Chapter 491: How Did Xu Mo Actually Catch Him?
He was silent for a while, and Han Fei finally spoke.
"What did you say?"
"I said the perpetrator of this Fragmented Corpse Case has already been caught by me. You all come back. Is the signal bad on your side, Han Team?"
It's not the signal; I just can't believe it! Han Fei was completely dumbfounded at that moment.
It hadn't been long since the report came in, and he had just arrived on the scene for a short while; the forensic doctor had only just finished a simple autopsy. Yet Xu Mo said he had already captured the perpetrator—who could possibly believe that?
Han Fei instantly wondered whether Xu Mo was just playing with him.
But on second thought, Han Fei thought Xu Mo wasn't that kind of person; the Xu Mo he knew never bragged casually, so if he said it, it must be true.
With that in mind, Han Fei asked, "Are you sure we're talking about the same case?"
He wondered whether there was another Fragmented Corpse Case and Xu Mo had actually caught the perpetrator of that other case; the probability was extremely low, but not impossible.
"Definitely. It's the Fragmented Corpse Case, right? Those Body Fragments were found by a garbage collector at the trash depot next to 489 Xihu Road, correct?" Xu Mo named the Throw Corpse location.
Now Han Fei was even more bewildered; his head just buzzed.
Xu Mo was actually talking about the same case! And while he was at a loss, Xu Mo had already captured the perpetrator!
He couldn't believe it, he simply couldn't believe it...
Xu Mo's investigative ability is strong, and his case‑solving speed is fast; Han Fei had seen that, but it shouldn't be that quick!
He hadn't even grasped many clues, yet Xu Mo had already solved the case? And even dragged the perpetrator back to the Police Station??
How long had it been since the report came in? A Fragmented Corpse Case with an extremely brutal method was already handled?
That's even more efficient than catching a thief!
"Hey, hey, Han Team... can you hear me?" Xu Mo, seeing that Han Fei hadn't responded for a while, shouted into the phone a few times.
But no voice came from the other end.
Is the signal that bad? Han Fei kept silent, so Xu Mo just assumed the signal was poor and hung up.
Taking advantage of the time, he interrogated the perpetrator he had just brought in.
Thanks to the Criminal Capture Radar, Xu Mo could confirm that the man before him was the perpetrator of the Fragmented Corpse Case, but knowing alone wasn't enough; to convict him he needed a Confession Statement as evidence.
"Name."
"Wang Jianjun."
"Gender."
"It's not... comrade Police, there's no need to ask that, can't you see?"
Hearing that, Xu Mo slammed the table with a Bang: "Just answer what I ask; stop the chattering."
When dealing with a murderer, Xu Mo didn't bother to give him a friendly look.
After slamming the table, Xu Mo asked again.
"Gender."
This time, Wang Jianjun was more honest.
"Male."
"Age."
"Twenty‑five."
"Do you know Li Bo? What's your relationship with him?"
"I know him; we're coworkers."
"Do you two have any grudges?"
"Yes, he hit on my girlfriend," Wang Jianjun admitted openly, unlike other murderers who tend to hide.
"So you killed him?"
Wang Jianjun shook his head; he would never admit that: "I didn't kill anyone."
"The cameras on Xihu Road captured you Throwing the corpse; you still want to deny it?" Xu Mo prepared to trick Wang Jianjun.
There was no surveillance around the trash can next to 489 Xihu Road, so it couldn't have recorded Wang Jianjun Throwing the corpse.
The reason Xu Mo asked that was to make Wang Jianjun slip up in his panic.
But Wang Jianjun didn't fall for it at all and shook his head again.
"I've already said I didn't kill anyone; what Throw Corpse... I don't understand what you're saying."
Wang Jianjun had excellent mental composure; his face didn't change while lying, and as expected, he had prepared a set of responses for the Police after the murder.
Standard questioning didn't work much on him.
To pry words from Wang Jianjun's mouth, they'd need crucial evidence.
But that was almost impossible; since he dared to toss the Body Fragments into the trash can without fear and sat on the interrogation chair unflinching while denying the murder, it indicated he had likely eliminated almost all usable clues.
Relying solely on investigation, it would be hard to find the key evidence.
Wang Jianjun knew that without sufficient evidence, the Police could only detain him temporarily; once the time elapsed they'd have to release him. Even if they were sure he was the perpetrator, there was no way forward—cases require evidence.
But his misfortune was meeting Xu Mo.
Clues destroyed? No key evidence? That's no problem.
Xu Mo had a way to make Wang Jianjun tell the truth.
A dose of truth serum, and he'll say whatever is asked!
Xu Mo stood up, moved beside Wang Jianjun on the interrogation chair, avoided the camera angle, injected a truth serum, then returned to his seat and asked again.
"Why did you kill?"
"He hit on my fiancée; the whole thing spread through our company. I was about to enjoy success in both career and family, but because of his move, I lost everything. He embarrassed me, and in a fit of rage I killed him."
Unlike his earlier answer, 'girlfriend' became 'fiancée,' and the matter was known throughout Wang Jianjun's company, so it's no wonder he wanted to dump the body after killing—to vent his emotions.
His fiancée was taken by someone; the person who hit on his fiancée was also his coworker. The key is that the incident spread in the company, and for someone who cares about face and has a bad temper, it's indeed easy to act out of line.
"Continue, and also describe the process in detail." Xu Mo lifted his chin, urging Wang Jianjun to keep speaking.
"Yesterday…"
Ten minutes later, the interrogation ended; under the effect of the truth serum, Wang Jianjun let everything spill.
Xu Mo took a Confession Statement and walked out of the Interrogation Room.
Just as he stepped outside, he ran into Han Fei, who had hurried back.
"I heard Xiao Hu say you were interrogating the murderer?"
Xu Mo raised the Confession Statement in his hand: "Just finished, he spilled everything. Han Team, you really came back at the right time."
Han Fei took the Confession Statement and flipped through it; the statement fully recorded Wang Jianjun's motive for killing, his method, and how he destroyed the evidence afterward.
After flipping through the Confession Statement, Han Fei was even more bewildered.
In this case, the murderer was very clever; although not flawless, among all the cases Han Fei has handled, the murderer Wang Jianjun is undoubtedly a hard‑to‑crack tough nut.
How exactly did Xu Mo catch this kid?
