicinity.
He gripped the katana tight, manifesting a second katana in his other hand, radiating with True Flame.
"Sorry, guys, let’s pick this up after I clear this dungeon," he stated as both monsters came out of tunnel.
Ironfang Wyrm and Gravemaw Wyrm together, Reyansh jumped straight at Ironfang, a consecutive slash from both Katanas cleaved its head cleanly.
The Gravemaw screamed loudly, forcing Reyansh to jump off the body of Ironfang. Reyansh hid behind the body until the monster screamed.
"Was he your buddy? Don’t worry, you will be joining him soon," Reyansh taunted as he racked his brain about way to attack.
’Physical attack are less effective against it and I don’t want to use too much mana until I face the boss,’ he thought.
Suddenly an idea came to his mind, he create a bow from his sigil and condensed an arrow of True Flame on it.
Just as the scream stopped, he jumped onto the body of Ironfang monster and jumped even higher from there. In the air, he steadied his hands, his eyes locked onto the crown scale on its head.
He stretched the string on the bow, until he couldn’t. He saw a rock shard flying at him but he kept his focus, he titled his head slightly as the rock shard barely passed beside him.
The moment rock shard was about to pass, Reyansh released arrow. A yellowish streak appeared as the next moment, it was embedded into the crown scale.
The monster writhed in pain but before it could even complete its scream, the arrowhead exploded, leaving behind a hole the size of a fist.
[Storm_Knight: Archery too! At this moment tell me which weapon you aren’t proficient in that would be easy.]
[Red Falcon: Excellent mana conservation.]
[Ellise: It looks somewhat poetic, such a big body and died by such a small hole comparatively.]
Reyansh landed on the ground as the bow turned back into a katana.
Lyrielle highlighted Storm_Knight’s message for Reyansh to respond.
"Ahh...I dabble in all kinds of weapons I could get my hands on," Reyansh replied, trying to appear modest.
[Dread Fist: I suspected that, your speed of comprehension and adaptation is one of the highest I had ever seen.]
[Storm_Knight: I think that too.]
Reyansh stored the both of the bodies and ran forward. He could feel it, few more minutes and his mana will recover completely.
He rushed through tunnel, eliminating few more Ironfang and some Gravemaw. As he headed, he heard a growling sound for the first time.
’It looks I’m are nearing the boss monster.’
He followed the slight growling sound, as he neared, he saw the tunnels getting wider. Even the monsters stopped appearing, like they were afraid to encroach upon boss’s territory.
Reyansh kept his perception sharp as he went deeper. He sensed a big opening ahead, he slowed his steps slightly.
’My mana is almost recovered but delaying won’t sit well with the stream,’ he thought pressing forward again.
A few seconds later, he stepped into an entirely open area. However, just as planted his feet, a wave of killing intent passed over him, like a warning about the monster he was about to face.
As he took his second step, he felt a pressure like the atmosphere itself was opposing him. Even taking another step looked like a challenge, veins popped up on his forehead as he tried to push forward.
He sensed something creeping into his body but before it could enter, his mental energy stopped that energy from entering. When his mental energy made contact with that energy, he understood immediately, it was fear.
’So it is some kind of special aura,’ he concluded, ’but my mental energy can negate it.’
Next, he immediately covered himself in his mental energy forming a thin barrier protecting himself from that aura.
Feeling the aura being less restrictive, he walked further. His eyes fell upon the humongous monster resting in front, its golden bright eyes focused on Reyansh like a predator looking at prey.
In front of this monster, Gravemaw and Ironfang looked like toddler. Its only distinction was its forelimbs thicker than a pillar.
[The Blazing Sandra: That’s a Drake.]
[Storm_Knight: Yup, an Earth Drake.]
[Ellise: It’s a B-rank monster, easily.]
Reyansh extended his perception, trying to cover the entire area, larger than two football fields. The tunnel behind him felt like a tiny opening in front of the space ahead.
Just as Reyansh took one step further, the Drake stomped its foot on the boulder in front. The boulder immediately turned to dust as cracks started spreading from that point along with a tremor.
’Were you the cause of that tremor?’ he thought as tried to maintain his balance.
One wide crack reached near him, he jumped to other side of the crack. As the tremor passed, he focused his eyes on it with intent to use True Sight.
A pane appeared in front of him, it read:
[Terrax, The Earth Drake]
[At the start of True Draconic evolution, it has consumed many Wyrms to reach this stage. It possesses an aura of dominance along with other skills.]
[Weakness: It can either be defeated from inside or by overwhelming power from outside.]
’Overwhelming power, I can do that.’
Reyansh smirked as he spoke, "How about we end this exploration with a bang?"
While the Drake opened its mouth, ready to attack.
