Chapter 203: That
As night fell, in the Sun Country military camp, soldiers gathered together, whispering and discussing this miraculous unit from Long Country.
Most of them looked haggard, their eyes filled with fear and suspicion.
"Can they really shoot down an F-86?" a young soldier asked in a low voice, "That is the ace fighter jet of Di Guo."
"Who knows," an old soldier shook his head, "I fought on the front line for three months and saw with my own eyes how the F-86 turned our positions into a sea of fire. That thing is as fast as Lightning; it's impossible to hit."
"But that Li Yunlong doesn't look like he's bragging," another soldier said, "And their equipment is truly special; I've never seen that kind of tracked vehicle before, climbing mountains as if they were flat ground."
The soldiers' conversation was filled with conflicting emotions.
On one hand, they longed to believe in the hope brought by the Long Country army; on the other hand, the psychological shadow left by the Di Guo air force was too deep, making it hard for them to easily believe that anyone could stand against such terrifying power.
In the Sun Country officer's tent, Jin Zhengzhe was holding a secret meeting with several Advanced officers.
"Do you think what they said is true?" a Colonel asked, his voice full of doubt, "Twenty-three F-86s shot down? Is it really not just bragging?"
Jin Zhengzhe pondered for a moment: "Li Yunlong doesn't look like he's lying. Furthermore, there have indeed been reports that Di Guo air force activity has decreased significantly recently, which might confirm his claims."
"If it's true," another officer whispered, "then it means the war situation might be reversed. Without air superiority, the Di Guo ground forces will lose their greatest reliance."
Jin Zhengzhe nodded, a complex light flickering in his eyes: "Tomorrow morning, I will personally see how their Anti-aircraft System is deployed. If Long Country truly has this capability, we must adjust our strategy and fully utilize this advantage."
"I hope it's not a dream," the Colonel muttered to himself, "We can no longer afford another disappointment."
……
Early in the morning, fog shrouded the valley, providing a certain kind of hidden protection.
Li Yunlong had long since risen and was directing the troops in the deployment of the Anti-aircraft System.
"The Radar Station is set on this hilltop; the view is wide, and it can monitor the airspace within a 100-kilometer radius," Li Yunlong said, pointing at the map.
"Four 'Tianluo System' units are deployed at these positions respectively, forming a cross-fire network. The 'Flying Dragon-1' team is dispersed across various high grounds to ensure all-around coverage."
Jin Zhengzhe and his officers stood to the side, watching the Long Country army's anti-aircraft deployment intently. Their eyes were filled with amazement and admiration.
"This type of deployment... is very scientific," Jin Zhengzhe couldn't help but comment, "You seem to have a profound understanding of modern warfare."
Li Yunlong smiled: "These were all taught to me by that kid Li Mingyuan. He is our 'secret weapon'; he knows more than all of us combined."
Jin Zhengzhe nodded thoughtfully and didn't ask further.
He knew that every country had its own secrets, and this was clearly a topic Long Country did not wish to discuss much.
After the Anti-aircraft System was deployed, Li Yunlong turned to Jin Zhengzhe and began to ask in detail about the specific situation on the Sun Country battlefield.
"Lieutenant Colonel Jin, tell me about the offensive posture of Di Guo. How do they usually fight? Do they have a fixed pattern?"
Jin Zhengzhe unfolded a more detailed map:
"The tactics of Di Guo are quite fixed. First is aerial reconnaissance, then large-scale bombing to destroy our positions and fortifications. After the bombing, ground forces begin their attack, with tanks leading the way and infantry following."
His finger traced across several valleys on the map:
"But in this mountainous terrain, their mechanized advantage is greatly diminished. Tanks cannot effectively deploy and can only advance along a limited number of roads, making them easy to ambush. Therefore, they rely more on air power."
Li Yunlong nodded: "So the key is still air superiority. As long as we can control the sky, the Di Guo ground forces will lose their greatest reliance."
"That's right, but the problem is," Jin Zhengzhe said with worry,
"Recently, Di Guo seems to have changed its tactics. They have started using a new type of heavy howitzer, the M115 203mm howitzer, with a range of 25 kilometers and shells weighing 90 kilograms; the power is astonishing."
Li Yunlong raised his eyebrows: "How powerful is that thing?"
"Very terrifying," Jin Zhengzhe said with a grave expression, "A single shell can destroy a reinforced bunker. They call it the 'Mountain Collapse Cannon', specifically used to flatten mountain positions. According to intelligence, Di Guo has already deployed at least one artillery battalion to the front line, preparing to launch a new round of offensives."
Jin Zhengzhe paused and continued:
"This cannon can strike precisely from a long distance; even without air support, it can destroy our defensive fortifications. They plan to use this Heavy Artillery to 'collapse the mountains' and clear a path for the ground forces."
Li Yunlong listened, his eyes growing brighter: "Heavy Artillery? Good, this is exactly what we need."
Jin Zhengzhe looked confused: "What do you mean?"
"It means," Li Yunlong revealed a crafty smile, "we can have an artillery battle with Di Guo and let them see our firepower."
Jin Zhengzhe stared at Li Yunlong, dumbfounded:
"Fight... an artillery battle? With Di Guo?" His tone was filled with disbelief, "General Li, do you know how strong the Di Guo artillery is? They not only have large-caliber howitzers but also Advanced ranging and Fire Control System, with precision far exceeding our old-fashioned artillery."
Li Yunlong waved his hand dismissively:
"Advanced or not, a shell hurts the same when it hits you. Come, let me show you our gear."
He led Jin Zhengzhe to a hidden mountain hollow, where rows of peculiar rocket launch devices were parked.
"This is the 107mm Rocket Launcher; it can fire 12 Rocket Shells at once, covering an area three times that of a standard Mortar, with a range of 10 kilometers," Li Yunlong said, patting a rocket launcher with a face full of pride.
"Most importantly, it is light and flexible; two people can carry it, and it has extremely high mobility in mountain warfare."
Jin Zhengzhe walked around the rocket launcher, his eyes full of curiosity: "This is indeed a good weapon, but can it stand against the Di Guo heavy howitzers?"
"Of course that's not what we're relying on," Li Yunlong smiled mysteriously and led him to another spot, "This is our ace."
He lifted a piece of camouflage canvas, revealing several cannons with peculiar designs.
"This is the Ultra-light Alloy Mortar; it is 40% lighter than traditional mortars, but the range is increased by 20%. The most critical thing is its high precision, and one soldier can operate it independently. We can deploy it all over the mountains to form a three-dimensional fire network."
Jin Zhengzhe nodded, but there were still doubts in his eyes: "These weapons are indeed excellent, but facing the Di Guo heavy artillery..."
"Don't be impatient, there is one last thing," Li Yunlong interrupted him, pointing to a strictly guarded ammunition box, "This is the real trump card—the Cloud Bomb."
He signaled for a soldier to open the box, inside which were rows of ordinary-looking bombs.
