Chapter 555: Pangu Opens the Heavens, Long Country Rises

~7 min read 1,225 words

"Minister Zhang said excitedly, 'According to reliable intelligence, the scientists of the Star-Spangled Country and Beijixiong Guo have fallen into a cognitive crisis; their physics theories cannot explain the performance of the "Kunpeng" and "Haiying-V," and some have even proposed crazy theories like "alien technology" and "time travel."'"

Li Mingyuan couldn't help but smile after hearing this, thinking to himself: These foreigners guessed quite accurately; it is indeed time travel, only it was me, a person, who transmigrated, not some technology.

"Lao Li, you really have them baffled this time." Minister Zhang rubbed his hands, his face full of excitement, "That leader is probably jumping up and down in the White House right now!"

"If they knew this was only the beginning, I wonder what they would think." A sharp glint flashed in Li Mingyuan's eyes, "Minister Zhang, now is the time to push for the 'Pangu Net' with full force."

Minister Zhang nodded, his expression turning serious, "You're right, military deterrence has been established, and technological development is the foundation. How is the preparation for your network test coming along?"

"The preliminary equipment is in place; we can first conduct a small-scale test inside Penglai Base." Li Mingyuan stood up, "Let's go, let me take you to see our future."

Deep within Penglai Base, inside an inconspicuous three-story building, over a dozen engineers were busy in front of several bulky pieces of equipment. In the center of the room sat several huge metal boxes, flickering with various indicator lights and emitting a low hum while in operation.

"What is this thing?" Minister Zhang asked curiously, having never seen this kind of equipment before.

Li Mingyuan patted the largest metal box, "This is a switch we developed independently, one of the core pieces of equipment for the 'Pangu Net.' Simply put, it's like a sorting center at a post office, responsible for correctly sending information from one place to another."

A young engineer walked over respectfully, "Chief Engineer Li, the lines have been connected, and the modem has been debugged; we can proceed with the first test."

"Very good." Li Mingyuan revealed a satisfied smile and turned to Minister Zhang, "Minister Zhang, you are about to witness a historic moment."

He walked to a piece of equipment in the corner of the room; it was a square chassis connected to a keyboard and a monitor, looking like a simplified version of a Computer. Li Mingyuan sat down, his fingers dancing across the keyboard, and entered a string of commands.

"What are we doing now?" Minister Zhang leaned in, looking curious.

"We are going to send a message to the research institute at the other end of the base." Li Mingyuan explained, "Traditionally, we would need to send someone to run over there or dictate it over the phone. But now, we can complete it in a few seconds."

A line of green text flashed on the screen: "Connecting..."

The whole room went quiet; everyone held their breath, staring at the crude monitor. Three seconds later, new text popped up on the screen: "Connection successful! Enter the content to be transmitted:"

Li Mingyuan typed: "Pangu opens the heavens, Long Country rises."

Then he pressed the Enter key.

The equipment emitted a busy sound, and a few seconds later, the screen displayed: "Transmission successful!"

"Just like that?" Minister Zhang was somewhat puzzled; the scene he had expected seemed more spectacular.

Li Mingyuan smiled, "Don't be impatient, Minister Zhang. Let's make a phone call to confirm."

He picked up the phone on the table and dialed the number for the research institute, "Hello, Engineer Wang, did you receive our message?"

An excited voice came from the other end of the phone, clearly spreading through the room via the speaker: "Received, Chief Engineer Li! 'Pangu opens the heavens, Long Country rises'! The information is completely correct! My God, no, long live our great Long Country! This is too magical!"

A burst of cheers erupted in the room; the engineers shook hands and hugged in excitement, and some even jumped up in their agitation.

"This..." Minister Zhang widened his eyes, seemingly not yet fully understanding what had happened.

Li Mingyuan explained patiently: "Minister Zhang, we just used wires to transmit a piece of text from this room to another building 500 meters away in less than ten seconds. No human intervention, no phone calls, no messengers. This is the prototype of the 'Pangu Net'."

"Too... too magical." Minister Zhang muttered, "This shocks me even more than the 'Kunpeng'."

"This is only the beginning." A glimmer of excitement shone in Li Mingyuan's eyes, "Next, I will demonstrate even more powerful functions."

He entered another string of commands, and the screen displayed: "Remote control request sent..."

A few seconds later, the response from the research institute came through: "Remote control authorized."

Li Mingyuan turned to Minister Zhang, "Now, I can control certain equipment at the research institute 500 meters away. For example..."

He pressed a few keys, "I just turned on the lights in their laboratory."

The phone rang immediately, and Engineer Wang's surprised voice came through: "Chief Engineer Li, it's too divine! The lights really turned on! How did you do it?"

Minister Zhang was completely stunned; this had already exceeded the scope of his cognition. To him, this was simply magic.

"Comrades," Li Mingyuan stood up and looked around at the engineers in the room, "Today, we lit up the 'Pangu Net-Alpha' version, achieving data transmission and simple remote control between two points within the base. This is the first revolutionary step in the way humanity transmits information!"

The engineers cheered again; at this moment, they knew they were creating history.

Li Mingyuan let the technical staff continue testing the network's stability and transmission speed, while he took Minister Zhang to tour the other equipment.

"This is a modem we developed independently; it can convert digital signals into analog signals that can be transmitted over telephone lines, and then convert them back into digital signals at the receiving end." He said, pointing to a small black box.

"And that one?" Minister Zhang pointed to a larger piece of equipment in the corner.

"An early prototype of a router, responsible for determining the transmission path of data. In the future, when there are thousands of network nodes, it will ensure that data packets take the optimal path."

Minister Zhang listened, feeling confused, but his intuition told him that these devices were more revolutionary than the "Kunpeng" and "Haiying."

"Lao Li," Minister Zhang patted Li Mingyuan on the shoulder, "What kind of major undertaking are we working on?"

Li Mingyuan took a deep breath, "Minister Zhang, we are building an information network that can connect the whole country, and even the whole world. In the future, anyone connected to this network will be able to instantly access information and exchange ideas. This will completely change the way human society operates."

"The whole country? The whole world?" Minister Zhang gasped, "This... how much equipment and how many lines would that require?"

"It is indeed a massive project," Li Mingyuan nodded, "but we can proceed in steps. First, connect important military bases and research institutions, then government departments, then universities and factories, and finally popularize it to every household."

Minister Zhang pondered for a moment, then suddenly asked: "Does the Star-Spangled Country have this?"
