Chapter 351: Staged Accident

"Hey, is this Xu Mo? I'm Li Yunfei; we exchanged phone numbers last night."

"Yes, I know; I made a note for you," Xu Mo replied.

"Alright then. Didn't you say you wanted to treat us to a meal? It was too late yesterday, so we couldn't. How about today? Do you and Chen Ke have anything later? If not, let's have a meal together to thank you both for the help last night."

"Hold on a moment; I'll ask Chen Ke." Xu Mo said, then covered the phone's earpiece with his hand, looked toward Chen Ke sitting on the hospital bed, and pointed at the phone: "Li Yunfei is asking if we're free; he wants to treat us to a meal."

Without a second thought, Chen Ke nodded, "Free, free! The thing I lack right now is time."

Seeing that, Xu Mo released the phone and said, "Both of us are free."

"Good. Where are you now—at the hospital?"

"Yes, at the hospital."

"Then wait a moment; I'm driving over to pick you up now."

After hanging up, Xu Mo put down the phone: "He said he's coming to pick us up right away."

Chen Ke sat up from the hospital bed: "Finally something to do; I've been lying here all day, bored to death."

After lying in the hospital all day, Chen Ke was almost bored out of his mind, especially since Xu Mo hadn't come in the morning. He'd been alone in the ward, with no one to talk to; now he finally had something to pass the time.

Half an hour later, Li Yunfei arrived at the hospital.

Chen Ke was still a patient and needed to stay hospitalized, but that didn't stop him from wanting to get out, get some fresh air, and find someone to chat with to ease his loneliness.

Under the cover of Li Yunfei and Xu Mo, Chen Ke slipped out of the hospital while the nurses and doctors weren't looking.

Clearly three police officers, yet they looked like three sneaky thieves...

"Why does it feel like the three of us are as guilty as thieves, having to sneak around just to grab a meal? Can't we just walk out?" Li Yunfei teased after leaving the hospital.

Chen Ke shook his head: "No, no, no. I can't just walk out; the nurses won't let me. This morning I tried to go for a walk and buy breakfast, but they stopped me, saying I need to rest... You know our line of work, rest? How can I afford to be idle? I'm used to being busy; being forced to lie still feels worse than death. Besides, I injured my hand, not my leg, so moving around isn't a problem."

Li Yunfei nodded after listening: "Haha, that's true. When you're used to being busy, a sudden break makes it hard to stay idle even for a moment."

The car had just left the hospital and hadn't gone far when trouble arose.

At an intersection, an old lady eyed Li Yunfei's unmarked police car, walked to the front where the vehicle hadn't fully stopped, glanced inside through the windshield, then moved to the side window and asked, "Hey kid, doesn't this car have a dashcam?"

"No, it doesn't. What's the matter, ma'am?"

"No dashcam, then that's fine..." The old lady didn't answer Li Yunfei's question, but muttered to herself.

Then she walked back to the front of the car, let out an "Ow!" and slowly lay down beside the hood.

Once lying down, the old lady shouted at the top of her lungs, "Kid, why aren't you paying attention while driving? My old bones are about to be smashed by you!"

No wonder they suddenly asked about a dashcam just now; it was all for this.
