Chapter 34: Repay grudges with grudges
Repay grudges with grudges.
Someone before the screen seemed to recall something, half doubting it was impossible, half pulling up the guide's photo in their light-brain.
The Fu Guang in the photo and the Fu Guang seen in person were two completely different people; the Fu Guang in the photo looked small compared to a Sentinel.
Blonde hair, white skin, blue eyes—at first glance she looked weak, as if a single finger could make her kneel; that was the first impression many Sentinels had of Fu Guang's photo, and naturally they didn't take it to heart.
Just a weakling, no need to remember.
But having seen Fu Guang in person, one realizes the photos are deceitful; aside from looking alike, are they related at all?
That's a blatant photo scam!
After a moment, her pupils widened, and she exclaimed sharply, "Damn, it's actually a guide!"
"What are you howling about? The whole hallway heard you howling!" A Sentinel on good terms with her heard it and pushed the door open.
She furrowed her brows, looked at her friend's shocked, speechless expression, and muttered, "Look at your lack of ambition."
She then turned to look at the screen she was viewing, faced the guide's photo and said, "It's just a guide—what's so surprising?" She said it offhandedly.
When she saw the blond figure in the livestream, she incredulously slapped the table; the table suddenly cracked, and the items on it scattered everywhere with a crackling sound.
She burst out, louder than her friend, "My god! A guide!!!"
"'Guide, guide, are you obsessed with guides?' Someone shouted at the two dissatisfied, strode in with vigorous steps, and kicked the door open."
Fu Guang didn't realize that, due to her appearance, the number of people in the livestream was gradually heating up, and the livestream's viewership surged.
"Oh my god!!! How did a guide end up on the battlefield?"
"'A guide?' S-rank Sentinels, upon hearing this, dropped what they were doing and logged onto the campus network to watch the livestream."
Lishao, however, wasn't all that surprised—Fu Guang, even as a D-rank, dared to recklessly go into the Dark Forest; this was just the beginning.
Speaking of recklessness, Fu Guang and he were equally unwilling to back down.
On the battlefield, Fu Guang stood before the two siblings and asked, bewildered, "You hit my people—who am I?"
While saying that, she wore a faint smile, but her eyes were full of coldness.
"'Not returning a favor is impolite.' Blue light erupted around her, her eyes blazing with blue, 'It's also a good chance to test my skills.'"
Blue threads in her hand wound around the two siblings; visible to the naked eye, Shu Tong's injuries lessened, and Liu Yun's feathers, blackened by pollution, gradually faded to a black-and-white weave.
A combination of healing and purification arts? Those outside saw the change in the two, realized the technique behind it, but—how could that be possible?
"A-rank? Impossible?"
The second-generation heir didn't even have time to wonder why a guide had appeared; the guide's displayed technique greatly moved his heart and mind.
When did a B-rank guide's abilities become this excellent? But isn't trash supposed to be D-rank?
"'Absolutely impossible.' Having seen many guides due to his family background, he knew no guide's technique was like this."
He couldn't believe he had offended such an outstanding guide.
Clearly, he was just a piece of trash.
The siblings felt as if they had sunk into warm seawater; the soothing water smoothed their scars, and even the deep mental fatigue from days without sleep and constant travel was brushed away.
"'Alright, you two, the battlefield is no time to space out.' Fu Guang spoke gently, 'Now it's time to repay grudges and resentments.'"
She floated back behind them, her tone gentle yet unyielding, her cold gaze fixed on the screen: 'Since I've come, I'm not here for nothing.'
"'This battle, I will offer victory to you.'"
"'I will not disgrace the order.' Shu Tong and Liu Yun both bowed their heads, then suddenly surged forward, the blue threads extending infinitely."
The livestream's comments paused, then suddenly surged.
"'I suddenly feel excited, I don't even know why I'm so excited.'"
"'I also feel like I'm being summoned; use me, O Great Guide.'"
"'I want to be your dog, O Great Guide.'"
"'Hehe, O Great Guide.'"
"'Upstairs, don't dirty the Great Guide's eyes.'"
Some sober people said, 'Just B-rank? Did the White Tower and the military department make a mistake?'
"'Heh, suddenly I feel we've picked up a huge bargain.'"
"'Hehehe.'"
No matter how wildly crazy the screen gets, the battlefield remains a training ground of blood and fire.
The second-generation heir dodged the incoming blade and shouted, 'Fu Guang guide, I had no intention to offend you; you're magnanimous—let's settle this amicably, what do you think?'
"'I didn't know these two Sentinels belonged to you; now that I do, I'll definitely steer clear.'"
The blade scraped past his flesh with a splintering sound, and he let out a wail.
"'Alas, this Li family member's talent for spouting lies with eyes open hasn't weakened at all; still making excuses, and not even looking at the guide who hasn't replied a word.'"
"'I reckon this kid's doomed; offending a guide with limitless potential—though he's not irreplaceable, the Li family won't protect him.'"
"'This kid's famous for bullying the weak and fearing the strong; this time he finally kicked an iron plate.'"
The comments' assessment of this Li family second-generation heir's reputation was uniformly poor.
The second-generation heir also knew what fate awaited him; he absolutely could not lose, for if he lost, everything would truly be over.
As for inheriting the Li family, forget it; it's highly likely he'd be driven to some remote planet to fend for himself.
It must be said, he knows his family's style all too well.
In a certain high-rise, 'Patriarch, what should we do about the third young master?' a person in a black suit, head lowered, asked the furrowed-browed person in the chief seat; the screen's light shone on his dim face.
"'What can be done? He's just a good-for-nothing, constantly causing me trouble.'"
He pondered a moment, then lowered his voice to order his subordinates, 'Prepare a starship.'
The person with lowered head looked at the chilly glint in the chief's eyes, quickly lowered his head, feeling a chill—his own flesh-and-blood child said they'd abandon him, so what about these unrelated strangers?
The Li family's second-generation heir rolled quickly from the ground, gradually losing strength; he was resentful—these two low-born Sentinels, what gave them the right to suppress him?
He looked at the golden-haired girl not far behind them, "Fu Guang guide, I wish to become your guard Sentinel!"
"Hah, you guys think he'll get his wish?" Bai Gao's silver eyes sank deep, the corners of his crimson lips curled into a dangerous smile, his voice no longer the clear tone of before, dark and low like a freshly baked resentful male ghost.
"Perhaps?" Shang Ze replied with a smile, mocking Bai Gao, who was jealous to the point of near distortion.
Everyone knows full well that Fu Guang isn't a trash collector—it'd be strange if she took a liking to him—but they just enjoy watching Bai Gao go crazy.
They've only just met, yet they're already putting on a deep affectionate act—pretty funny, right?
"You wanna fight?" Bai Gao, just as he wished, unleashed a cold killing intent that washed over them.
"Happy to oblige." His fox-like eyes flickered.
"See you at the training ground after the stream ends."
"Waiting for you."
Yin Zhu pursed their lips; the two of them, after being together a while, really do start to resemble each other—Bai Gao's got a screw loose, and Shang Ze's head's gone off the rails too?
