Chapter 322: Bombarding the Aircraft Carrier!

~6 min read 1,137 words

Three deafening, consecutive explosions rang out.

The three frigates were hit almost simultaneously; massive fireballs soared into the air, and thick smoke obscured half the sky.

"Good God..." a ground crew member slumped on the deck, watching helplessly as the nearby frigate was torn to shreds, "How did they do it..."

The remaining missiles were still closing in, aimed directly at the aircraft carrier.

"All Anti-aircraft Guns, concentrate your fire!" Jackson ordered hysterically from the bridge, his voice laced with despair, "Protect the aircraft carrier at all costs!"

All Anti-aircraft weapons on the aircraft carrier opened fire at full capacity, forming a dense web of firepower.

But those missiles seemed to possess life and intelligence, penetrating the defenses at the weakest points of the barrage and continuing their approach.

"They're almost here! Five kilometers... four kilometers..." the Radar operator's voice trembled so much it was barely audible.

Just at this critical moment, several missiles suddenly exploded at a high altitude about two kilometers from the aircraft carrier—but not a conventional explosion; instead, they released a cloud of pitch-black powder.

"What is that?" the Chief of Staff asked, pointing at the rapidly spreading black cloud.

Jackson's face turned deathly pale in an instant, "Graphite Bomb! Cut the power! All electronic equipment will..."

Before he could finish his sentence, the lights on the bridge flickered a few times and then went out completely.

All display screens turned pitch black; the Radar, communication, and navigation systems all failed.

"Anti-aircraft System out of control!" the Communication Officer reported in terror, "The electronics bay is completely blacked out, all systems are paralyzed!"

The aircraft carrier instantly turned into a giant metal box, losing all high-tech support.

The Anti-aircraft Gun fire stopped abruptly, leaving only a few old-fashioned Anti-aircraft Guns that could still be operated manually firing blindly.

The deck was in chaos. Pilots jumped out of their fighter jets, watching the approaching missiles in terror.

Ground crew members scattered and fled, looking for cover.

"Impossible! This is impossible!" an officer knelt on the deck, eyes full of despair, "This aircraft carrier has thirty-centimeter-thick armor; it is unsinkable... this is impossible..."

The remaining missiles whistled as they approached the aircraft carrier, suddenly climbing at the last moment before diving from different angles, precisely hitting the aircraft carrier's key areas—the ammunition depot, the engine room, the command center...

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Amidst the continuous explosions, the entire aircraft carrier shook violently, as if a wounded giant beast were wailing.

The sound of twisting steel, mixed with the screams of sailors, composed a symphony of hell.

"We've been hit!" Jackson stumbled forward on the dark bridge, trying to maintain command, "Damage report! Immediately!"

"Multiple key locations hit!" an officer checked the report by the light of an emergency lamp, his voice desperate,

"Ammunition depot... chain reaction explosions... engine room severely damaged... multiple holes in the hull..."

"Start the backup generators!" Jackson ordered, "Restore communication and navigation!"

"The backup generators have been hit too!" the Communication Officer shouted in despair, "We have completely lost power!"

On the aircraft carrier's deck, the situation was even more chaotic.

The first wave of explosions had already blown several large holes in the flight deck; several fighter jets were blown to pieces, and fires caused by leaking fuel were spreading rapidly.

"Run! Get to the lifeboat station!" Maikesi pulled the injured Tangmu, struggling forward through the thick smoke, "The aircraft carrier is sinking!"

"Impossible... this is impossible..." Tangmu repeated, his eyes dazed, "'Enterprise' is unsinkable..."

Just then, the alarm for the second wave of missiles sounded intermittently over the already half-paralyzed broadcast system.

"God, there are more missiles!" an officer pointed desperately at the black dots reappearing on the distant sea surface, "We're finished..."

By now, the aircraft carrier had begun to tilt; a large amount of seawater surged in through the holes blown open, and the terrifying sound of metal tearing came from inside the hull.

The second wave of missiles, like the scythe of death, once again precisely hit the aircraft carrier's vital parts.

This time, the explosion was even more violent; the entire forward deck was flipped over, twisted steel flew everywhere, and countless sailors were thrown into the air.

"Abandon ship! Abandon ship immediately!" Jackson finally gave the most painful order of his life, "All personnel, evacuate immediately!"

The lifeboat alarm wailed, but in the chaos, many sailors could no longer hear it.

They ran blindly through the smoke and fire, looking for a path to escape. Some jumped into the sea, some crowded toward the lifeboats, and others were trapped inside the hull, unable to get out.

"Help! Someone save me!" a young sailor was pinned under a collapsed steel plate, blood gushing from his mouth, "I don't want to die... I'm only nineteen..."

No one could hear his cries for help. Everyone on the aircraft carrier was fighting for their own life.

On the bridge, Jackson refused his adjutant's suggestion to evacuate, "I must ensure everyone evacuates safely."

"But General, if we don't leave now, it will be too late!" the adjutant said urgently.

Jackson shook his head, his eyes full of grief, "This is my duty. You go first."

The adjutant gave a military salute, tears welling in his eyes, then turned and left the bridge.

The tilt of the aircraft carrier grew steeper, and explosions inside the ship followed one after another.

The third wave of missiles was already within sight; they would be the final, fatal blow.

Meanwhile, not far from the aircraft carrier, the captain of the frigate "Yongganhao" was witnessing all of this through binoculars, his face as pale as paper.

"God..." he muttered to himself, "Is this the future of war? Pressing a button from hundreds of kilometers away to destroy an aircraft carrier?"

"Captain, we have also been locked onto by missiles!" the Radar operator shouted in terror, "At least five missiles are flying toward us!"

"Evasive maneuvers! Full speed evasive maneuvers!" the captain ordered, but he knew in his heart that if those missiles were as precise as the rumors said, running away was almost futile.

Sure enough, less than two minutes later, "Yongganhao" was also hit by missiles, turning into a fireball amidst a loud explosion.

On the sea, the sailors in the lifeboats watched this scene helplessly; some were crying, some were praying, and others were stunned, unable to accept the reality before them.

The tilt of the "Enterprise" had already exceeded 45 degrees, and a large amount of equipment slid off the deck into the sea, splashing huge waves.

The explosions inside the hull continued, each one making the aircraft carrier's situation more dangerous.

The third wave of missiles whistled in; this time, their target was the Hexin of the aircraft carrier—the already exposed engine room and main structural supports.

Boom! Boom! Boom!
